The head of the U-S Central Command confirms that some 700-to-800 U-S Marines have been sent to the African nation of Djibouti (jih-BOO'-tee). Some are ashore and some are aboard a command ship in nearby waters.
They join a similar number of Army special forces soldiers who've been stationed in Djibouti for several months.
They're ready for possible action against al-Qaida terrorists -- either in Somalia or nearby Yemen or elsewhere in the region.
