KUWAIT, Oct. 23 - Prosecutors have released on bail 12 men who were arrested after two Kuwaitis killed an American marine and wounded another this month, a defense lawyer said today.
After two men attacked the marines on Oct. 8 and were killed, Kuwait announced the arrest of 15 men whom it described as plotters of the attack, calling them a cell of Al Qaeda that was planning to attack other American targets.
But Badr al-Kandari, a defense lawyer, voicing a common complaint among lawyers over the past two weeks, said, "They arrested people at random and we, as lawyers, have not been allowed to attend the interrogations yet."
Today Kuwaiti prosecutors ordered the detention of the three remaining plot suspects and three other men for another 21 days.
