Henderson Hall Marines are recognized for their service

Two Henderson Hall Leathernecks were awarded Certificates of Commendation during a special ceremony at the Battalion Headquarters conference room Monday.

Cpl. Ronald Hartman, 20, control chief, Motor Transport, received the certificate for professional achievement and outstanding performance of duties while serving in his billet from Oct. 1, 2004 to Dec. 30, 2004.

Lance Cpl. Orlando Roman, Jr., 24, received the same award for service in his billet as administration clerk for the Deputy Commandant of Programs and Resources, during the last quarter of 2004.

"It is important that we take time to recognize the tremendous work that you've been doing, and the example that you're setting for the other Marines of the D.C. area," said Maj. Billy B. Brown, commanding officer, Headquarters & Service company, Headquarters Battalion, to the awardees before the ceremony.

Retired Navy Master Chief Mike Baker, manager in military markets, GEICO, and retired Navy Captain, Michael McHugh, vice president, membership, NMAA presented Marine of the Quater plaques, the book "Fields of Fire - A Story of Vietnam," and other items to show appreciation for the Marines' commendable work and the great example they set for other servicemembers in the area.

Maj. Billy B. Brown, officiated this ceremony.
