WELL... I submitted for Admin, Combat Photography and Transportation.. NOW, its a little over a month since I signed and I am realizing I am more motivated than I thought I was and DO NOT want to be sitting behind a desk. I KNOW THAT THE MARINES WILL PUT ME WHERE I AM NEEDED but I want to do as much as possible to get a kick *** job... do you know what I am getting at?

I want to get dirty and sweat. My motivation and inner hardcore-ness are escaping from inside and people around me don't understand it at all, but I LOVE IT!!! I LOVE IT when I tell my friends that I ran 4 miles today, they just stand there in shock!! I LOVE that I am improving myself and that I am getting into something that I can put all my energy, sweat and tears into!

I am in a darn motivating mood tonite. I know bootcamp will be hard, I know what I am getting into and I am so proud of myself at this very moment, I just had to share it with you all, because you are the only ones that understand my kind of motivation.

When I run, I imagine older, retired Marines and Veterans are on the sidelines cheering me on( hehe.. maybe still running)... Active Marines ( my bro, and other Marine friends I have) are running ahead of me, just a little bit out of reach... my fellow poolees and recruits are all around me and we are pushing and helping eachother to succeed at becoming Marines.

One more thing: I noticed that most of my wardrobe consists of USMC tshirts now... a 1037 D CO shirt from my bro's graduation, a few 1037 bootcamp PT shirts... an Iwo Jima shirt... my MEPS shirt..... my Teufel Hunden( spelling is wrong im sure) shirt.... a pair of silkies, a set of green USMC sweatshirt and pants... damn..... Do any of the other Poolees have this problem!? lol

Well all in all, Im real motivated tonite and hope that by reading this, it'll make you go ," OORAH! GET SOME!!!"

a very motivated poolee,
TEGAN!

A poolee is a young man or woman who has entered the delayed
entry program or "pool" and is awaiting their enlistment into the
Marine Corps. They also attend poolee functions, which includes
P.T. Marine Corps Knowledge and if they're (un) lucky enough they might come face to face with a D.I. (as I did) before they hit the yellow
footprints.

--I saw this same D.I. after I got to Boot Camp during P.T.

Keep up the motovation poolee, its your greatest strength.

Just remember, if you make it to Training Day 69, and you're running the 5 mile motivation run before family day, you'll cross those yellow footprints one last time. You'll look back to those receiving days and realize just how much you've grown, and you'd have realized that nothing can stand in your way anymore...

You have a solid foundation, don't give up...

Hey Tegan,

I just got back from the Island where you will be going. I wish you all the luck. Hey if you get DI SSgt Franklin, or DI Sgt Jones. Tell them that Pvt. Raff says Hi and be themselves. those two DI's are really strict and are really good. They deserve alot of respect and I will never forget them. Now my SR DI is going to Iraq in January so you wont have here.
But hey good luck. just remeber these words.........
Stay Strong! Play Hard! Live Long!

Semper Fi,
PVT Raff

Well. it's FINALLY time for this poolee to PUT UP OR SHUT UP!!

I'll be the first to admit I haven't been the most motivated poolee or consistent poster on this site, but I have been reading all the stories, wishing I was on The Island.

I've realized that boot is all I ever think about any more, especially since my original ship day has come and gone (My company is graduating next week... but I'm not keeping track or anything.) ;)

My desire to be a Marine has always been there. Unfortunately, I've let my lack of motivation and support from others get in the way of my dream. Well, NO MORE! I talked to my recruiter today and if all goes well, I'll be shipping to The Island THIS TUESDAY!

I cannot tell you how excited I am to FINALLY take the oath and freakin ship already. I know this will be one of the hardest things I ever do in life, but I also know that MOTIVATION GOES A LONG WAY!!

Thank you to EVERYONE for your support and motivation. It truly means alot to me, especially since my family and friends don't understand The Corps or why I want to be a Marine so bad. It's nice to be able to share my desires with my fellow poolees and gain priceless knowledge from those who have already earned the title. For that, I thank you!!

GET SOME POOLEES AND CONGRATS TO ALL THE NEWEST MARINES OUT THERE. I can't wait to EARN the right to call you all my family!!!

"The fastest way off The Island is to graduate"

6 days until the FUN begins!!! :devious:
