To be a moderator you have to be equal, which means you will **** your friends off. I had to get a lesson in that lol. I dont have a thing in this with sgt. smitty, as I said, he aint ever done nor said anything against me, and only he knows if he would make a good moderator. Personsally, I would say yes, he would, as long as he remembered to tone it down just alittle, because I think he knows as well as I do, you would have to walk that fine line, even if yer buddie is gettin beat up on and the other guy is in the right.
Shaffer can be a dickhead as people will say, but others will say saint, it's your point of view. He has allowed me to express mine on here and many others. I should have been banned for what I said more then most and I wasnt, he knew I was blowin off some steam. I am not defendin Shaffer, only the fact that I know where he is comin from now. Can I say sgtsmitty be suspended, I dont know, from my limited point of view of what happened I would say no, but I dont know what happened, only a few do know.
I just say, dont nominate those who dont want to be nominated because they know as well as I do this aint a great job to have, nominate yourself and find out the pain it is. But if he wants the job then I think Shaffer will let him have it.

Smitty would be a fne choice if ya ask me. He's been a leader so he knows that Shaffer will get those, you know what he said or did emails lol. No, he does' not have supreme rule, its us, the user's who have that, we dont come to this site then this site shuts down. But it is his site, dedicated to Marines. We can go to any site we want too, and we should, but there are only a few sites where we feel at home. This site did not tell me that my former Lt. Col. was a Lt. Gen., I found that out on my own. Have fun here, find a old buddy, if yer like me then they wont respond but try it because they might.

In my humble opinion - the choice of a new moderator should be left to Jerry - even though he is a baby of 34, he has put the time, the talent and the total dedication to the site. I am sure his choice will be the right one - and if it's not, Miss Ellie and I will take him out behind the barn...............

troup901 has got some good points...What is the job of a moderator? Can he or she do an effective job with such a diverse group of people if he/she ain't qualified? Based on what I've seen here...it's a full time job. You are dealing with some sensitive issues and if you don't earn the respect of the members and allow them to blow off steam or voice an opinion....they will go somewhere else. As far as getting banned from this site goes...I don't think it should happen because someone voices an opinion and disrespects a member or admin person. Most of that stuff can be worked out...one on one via PM or e-mail. I do believe that the members need a say in who is going to be calling the shots on our comments....

One final thought on this subject: A GREAT MODERATOR WILL SET BACK AND WATCH THE ACTION AND NOT JUMP IN TOO QUICK...THE MEMBERS ARE CAPABLE OF SELF MODERATING AND HAVE PROVED THAT ON MANY OCCASIONS.....kinda like a bouncer in a club....the patrons will do his job most of the time...if you let them.
