In my school ive noticed that the American flags in my school ahve several things wrong with them, and I have brought this to the attention of the board, they have told me to go through the school and make a list of all the flags and room numbers that they need replacing. Now the reason I care so much is because my Grandfather, a Vietnam vet, has brought me up with respect and honor for the American flag and the forces behind her, and too see the flags in school in such a bad condition is kinda disturbing, ive seen some with coffee stains, faded, torn, burn holes, cuts, fraying, marker stripes, and other marks and/or problems. I have talked with my Grandpa about this and he told me that Hamlin V.F.W. Post 6703 would sell the school American flags to replace the ones they are donating to the V.F.W. for a proper burning ceremony, but what makes me think, is that everybody that ive told thinks its a stupid idea, even a friend who is joining the Corps with me. I Think im in the right ehre and so does all the other teachers, but is there anybody else who agrees with me about something like this? I mean, The Flags are in BAD condition and well it was enough to the point where i picked up a flag, and took ehr down to the office to tell them, I just hope it doesnt take to long to replace them, becuase to me, obviously more than others, is a big deal

Poolee I commend you for your dedication to the flag. Sometimes in life you have to stand up for what you believe in, even if you are the only one standing. As for your friend who is joining the Corp, in time he will learn. For there is something that feels your soul when you're standing in formation for morning colors. As I'm sure my fellow Marines would agree you are in the right. Stay Motivated Poolee! :marine:

Your in the right. Sadley, as TF said, sometimes you stand alone. Stand for what is right. The hek with what the other kids say. The flag is a symbol of what we believe. Some thing as simple as making sure it is kept in good condition is a profound statement on how you view the country. Go about your business, you'll feel better about it and though some may not say anything, they'll respect you. You'll make a good Marine some day, Keep your nose clean.
