I offer my deepest and sincerest apologies to all for my non-attendence at the Birthday Ball. I regret the missed opportunity to shake hands and to express a sincere "Thank you".

That loss was mine, not yours.

Someone posted a thread, "What was your most memorable Marine Corps Ball." I think mine was last night, but I don't remember too much of it, just bits and pieces and an amazement at the number and variety of empty bottles on my patio.

FYI, my clock is 12 hours ahead of yours. When you got up Sunday morning to read the funnies or to take the family to church, I was finishing preparations for my own, private ball.

I fully expected that when MY ball was over, it would be time to take the kids to school and join you guys.

I spent my night, your day, visiting memories and drinking toasts. Then I went to web sites. I visited Nomad, and drank a toast to him.

I visited people and places, read a thousand tributes and medal citations. I heard the cries, I heard the screams, I saw the termination of life's dreams.

I am emotionally bankrupt, totally and completely drained. My ducts are exausted, I couldn't shed another tear now if my life depended upon it.

BUT I AM SO MOTHER****ING PROUD TO HAVE BEEN A PART OF THIS FABULOUS BAND OF BROTHERHOOD.

I bask in THEIR glory, and I am warmed by it. I am honored to share the name. Then, now, and forever, I don't want ANY Marine to be able to say, "You shamed us, you let us down."

I pray that I didn't, don't and won't.

A taxi took my kids to school today, first time ever. Depends on my recouperative powers whether I will pick them up, or a taxi will.

Your ball was half over when I tried to enter the chat room and was locked out. My name was recoginized, but not my password. I guess I could have changed my name and reregistered, but to be honest, it wasn't that important. I've never visited a chat room before, and I certainly wasn't in any condition to party. I just would have expressed my appreciation to the host, wished all a Happy Birthday, and went home.

True, I don't remember much of it, but you folks missed a hell of a Birthday Ball at MY place. But to be honest again, it probably wouldn't have been the same if I had to share it.

(and I could eat both pieces of cake, the youngest AND the oldest.)

Why doesn't any Real Marines have any pictures from the Marine Corps Ball. Since I can't go to one yet I would like to know what it looks like.

Can Anyone help

The reason you can't go to a Marine Corps Ball is because the next one is not until November 10th 2003. You missed this one.

Wait a while. gunnyg or bones will be passing by this way, and they can find a film, or a clip for you on the Marine Corps Ball.

Sorry you missed this one. You would have been welcomed.

... to Shaffer for letting it happen

... to all the Brothers (and sisters) for making it a memorable evening

... to Bones for spiking the punch

Sometimes, in the day to day existance, I appreciate the chance to shut the rest of the world off. I felt honored to be a part of last night.

I'll never 'raise a glass' in toast again, without the added memory of last night. An added memory, that will bow a tear eyed head, in loving, and proud, rememberance.

God Bless America, and her MARINE CORPS...

PAST
PRESENT
and FUTURE :marine:

Semper Fidelis, and a Happy Vetrans Day to all.
