Just... wow. I honestly don't know what to say about that one...

General Lewis B. Puller USMC was not a recipent of the Medal of Honor, five Navy Crosses and many more awards.
Many believe that he should have been a recipent of the Medal of Honor instead of a Navy Cross that was given for actions of valor.

The actual USPS website says it will be released on 6/22/05. It is called the "Distinguished Marine" collection. You will be able to pre-order a month or two ahead.

Chesty Puller

Lt. Gen. Lewis "Chesty" Puller was another United States Marine Corps Heroes synonymous with the Marines' bravado in World War II and Korea.

Puller served most honorably in World War II, when his 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment took a brave stand on Guadalcanal in 1942. His Marines suffered fewer than 70 casualties while killing 1,400 Japanese soldiers in the battle to defend an airfield.

Puller later led Pendleton's 1st Regiment into Inchon, Korea, where he was famous for his gung ho optimism when Pendleton's 1st Division was surrounded by more than 100,000 Chinese soldiers at the Chosin Reservoir.

"They're on our right, they're on our left, they're in front of us, they're behind us; they can't get away from us this time," he is often credited with saying at the time.

Long before he was a general, Puller made his name as a young officer during U.S. colonial campaigns in Haiti and Nicaragua ---- the so-called Banana Wars, on which current Marine commanders modeled the Pendleton-based Marines' mission back to Iraq earlier this year.

"This is the right place for Marines in this fight, where we can carry on the legacy of 'Chesty' Puller in the Banana Wars in the same sort of complex environment," 1st Marine Division Commander Maj. Gen. James Mattis wrote his troops just before about 25,000 local Marines deployed to Iraq in February.
