Found a few neat points while searching for Flag flying data.

When (2 times/places) is the Flag NOT flown at half mast... EVER

didn't I answer this? Or at least guess? Is one of them the tomb of the unknowns?

How about the main flag at Arlington National Cemetary and I'd say the Iwo Jima Monument also. I have no clue really. I'm just guessing.

Made me 'double take' when I read it.

It'll seem odd, but make sense.

USS Arizona memorial, I was there a couple of years ago and seem to remember something about that. The second one I am still thinking about.....

#1 - In battle

#2 - On the moon (Think about it - who's going to go up there to lower it to half staff?)

Correct or not, the only info I could find is at: http://www.petersonflags.com/flaginfo.htm about halfway down the page. http://pages.prodigy.net/rogerlori1/emoticons/dontknow.gif

When a displayed Flag cannot be placed at half mast, what is the acceptable way to show mourning??

OK, thought I'd give someone else a chance, but looks like nobody wants to play.

Sooooo - - -
" . . . it has become an accepted practice to use a "Mourning ribbon" on home flag staffs where the flag cannot be lowered. Typically, the ribbon is purple or purple and black, and is attached to the pole at the top of the flag. The mourning ribbon is usually 2' - 3' in length x 2" - 4" wide. It can be made of any material, although nylon will hold up to the weather."

(From the same website I previously linked to.)
