The year was 1962...most of the Marine Corps had just returned from facing the "Missiles of October".
November 10, 1962 was the 187th birthday of our Beloved Corps
While we were celebrating at home, Marines were dying in a far off place that many had never heard of South Vietnam.
Also a few days to the year, our President would be dead.
Shot in Dallas Texas.
A few weeks before that Diem and his brother had been murdered in South Vietnam.
I don't recall much of the Marine Corps birthday of 1962 or 1963.
We've traveled many a mile since those days.
This year finds many Marines serving in far way places away from home.
In a war on terrorism.
To them we wish to extend our best and Happy Marine Corps birthday wishes.
Also to all the Marines that post here.
