Reported in Yesterday's news:
Meanwhile, the U.S. military said it captured a cell leader of the notorious al-Qaeda in Iraq terror organization.

Ammar Abu Bara, alias Amar Hussein Hasan, was arrested Wednesday in Mosul, Iraq's third-largest city, by troops of the Army's 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, a U.S. statement said.

The statement said Abu Bara was taken into custody during a cordon and search operation in a neighborhood in northern Mosul. Abu Bara replaced Abu Talha, former terror cell leader for the Mosul area who was arrested last month, the statement added.

Ha! Ha! Ha! Another all involved leader of 'Al Qaeda in Iraq' who sends hundreds to their death in the name of Allah, but thought better of it for himself!

By the way, nice work 1st Brigade! Job well done!

Now, knowing this, the leaders get caught, while the followers die, how come this has not been played up in the Arab Press? Where do you write a letter to the editor for these guys? They seem to have no problems getting the attention of our news media!

...Abu Bara was taken into custody during a cordon and search operation...
Are we missing something fundamental in pursuing al-Qaeda? Bin Laden and Zarqawi are worth $25,000,000 each to the next lucky tipster.

This one was captured at a checkpoint. Why aren't folks contacting us for that kind of cash?

Okay, not too many regular Islamic citizens have any contact with Bin Laden and Zarqawi. Is there any kind of bounty on lower level al-Qaeda members?

Actually Wing, I would like to see a bunch of 'Jesse James' posters go up all around Iraq, but how would we determine who was telling us the truth in the matter? It could be that Al Qaeda would figure a way to use this to build up their cash reserves by turning in good citizens, and allowing the Iraqi Government to assist them is removing rivals to power in any specific region. Al Qaeda is not what you call a 'Card Carrying' organization. You do not go down to a local recruiter and join the 'Al Qaeda in Iraq'. They pick who it is that they want, and many a time, they will just contract out work on a piece meal basis, and see that the work gets done, then give the contractor more work, and more money until the person becomes a trusted confidant.

There are many reasons why one would go to Iraq to join in the effort. One being that they are brought there by religious fervor. These are the guys driving the truck bombs or wearing the bomb vests. Two, there are the people that are locals that do not wish to die quite so easily, but have tribal issues and loyalties to adhere to. Three, there are the Part-timers, the thieves and kidnappers of the back streets that are doing it for money, and the hopes of some advancement should the fundamentalist come to get their way, but they also do not have the stomach for all out combat, they are the IED boys and the local yokel intelligence network, any thing for the equivalent of the Dollar to take care of their families or their own personal ego trips.

Just how is it we single them out?
