View Full Version : No more "Doc"
3/7 is no longer allowed to use the term "Doc" when referring to a Corpsman. The Muj know what "doc" is now and 8 have been killed in the past month due to being identified as Corpsmen. Just thought I'd pass that along, and maybe some other units might want to tak that into concideration.

dang! so what do you cal em now? hope all is well with you seeley.
We're just supposed to call them by their last names now. They aren't allowed to wear their medical emblem anymore either. All is good with me though, thanks for asking.

no problem. shouldn't be too hard to pick out the docs even without emblems or names though. most of em I knew had longer hair than the Marines they served with

Call them anything they want, as long as it helps them stay around longer!

Things change. When I went in,in 1973 the corpsman had longer hair and were able to sport beards and facial hair. It didn't matter if they worked in the hospital or they were with the FMF.
Then around the first part of the eighties,no more beards and mustaches were trimmed back somewhat & regulated. Then, if they were attached in the FMF and wore the Marine utilities they had to have a regulation haircut & mustache. Never heard any complaints from my devildocs.
By the way Seeley, glad you are doing well and Godspeed, fair winds and following seas to you and the Marines and sailors in your unit! God bless!
