Indonesian Responds to US Tsunami Relief Efforts: “Give Us What We Demand. Then, Get Out!”

If there were any residual questions as to how Muslim countries react to US assistance, accompanying world disasters, one need only look to the predominantly Islamic country of Indonesia. The Indonesian government has demanded that foreign aid workers be out of its country by 31 March. As the United States has and is providing the lion’s share of the relief efforts, there is no real question as to which group is being targeted by this demand. We are. Our 2,000 assisting Marines have also been warned by Indonesia that they are not to carry weapons to defend themselves. This is an extremely strange way of saying “thank you”. Although the Indonesian government justifies its statements by alluding to the ‘continued insurgent fighting in Aceh’, Islam (joining US and world-wide leftists) has already and soundly blamed the United States for this disaster.
Several inane theories, blaming the United States, have been floated and fomented by both Islam and the Left. The leftists, of course, continue their lunacy by blaming global warming; in large part brought on by the United States ‘because its citizens drive SUVs’. That lunacy was to be expected from the Left. But, Islam has developed a few more far-reaching angles. Its first proposed hypothesis, which came from Dubai, was touted on or around 5 January. That theory states that the USA knew, ahead of time, that a catastrophic earthquake in the Indian Ocean was imminent and that the US did nothing to warn anyone. The truth is that the US immediately, upon learning of the massive earthquake and potential tsunami, sent myriad urgent emails and called the affected areas. However, attempting to perpetuate the lie, a blogger calling himself “al-Madhri” wrote: "The Americans don't care who or how many die. All that matters to them is to continue to rule the world." Were it not for further comments from Islam, one could discount this blogger as a kook. However, Islamic television personalities have now said that Allah caused the earthquake and attendant tsunami to destroy Muslims who associate with non-Muslim tourists; specifically Christians and Jews from the United States.

One way or the other, the leftists and Islamists will find a way to blame everything negative, which occurs on the planet, on the US; on us. These incessantly and determinedly hateful groups and individuals will inevitably find ways to present the US as the cause of all the world’s ills. Now, this apparently also encompasses natural disasters! Note: If we are truly that powerful, why not just wave our hands and rid the planet of these folks? It seems to me that it would not only be a lot faster but, a heck of a lot less expensive for us. It would also allow us to keep the land so that “greedy Western Imperialists” could “seize” and develop it at will…now that all of the dissenters are gone. Suffice it to say, these mindless ‘conspiracy theories’ are beyond rationality and remain ludicrous. It is and always has been the compassion and essential goodness of the citizens of the United States that helps others in their times of need. This is part of our basic character. This character is, also, due the foundation faith upon which our country was established and built.

So, despite the rhetoric, anger and fury expressed by those who resent us, we will help the helpless. Irrespective of the disgust those who hate us attempt to instill in their followers, we will assist the truly needy. This is the large measure of our national integrity. We have never, with any good conscience, been able to walk away from helping others to first survive and, then, thrive. It is who and what we are.
