"Eyah, Eyah_ _ _" It was the Marine yell, they had learn it at Parris Island and Quantico.
That came from "At the Belleau Wood" by Robert B.Asprey.
I was looking for it on the web, found three sources, one being Chinese, the next was a Native American source and the last source that I found came from the bible, Eyah a name for God.
Marines had been to China before World War I, that could place that battle cry came from.
The Native American source might also be place that battle cry came from.
Could they've been saying "God, God _ _ _"
Next, there was "Gung Ho" , than came Oorah!
It was interesting reading about this Marine yell
or battle cry.
Its also part of our history.
