Anyone else think there's a possibility that there will be a war with them? All Kim Jong Il needs is a "Reason" to attack. He worries me more than the terrorists do.

Does anyone else think that there's a possibility of war or am I overestimating Kim Jong Il's ability

well, there's always the POSSIBILITY of a war. that's just life. full of uncertainties. Heck, we have been on the brink of war wit hNorth Korea for as long as I can remember. I even remember back in 1994, I had this 2nd LT, who LOVED to tell us all, "I bet we are at war with North Korea by the end of next year" he must have said that at LEAST once a month.

is it possible? sure. do I think it likely in the near future? ( near being the next 1-2 years) not really. but then again, what the heck do I know?

technically we're still at war w/ the DPRK, in the midst of a long ass cease fire.

Kim Jong Il strikes me as the type to milk propaganda for every dime its worth. Unless we have national assets deep inside North Korea, we really don't know when he is bulls*tting and when he is for real.

The South Korean forces and ROKMC will be able to hold the line until we fully mobilze. Don't be surprised if we see a Japanese Heavy Brigade join the fight if N Korean gets froggy.

Even recent Chinese press releases show deep concern on N Korea's belligerent attitude.

Right you are ivalis. The war with DPRK was never over just taking a break and could flare back up at any time. I know that we are reactiong to their current threat status vigorously because I saw that on c-span last week. The Senate Armed Forces Committee was questioning the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the things that I heard said certainly sounded like there is a definite possibility of some sort of military action.

Truman should have let McArthur finish this thing in 1952 when he had the dinks on the run and would have chased them into the sea. Oh well, politics, politics, politics.

Yes, politics it is. We will yank his chain when we think the time is right.

A note of caution, he wants to rejoin the north with the south and that didn't work well for us in Nam. Politics!

I hear the PRC had enough of NK. At least we won't have them to worry about this time around if there's a war

ALWAYS WORRY ABOUT PRC!!!

thats kinda naive thinking there, boaz, no offense intended, but when a government throws around the death penalty the way THEY do, I am sure they would have no problems with getting involved in another Korean conflict.

Well we have China on our side now. Not like we can still bring a would of hurt on NK anyways. The chinese would cross that border into NK so fast it would make Il's head explode, and not to mention so many of them would too.

"China on our side"? I think that China is on their side. Behold the New World Order!

China....on our side? HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHA! Don't make me laugh! The only reason China is not stabbing us in the back is because they need our money for their products. Hu Jintao should hang along side Kim Jong Il

Easy solution to keeping N. Korea in line. Tell China to sit on them or we'll put a "Trade Embargo on their A**". I went to a Marine Recruiting Station the other day to get some goodies. Would you believe it everything they was handing out was "Made in China".

now that just seems wrong, doesn't it jfreas?

I hear that the French are running the Marine Corps Mess Halls these day's. Makes you wonder why the Marine Corps is not still running the chow halls with cooks and messmen.

My mistake on our side, but I remember my recruiting telling me something along the lines of China telling NK that they would cross that border as fast as they did in the 50s but not to fight any U.S. or SK forces.

Anyone who thinks China is not planning for war with America, is dead or not paying attention.. at every opportunity China has clearly said they are planning war with American forces, they have a loose federation with Russia, and Iran and are trading cash for tech and support from Russia, the 9/11 attacks can be found in Unrestricted Warfare, by Qiao Liang and Wang Xiangsui, Beijing: PLA Literature. A book written by PLA Sr. officers.. this book was written long before the 9/11 attacks took place there is..

cryptome.org/cuw.htm or you can get the book from the normal places like Amazon..

Saying China would help us do anything is not a realistic thought.. the F117 that was lost (shot down) in the Balkans was "thought" due China's "testing" of its passive coherent location system for defeating stealth technologies, and the "accidental US cruise missile attack against the PRC embassy in Belgrade" was payback for the F117 and all the intel that China was feeding the bad guys.. or so the scuttlebutt goes...

You are exactly right Nagalfar. China continues to build, (with our money) a military that will be Very hard to stop if it can be stopped at all!

On another site, I read that NK stated that China can be a target.

No matter how stupid NK is, i don't think its military is stupid enough to start a war. If they did, it would be over real quick because it is such a small country. I doubt they'd use nukes in a state of panic because of the retaliation the U.S. and China would place on them. But of course, but then it could end up looking like the end of the movie War Games-->No one wins. But that is really confusing and takes a bit of explaining.

HardJedi
02-17-05, 04:39 PM
don't think they'd start a war becuase of how SMALL they are? WHAT? what kinda sense does THAT make? you ever noticed the size of great britain? not like they have alot of land mass, and look at what they did historically. Or even Better, look at Germany, or the Romans?

since when did the SIZE of a place matter much, when someone decides they want to start some crap?

Well spoken Hardjedi.

The truth is they can do whatever they want whenever they want unless United Nations Peacekeeping troops steps in, or they have some form of resistance from the United States.

Either way size does not matter, even the smallest country can form an alliance with a neighboring country, therefore doubling or tripling the size of its military overnight.

N Korea has the 3rd or 4th largest army in the world. 20,000 arty tubes at the dmz.

02-17-05, 09:59 PM
And how many troops and tubes does China have?

North Korea we can nuke but China will nuke us back.

02-19-05, 02:43 PM
whoa whoa whoa, you must've misunderstood me. I didn't say they would start a country because they were small, i was talking about square miles small, as in china and the U.S. would run through it quickly. I know NK has a decent army but i also doubt china would side with them because it would mean the end to their trade with us.

The conspiracy nut in me says that we have plenty of aces up our sleeve from the skunk works from Area 51.

But putting enough boots on the ground for the last 100 yards against 200,000,000 Chinese is going to be one motherf*cking tough job!

Yes it is a major possibility we may go to war with Kim Jung Il and North Korea. However the war, for lack of a better word, would be "easier" than the current one in the Middle East. In Korea we would be fighting a uniformed army, unlike them terrorist son of a *****es. And regarding the nuclear situations. Kim Jung Il has threatened nuclear attack, which he may have war heads, but he does not have the long range capabilities to hit the United States. But China, South Korea, Japan and Russia would be at risk. But that is were "shock and awe" bombing come into affect. Bomb their launch sites within 15 minutes of declared war and they can’t do anything about it. And coalition forces could possibly win the war with very little fighting. If China is on our side they would stop supplying Korea with the needed food to supply the North Korean Army, which is supposed to be used to feed the starving population. And if China doesn’t side with us, we can easily blockade ports and trade routes. Kim Jung Ill is a sadistic, self righteous son of a ***** and will continue to send the North Korean Army in to battle. An army that will be shell shocked, starved, and whose morale we be virtually zero. And would be easily taken out by A FEW GOOD MARINES. Which means Kim Jung Il himself could be taken out of power, and one less world threat would be in power. Making the whole world safer.

Semperfidelis: The DPRK troops are as brainwashed now as they were then. They will fight to whatever end for the "Dear Leader". Their morale will be pretty high.

I'm not here for a concrete answer, but I truly belive that war with North Korea is a possibility.

Plato said, "Only the dead have seen the end of war." And he couldn't be more correct...there's always gonna be conflict somewhere.

IF we do go to war with North Korea, I have sufficient doubt it'll be a cake-walk...no conflict ever is.

BOAZ

i know that they will fight for their "Dear Leader". But every Army needs to eat. and 2 months of not eating will greatly reduce their Morale.

Sorry to revive this old topic, but...

Just heard yesterday that the DPRK is going to test a nuke underground.
