Playing In the Democrat Sandbox

When young children attempt to play a game like football or baseball, they carefully lay out their playing field and everyone knows that the two sticks on either side of the field mark the “out of bounds.” That is, of course, until one steps over the line; then the cry goes out, “it isn’t that stick, it's that one over there.” Democrat political strategy employs the same juvenile playbook.

Republicans do not enjoy majority status in Congress by accident. They had to be elected to rise to such prominence. Democrats have developed the strategy of defeating that majority status by convincing the American people that they have been duped by a lie about the necessity to go to war with Iraq. The truth is that the evidence presented by President Bush to the American public, about the reasons to remove Saddam Hussein from power, was echoed at the time by every leading world power.

Prior to the war, France, China, Russia, Germany, Japan, the United Nations, and even the Democrats did not dispute the president’s claims of WMD. How is it, then, that it is now only the president who is guilty of false statement? The answer is simple. Under the Democrat rules of engagement, you make up the rules as you go along. It is time for Republican legislators to aggressively respond to the baseless attempts of Democrats to “frame” the president for “falsely” making his case for the war with Iraq.

Placing more emphasis on lopsided polls than a display of political conviction, Republicans are said to be “nervous” about the president’s policies with respect to next year’s elections. If these sterling examples of leadership put half as much energy into moving the president’s agenda forward as they do in worry, their chances for re-election could well be a lock.

In fewer than four weeks, Iraqis will once again go to the polls. This time it will be to elect their first formal government officials for a period of four years. This is the final milestone, the concluding achievement that will mark the beginning of our ability to honorably return our armed forces from that land.

If ever there was a time to demonstrate an unwavering support to that end, it is now. At the pinnacle of this achievement, at the very moment we can claim victory, Democrats are doing their level best to bring about “cut and run.” This vicious campaign of lies and distortions against the president must be addressed.

Twice last week, Democrat members of Congress attempted to introduce legislation that would spell defeat and surrender in Iraq. The first was an amendment introduced in the Senate for a date certain for withdrawal from Iraq. It was narrowly defeated but not before Republicans agreed to a watered down version of the same thing.

Next, was Congressman John Murtha, D-Pa, calling for immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq. When Sunni Muslims and Baathist Terrorists go to the polls in December, they will certainly be casting their votes for the American Democratic Party.

The Bush administration is at least finally responding to the hypocrisy by the Democrats. However, it will take far more than repeating words like “irresponsible and reprehensible” to knock down this subversive campaign of the Dems. Between fabricated reality and a media campaign to beat the public into submission through negative publicity of the war, the Democrats have developed a very difficult barrier to overcome.

The immediacy with which the Democrats have responded with their classic “outrage” over the push back by Republicans is so typical of the playground on which they play. From their selfish perspective, if they aren’t winning, it’s time to take the ball and go home. What they are playing with in this case are the lives of our armed services and the very fabric of our national security. Maybe it is time to send these Democrats home.
