I was just wondering if anyone could give me a good time frame to work with for the 5 mile run. I currently run 3 miles a day and normally try for 20min and am consistent. I've had this in place for a few weeks and its beginning to become easy, so i figured im ready for the 5 (I figure if I dont get to 5 then the guys at Basic and SOI will have too much fun w/ me, mabe one of you DI's out there :D )

At OCS the 5-mile timed run has to be done in under 40-minutes, but everybody shoots for at least 35-minutes or less.

I always like to time my 1 mile time and then just multiply that by how many laps I am running and that is the time I shoot for. I know everyone slows down as they start doing more and more laps but it's a good incentive on trying to actually reach that total time.

I normally try for 6 on every mile, but when i posted this i had never run more than my regular 3 mile. When I did the 5 I got 37 min, but i thought i would fall over dead when i stopped running. guess im not in as good shape as i thought, I wont be happy until I can get the 2 min off my time...(of course when u go to pool functions i think only a handful of poolees can even run that far yet)

At my pool functions poolees were falling out during the 1.5 mile! You've got nothing to worry about Staggs!
