Thanks all I really appreciate it.. I will know more tomorrow when I get home from the appointment with the surgeon..

01-09-05, 06:54 PM
What kind of surgery are you having? I had both hands and back surgery.

Arlene Horton
01-09-05, 08:44 PM
If you need carpal tunnel surgery I can assure you as long as they give you the I.V. happy juice it won't be too bad. I had both hands done 14 years ago (one at a time) and finally stopped dropping things or having a hard time writing. Sorry to say, the d### things came back and I have to have both done again. I'll see the hand surgeon on 21 January. Had both knees done, right one was done twice and probably will have to have them done again. Torn left rotator cuff repair done and back surgery on 31 August....and that's only the ortho stuff I had done. Wonderful world of nursing...patients get wild and then there are the "two ton tessies" that need 4 or more people to move them. Ahh, yes...the joys of Nursing. I'm sure everything will go well with you . Don't try to be too brave, Marine. TAKE THE PAIN MEDS!

Tammy, with this kind of surgery, afterwards, you cannot pick up anything heavier than a pillow, so keep that in mind.
Will keep you in my prayers .

Arlene I had carpal tunnel surgery done on both ny hands the nerves were severly cut into,,,,luckily it worked out fine for me....when I had a cyst removed from my back...it went deep into my muscles...once I saw the white happy juice run thru the tubes....i became quite silly and felt nothing...entertaind the doc with my smart arse mouth....happy times for one and all! LOL

01-09-05, 09:39 PM
Goodluck with your surgery Tammy/ I go in to repair a torn rotator cuff on the 1st of Feb. It's the same shoulder I did 5 years ago. I was hitting that button on the auto pain-killer machine they had me hooked up to. Think I wore out two of'em before they let me go home. Hang in there let us know how it's goin.

Toby M
01-09-05, 10:13 PM
Good luck with your surgery Gunny...don't do what I did about 15 years ago. I had arthroscopic (sp?) done on my rt. knee and was golfing five days later. Golf-good...same course as my doctor-not good...got my a** chewed for 15 minutes! I guess I was supposed to be doing rehab or something...Point being, find out where your doctor plays golf or in your case, find out where your doctor goes to the range and goes elsewhere...

Tammy, my thoughts are with you. And since you did not tell me before this, when you get better you are going to have to go back in to have a size 13 removed.

mrbsox
01-10-05, 10:51 AM
Carpel Tunnel ???
Mom had it done, regretted it

Others I know regretted it also.

Tell the surgeon you changed your mind, and want the

DOUBLE D's instead

Then send Cook the pictures for him to post :p LOL

Seriously.... prayers are incoming

01-10-05, 11:05 AM
No its not carpal Tunnel. Its diging inside to remove my gall bladder and to check on a couple other things.. Hey Jag, why do I have to get a size 13 removed????

femalemarine_89
01-10-05, 11:06 AM

Cook, why did you change your signature? I was just getting used to the pink.

Either way ya look at it people, surgery is a bit*%. The painkillers are the only plus, unless you're like me an' screw the painkillers. Pain let's me know I'm alive, and alcohol let's me know I'm getting drunk, life's a bowl o' cherries. On a serious note, have fun, 89, try not to look too scared before they put ya under. Prayers and best wishes, darlin', it'll be smoother than the smoothest smoothie, bet on it. Before ya go under, 89, I dare ya to look the doctor square in the eye and seriously ask him,"What are my chances, doc?" No matter how routine an operation is, there's always that split second that the doc doesn't know what to say when asked that question. :D

femalemarine_89
01-10-05, 03:25 PM
Just got home from the appt with the surgeon. Now I am waiting on the approval from Tricare. Hope that dont last too long, then I am waiting on a phone call from the lady that sets up the surgical appts for the surgery. Thanks for all the concern. I do appreciate it. I have told my husband that he is going to have to get no here while I am in the hosp just to let people know how I am doing. Thanks again.

JAG5150
01-10-05, 03:30 PM
Tammy, I thought that you loved your husband, you're going to send him into a room full of Marines. Now that's what I call love. Don't worry, we'll be gentle.

femalemarine_89
01-10-05, 03:31 PM
LOL.. Thanks Jag.. I appreciate that.. Just want him to keep yall informed on what is going on. Neither one of us is feeling too good today so I think we are going to hit the rack and get some shut eye.. Was up all night lastnight with him being really sick.

JAG5150
01-10-05, 03:33 PM
All right Tammy, you take care of yourself.

Osotogary
01-10-05, 03:36 PM
Before I went under, as I was being hauled down to the O Room, I made sure I that I said hello to everyone who passed me. Later the Doc's said that I was one of their best patients because I was friendly and relaxed. They asked me why I was saying hello to everyone as I was being transported? I told them that I, frankly, did not know who was going to do the procedure and that I wanted to start things off on the right foot.:)
Take care femalemarine_89. You will be fine.

Timber
01-10-05, 03:50 PM
Take care Tammy. Does sound like things are normal though Marine taking care of a sailor LOL.

Do hope you both get better soon.

What the hell does a gall bladder do anyhow, help ya digest, and what? Lotta problems for a little thing. Tell ya what, 89, keep the damn thing afterward and then fry it up. 89, at the table,"Digest that, baby!" Keep ya in my thoughts and prayers.
Here's something for your road to recovery.

Gunny, good luck. At our Clinic, we treat all sorts of muscle,
joint pain, including carpal tunnel type pain, and everyone gets
better. Before you start getting cut on, go to a chiropractor and get a different opinion about what is wrong with you. My prayers to you, Semper Fidelis, Tom Murray, SSGT USMC 1973-1984.
(I have had twelve heart surgeries, two stomach surgeries,
knee surgeries, and every single one of them were unneccessary)

Timber
01-10-05, 07:06 PM
No you don't need a gall bladder but I don't think Eating it will help.

And since you said " You don't need the double D's your close enough " Are you Catherine Bell's twin?

Waiting for insurance company approval is the worst part of needing hospitalization. You'd think the money was coming out of their pockets. You know you have a great support system with all us Marines praying for you. Since I had 2 "swabbie sons" I'll be nice to your hubby when he clues us in on how you're doing. Semper Fi and very best wishes, Tammy.

Not that this has anything to do with femalemarine surgery, we just wanted to know when she's going in, so that one of us can visit her and take a pic of her from behind while she wears one of those hospital gowns. LOL

LOL.. Well Ron is living the Marine Corps life.. He is funny, he is soo much different than other sailors.. I guess over the years I have rubbed off on him. I remember at one time I told him that I can change.. He said hell no I love you the way that you are.. Good thing cause I dont think you will ever get the Marine out of me.
