Bottom line, though, and they all say this: There are not enough guys there to drive the final stake through the heart of the insurgency, primarily because there aren't enough troops in-theater to shut down the borders with Iran and Syria. The Iranians and the Syrians just cannot stand the thought of Iraq being an American ally -- with, of course, permanent U.S. bases there.
Outstanding report! I think we need to do everything we can to cut a deal with the Jordanians. 20,000 Jordanian shooters in Al Anbar would go a long way.

The Hotel Wedding Bombings in Amman might just be what they need to really get into the fight. Sweeten the pot with loan guarantees and some military hardware sales. They would love to get some more F-16s to replace their French Mirages and old F-5s.

That's probably the best unemotional, cut and dried report I've read on the issues as they pertain to us. This is the sort of thing we need a LOT more of- so that what WE know goes up to the people who can fix it.
