It's taken me 6 months to build up the whatever you wanna call it to get back on here and say this.
I failed.
I shipped to MCRD on March 7th. I was determined and motivated and I failed. I let my recruiter, my family, myself, and the Corps down. I was put into RSP three days into my recieveving. I was sent home the following week with a General Discharge for Fraud Enlistment.
I had discussed some medical issues with my recruiter prior to my enlistment and was advised not to mention them. During recieving one of those issues came up during the medical exams and the jig was up. I was told by the Officer Dr. to come clean during the moment of truth or I would be in even bigger trouble. Once in RSP I was told some horror stories about how long discharges take. There was guys there for 6 months and their paperwork was still in the works. I approached the RSP DI and spoke to him as well as a Marine Liasion. They told me with my condition I would never be a Marine. I asked what the quickest way home was and they advised me.
I feel like I owe everyone here and in the Corps a huge appology. I think about it everyday. And every day I feel like crap for it. I wanted to be a Marine! Never gonna happen.
My hat is off to everyone who served, serves, and will serve. You are better than I.
Thank you everyone who gave me advice and support before my shipping. You all be careful.
I'm sorry.

No apology needed by any of us. Don't go beating yourself up about it. Everything happens for a reason. Go on with your life. I am sorry you didn't make it but it's not the end of your life. Carry on! We will be here if you need to talk.

There's a reason for everything, if an apology is needed, it should be your recruiter for giving bad advice.
If the medical condition, was one that would keep you out.
It should had be noted, before you shipped to boot camp.
He or she will have to answer why you were told not to mention your medical condition, that got you dropped.
You tried, that all that matter.
Time to get on with your life.
As Namvet said, we'll be here if you have a need to talk.

I really did wonder what had become of you as you and Pfc Joe Syznal had left at around the same extact time and he came back. You have nothing to be ashamed of, many have found their selves in your position. You have heart and your a good American and that will take you far in this great country. Your recruiter failed you didnt. God Bless you and good luck and if you cant be a Marine then you can still support them like us older Marines.

Deviousfred,
Now that you have gotten this off of your chest I Sincerely hope that you feel better about yourself. If you care to discuss this with me or anybody else please feel free to do so. We are all still here and actually you can be a big help to those up and coming POOLEES...!!! Please use this experience to your advantage and learn from it...!!! Do not sweat the small stuff. If it was an obvious condition and the recruiter asked you not to diclose it then he/she will be found out, trust me on that one. Please do not blame anybody it was your decision to go this route. I admire the fact that you have tried.

Hey Fred,
Like all the marines above have said, at least you gave it a go, no apology required. Also, at least you were sent to RSP for a reason beyond your control. It's not like you could have avioded it. Unlike some of those stellar performers that pop positive on the initial whiz quiz.

You owe no one a apology, it does not appear to you did anything wrong, rather it seems you did everything right, it just wasnt in your cards for reasons beyond your control.. jinelson is right on the mark.. your recruiter failed you, you didnt.. know this, you want to go were most dont, you did go where most will never, you didnt fail.. that means you did more than most ever will.. stand tall in knowing what is in you and what you have come away with..
Dont make us send Carey over to smack you around to get this though yer skull..

Macias, I know what it's like to get down there and have something get in your way. Unfortunately, with you, it was undisclosed information...which would make re-enlistment pretty tough. As it stands right now, I recently contacted a recruiter and was told re-enlistment will be possible once my knee is a little better.
So if you want it, stay the course, find the avenues, and take them when they open up.
All else fails, you went down there, you smelled the air at MCRD, you saw what it was like...and many can't even say they've done that.
You still have my utmost respect. Good luck to you.

DI,
What ever happened to those sharp baby blue uniforms the Marines used to issue for such an occation?

I really want to thank all of you all for what you have said. Marines are a unique breed. I too was shocked at what I saw in RSP. The worst of the worst I must say. It was like if you took all the d-heads and stuck them into one platoon. Guys that went AWOL to smoke then come back and pop positive, guys who cut themselves to get a ticket home, guys who faked psychological disorders, and I actuall met a guy who was 10 feet from the finish in the Crucible and refused to finish. I would have pulled myself with my eye lids if I had to!
It was only a week and a half that I was there but I learned a lot about myself. If I ever get the chance you better bet I'll be on the white bus from the airport to MCRD with my head between my knees waiting to meet the nicest people on the Depot.
A note to all you Poolees out there. Forget what everyone told you about Disneyland. Marine Corps Boot Camp is the happiest place on earth.

I would like to tell you that it took a lot of guts to do and say what you did and when onedoor closes young man another opens. Stay strong and always be Semper Fi to God and yourself.

Yeah, RSP is an eye opener, that's for sure. There was one kid in RSP when I was there that buckled the minute he stepped off the bus, refused to move off of the footprints, and told the receiving Drill Instructors that he was going to kill himself if he had to move...needless to say he was on constant shadow watch...

The janitor uniforms! I never saw those jumpsuits on the depot, but I remember seeing them all the time at MCT.
Deviousfred, don't feel like you are in anyway a lesser of a person for what happened. Your recruiter gave you some really bad advice and being that you were a motivated enlistee you were ready to do anything to become a United States Marine. Take pride in the fact that you made the effort to serve your great country and had the courage to ship out.

Yeah that recruiter probably told you that because he really had to ship someone because he was "trying to make mission." It is sad that he risks ruining someone elses life just so he doesn't get an @$$ chewing.

Kaziganthi, I dont think Deviousfred is not any worse for this, granted it was a hard hit for him to take, but he has shown us what he is made of, and he is still standing, I think he is better for it.. granted his recruiter needs a lil adjusting, but all in all, I have no doubt he is a better man for all of this, America needs all the good men she can get, IMHO, there is not enough men left in America, I see lots of neutered males around, but not a lot of men, there is no doubt, Deviousfred will add to the ranks of men.
Devious Fred,
Let me say, like the many here have already said, that no apology is needed.
I want to thank you for being a stand up guy and giving the Corps a try. You have stepped forward when many will not. You've stepped on those yellow footprints, many will never know that feeling. You answered the call, unfortunately it did not pan out that way. Your course may be in another direction now but your character will see you through. To come back on this site and write what happened, when you could have just disappeared, shows real character. It shows me that you have great respect for Marines. For that, I thank you and respect you!
Stay safe young man, stay strong, and good things will follow.
