I was supposed to leave for PI the thirteenth of July but then my recruiters changed it and told me i was leaving the 18th. Well my family went to visit my sister and brother in law at cherry point. When we were up there my dad had symptoms that made us think he was having a heart attack, luckly he wasn't but when we thought it was i called my recruiter and he told me to wait to weeks but now he is saying im not going to get my job.

I don't want to but my brother in law said why don't i drop contract because by they said i want get to keep my job anyway and retake the asvab and score higher and re enlist so i can get a job that i know id like. One of the only reasons i consider this is beacause my recruiters gave me a job i didn't even sign up for and i don't know what it is neither does my recruiters, brother in law, or some master gunny i talked to that was retired..........

Any advice?

In all honesty Recruit, you guys with these contracts are having more problems than a High School Algebra Book has. You do realize that classes fill on a FCFS basis, and when the classes close, you do have to wait a full rotation until the next available class comes open. The Marine recruiter has an algorithm built into his computer that pretty much does all the crunch numbers from around the USA to insure that the classes will meet their required class participants, and this is subject to many different constraints, somewhat like scheduling a flight on an airlines, there are just so many seats, and many times the bookings are over booked.

If you want to be a Marine than go as you are ordered to go, and if you want to be a specialist, than you just have to wait until the classes come open. It is as simple as that.

I would read your contract carefully. If it says that if you leave on a specific date to get the mos you want then yes they can change it, if it doesn't they are bound by the contract. It is what is in writing that matters. If I have said it once I have said it a 1,000 times, verbal means absolutely nothing, it is what is in writing nothing more nothing less. The Marine Corps is generally not in the habit of breaching their contracts. Although once you graduate boot camp you may have to wait longer for a class rotation to come along, since you will have missed the original class.

I would say you are a little late, and a little is too much!

It can be worked out - wait for the next rotation of classes. Part of the Marine attitude is "can-do"

Let's see if you really want your job. If you want it bad enough, you'll do whatever it takes to get it. Don't settle for crap.... Marines do not settle for the second option.

Mission Accomplishment..... The Marine Corps has their mission and you have yours. The Marine Corps will accomplish it's mission - will you accomplish yours?
