Grants totaling $25.9 million will allow more than 20,000 veterans to receive the training they need to find good jobs, U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao announced July 1. The Department of Labor's (DOL) Veterans' Workforce Investment Program (VWIP) and the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP) recently awarded the 95 grants. Grants were awarded on a competitive basis to state and local workforce investment boards, local public agencies and nonprofit organizations, including faith-based and community organizations that are familiar with the area and population served and can administer an effective program, the DOL said.
