CAMP PENDLETON ---- Some 1,400 Marines and a few sailors jammed the base theater Friday for a briefing on Arab culture, Iraqi military power, the law of war, logistics, field hygiene and other topics to help prepare them for potential combat in Iraq.
The unclassified, 2-hour briefing was the 15th such session by the 1st Marine Division since Oct. 10 as it prepares its force of 20,000 at Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base and the Marine Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms for possible war.
"The key thing is to focus on readiness," said Capt. Joseph Plenzler, the division's public affairs officer who has helped organize the briefings. "We've got to be ready."
