As we prepare to celebrate our 227th, let's not forget those on the lines today. Another load is leaving Lejeune enroute to the Horn of Africa. Along with the MEUs in that area, those in Bosnia/Kosovo, and the Orient, we have an abundance of brothers standing tall where we once stood. Maybe a different "clime" but the sweat and the threat is the same. All of us know the pride and excitement of earning the title Marine, but with the title comes the responsibility and our "New Breed" brothers are shouldering that responsibility now as we "Old Breed" did in our time. Having spent the 193rd and 195th birthdays in Vietnam, I know the feeling of celebrating with brothers far from home in an unfriendly location. So let's raise a toast and a prayer for those who are sharing the day in a less friendly environment. And let's give them our encouragement and support in the conflict ahead.:marine:
