It sure brought back a lot of memories. I was with 11th Motors and MASS-3 MACG-18 Motor T so I made many trips to FLC to load up our convoys. I will never forget the mandatory trips to the bakery to eat fresh hot dunuts and drink ice cold real milk while we were getting loaded up. I had a real good buddy that with FLC his name is LCpl Gary W. Drinkard from Decatur Alabama but have never been able to locate him. Thanks for putting this site together.

Jim, Thanks for the reply--The only Gary W Drinkard I found was from Al but was on death row there from 1995 thru 2001. He was taken off death row, but I dont know if still in prison on not, nor what his crime was. Give me a few days and I'll do some futher checking to see if this is even the same man. Semper Fi Mike

It very well could be he is the right age but Im unable to find if he served in the Corps from 67-73 which would prove that he is. Im happy to hear that he was found to be innocent of the robbery and murder and released after 5 years on death row. The Gary that I served with was a Marine with honor and integrity. Thanks for snooping this out for me Ive also done quiet a bit of searching for him over the years but keep running into dead ends. We have both aged considerably over the last 35 years but this man does resemble the LCpl Gary W. Drinkard that I knew.

This guy was about 9 years old in 1967
Gary Wayne Drinkard, 45, of Falkville was released Friday after a
Morgan County jury found him innocent of capital murder charges in
the robbery-slaying of Decatur businessman Dalton Pace.
Drinkard's 1st conviction had been overturned by the Alabama Supreme
Court because prosecutors were allowed to talk about Drinkard's prior
criminal history.
Pace was killed at his home on Aug. 18, 1993 and robbed of about $2,000,
according to testimony.
