Two of the six US marines accused of raping a Filipina on November 1 appeared before the Olongapo City Prosecutor's Office for the first time on Tuesday, ANC reported.

Corporal Corey Burris and Lance Corporal Albert Lara, accompanied by their lawyer and a small security detail, arrived at the office of Olongapo Chief Prosecutor Prudencio Jalandoni shortly after 11 a.m.

The accused reportedly wanted to show themselves to Jalandoni to prove they were not the ones in photographs lifted from the Web site of the US Marine Corps. The pictures were shown to the public by the complainant's lawyer, Katrina Legarda.

Burris and Lara spent less than five minutes in the Jalandoni's office before leaving.

Five of the six US servicemen accused of raping the 22-year old Filipina filed their counter-affidavits before the prosecutor's office on November 29.

Jalandoni received the sworn statements of suspects Burris, Lara, Dominic Duplantis, Chad Carpentier and Keith Silkwood that were submitted by their lawyers.

The sixth accused, Daniel Smith, who denied participation in the crime, did not submit a counter-claim. His lawyer said he will be submitting it within 10 days.
