Subject: FCA of 1996

Sir,

Have been informed by my wife through Mrs. Baker that the Fed Comm Act of
1996 REQUIRES that cell service providers give a 10% discount to ALL
military/retirees.* However, they have no requirement to advertise/offer.

My wife has already notified Cingular and they have confirmed and
provided.

Recommend we verify “Officially” and pass word to MCNOSC personnel (Who is
acting MCNOSC Chief?).

Ideally. would think that any phone company offering Kiosk services in the
PX should be required by base order to extend this discount automatically
as part of doing business on base.

Does Verizon have a discount for military retirees? If so, how would I get it?

Sprint, yes. ATTWS, sure. Cingular, think so. Verizon, no.

There are some groups that have discounts. Your ability to find that group
may be tough, and to blend in that group will be challenging. I've heard of
a few that have crashed the "special" group for the discount, yet I am still
retail on Verizon. And since I have a no-roaming single rate West plan,
there is no where else to go for that plan. My city lines are on an ATTWS
Army foundation. think it's 15% discount, but it may be 10%. Call them if
you have interest.

I've read the entire bill and nothing even comes close to discounts for military.

I have been speaking with other retirees and their wireless carrier does this for them. Sprint is the one that is the most that I have found to do this so far. I am a cingular customer. I will find out today if not in the next couple of business days. As I cannot check my private email from work.
