Would work very hard in school, meaning great grades, work to become a Eagle Scout, stay out of trouble, work hard at being in the best shape I could be in, learn the history and traditions of the Corps, and do some volunteer work at the local V.A. Hospital, I guess it would be all of the above for the questions you posed.. it takes a long time for some of us to figure out a very simple thing in life.. it goes something like this.. if you know what your limits for anything is.. you are NOT living correctly, the only limits any man has are those he makes for himself, so never have any limits on what you can or can not do, and last but not least, NEVER have friends or be around people who are negative, they will NEVER help you, and will only act to drag you down be it in words or actions, GO FOR IT.. attack life like its your last day to live, and keep hangling around here.. there are lots of good Marines around here with more good advice for you than you will ever find any place else.

Definetly some good advice by Nagalfar . No matter where you go you will have people who will try to bring you down to their level. Dont listen to them . Follow your heart and remember if your not sure wether something is wrong or not , it probably is . Stay motivated , keep out of trouble , but most importantly, remember to be true to yourself and fuk everyone else and wha they think!

Couldn't have said it better myself. Another thing you have to remember is, TO HAVE FUN!! High school is a time in your life that you will always look back on, and wonder, would I do it the same all over again? Keep your eyes on the prize, but remember, have a good time along the way. That is my advice.
Thak you you really dont know how much it means to be able to get advice from people with experiance

Loking back, I'd have joined the school wrestling team. Those buggers have the motivation and determination to be good Marines.

Mac88 look into joining the Sea Cadets, MJROTC, NJROTC, Young Marines or Devil Pups. If none of these organizations are available in your local area join the Boy Scouts these will all give you a strong foundation and the traits that you will need to develope yourself to be a Poolee. For PT try this link its a good start http://www.usmchq.com/usmcresources/bootcamp.htm And heed the other advice you have received its all good. Do not be afraid to ask questions and research the archieves on this site there is much that you can learn right here. Never let down and you will achieve your goal to become one of the few.
WOW jimelson well i am already a sae cadet i havent started school yet but i am in navil science and NJROTC but i will look at that sight and i thak you for your input
honestly all of your advice has been taken into account and i will soon start my PT Cycle.
IF any more advice is putup it also will be added to my things to do.

This all great advise...for anyone, might I add. Two words, GET INVOLVED. The Marine Corps is looking for leaders. We expect that even the newest PFC straight from boot camp will step up to the plate and take charge if necessary.
GET INVOLVED in anything that is going to make you a better person...NJROTC is a good start. Explore other opportunities that might interest you whether its martial arts, sports, triathlon, or the debate team.
I wish I had taken more advantage of the opportunities in high school to get involved in MORE activities (I was involved, but I could have done more). What ever you decide on...do your best and be a leader.
Thank you for your input sir
If I had a "do -over"? HMMMM
Well like the LT said I would have gotten involved more prior to shipping. I would have asked a ton more questions and not listened to the "know it all" friends. I regret not knowing more about the Corps prior to being IN the Corps. I would still have gone for the same MOS but when the opportunity to try out for force came up I would have jumped on it. (I was not educated on Force at the time) Other than that, I can say that I loved what I got to do, did more than I ever thought I would, and grew up faster than I thought possible. I STILL, like many, miss the CORPS.

I can't get over it or I missed out on the instructions.
When did the word come out to quit using capitals, spaces and punctuation?

Mac88- stay focused on the things you want most in life and study any and everything you can about the corps, but most important only make actions that can help you better yourself and prepare yourself for your future, if you want to be a marine then think like one! good luck
Thank you for your advice!

I was the same way at 14 but never had internet......stay motivated and maybe I should come and slay you and your parents for practice.
HaHa Yeah that would be great. But really... I'm staying motivated and keeping out of trubble.
