Alright well, when I enlisted I signed as open contract. My recruiter said we can figure MOS out afterwards when I make up my mind. I'm looking for a field where I can use the training outside of the military. I would like to get into firefighting of some kind, so he said we can go with aviation support, but I could end up in something other then "crash, fire, and rescue". Are these "good" jobs, are they something that can be enjoyable and is there a demand for this field in the civilan world? My recruiter said it was a "hot" field, and my technical and mechanical skills are extremely well, and don't want to waste it. I'm not gonna be to picky on a specific job, because I just want to be a Marine, but I want to get the most out of it that I can and do something I enjoy as much as possible. Does anyone have any advice? Thank You.

ya.....go with it...if you do not end up liking it you can always go about making a change later on....but at least this way you give it a shot....whats it gonna hurt?....

My friend is Crash/Fire Rescue (MOS 7051, I believe). He enjoys it. As for it have something you can take out of it? That really depends on you. When I enlisted I chose Infantry, which was a sore spot with many family and friends. People were concerned all I'd learn was how to kill others. Don't get me wrong, it would've been part of my training, but I believe the intangibles of the Infantry lifestyle would've been more than enough to take away from my time in the Corps.

The honor, courage, committment...the brotherhood....the people you meet and the experiences you endure are what you will remember the most about your time in the Marines.

The major civillian counterpart of Crash/Fire would be firefighter. My thoughts are that if you want more of a technical side of aircraft, go into Aviation Mechanics or something alike.

Whatever you do, be sure to learn something and use it to your benefit. Good luck.
