Deuce Gear?

I am leaveing for Basic on April 4, 2005 and Ihave been trying to find out what gear I will be issued and when I will receive it. Any help would be appreciated.

Belt, canteen, poncho, shelter half, bed roll (maybe), magazine pouch (maybe) come to mind.

That's right. You dont need to worry about what you are getting. Just remember to make sure it isn't broken when you get it. I know they may try to rush you through your gear issue, but take your time. I got a broken e-tool, and that made for a long week in the field when trying to put up tents. I wish you the best of luck in earning the title.

That's from memory, but it's pretty much accurate. Now, when you get OFF the island- hit up cash sales on Thursday/Friday of grad week. They've got a LOAD of uniforms that got issued to "washouts." Cammies that only got worn a couple weeks, boots that were barely used, etc. that they'll sell for EXTREMELY on the cheap (full set of green cammies for like 20 bucks). Get an extra set of deserts and greens, 'cause your deserts will be torn up and possibly unservicable from field training, and your greens are gonna smell like the recruit funk... you'll need a good set of those to stand inspections/meritorious boards in.

Also, no more shelter halves... in the hot weather, you sleep in platoon formation under the thunderdomes in the field.... weird, but it works.

mrbsox is correct- keep your gear CLEAN, TIGHT, SECURE. Period.
