View Full Version : Ignore List?!
I'm perplexed, again. All of a sudden I've noticed some posts say something to the affect "this individual in on your 'ignore list'". Hmm, I wasn't aware that I had an "ignore list". This happen to anyone else? I suppose there's a "remove from ignore list" button here somewhere. Any ideas why this happened and how to correct it?
Thanks for your concern.

If you're talking about Sgt. Smitty, I believe that he was either suspended or removed for some choice words that he had for another member.

Heh, I dont ever check my PM's so dont feel bad about not knowing about the ignore list.
Oh, well, I guess that answers that. Thanks, I was thinking I screwed something up, which I've been known to do from time to time.

Suspensions are above our pay grade! Ellie gives us Marines a lot of latitude, and a lot less to the poolees (as it should be).

He suggested Shaffer was banning people for weak reasons..Most of the people were banned for good reasons. There may be more to it, but but banning someone for saying Shaffer banned people for weak reasons seems strange..but then again I may not have all the info on why Sgt. Smitty was banned.

Thanks for the insight Garry.. Maybe Jag knows.. I know I got a message from him and he told me that he wrote to Shaffer but had not heard back from him yet.. That is why when things go the wrong direction, I have learned to back out of the th read and not speak what is always on my mind. I enjoy being here and hangin with ya'll and dont want to end up getting banned because I cant keep my mouth shut..

I don't know the whole story....but i feel speaking your mind is a good thing......unless you are disrespectful and just spouting off punk sh*t like that last army puke did
That's kind of the way I see it, too. I've read some posts on here that have gotten quite heated, but I've never had to dodge any bottles going through the air. There again, I don't know all there is to know about it either.

Heck I am always dodging bottles.. That is the way of life.. Just sometimes when you are still the new member on the block you feel things out before you speak..

Just to let you know a little about what I do, there were some PM's between the two, Sgt. had some choice words for Shaffer and a home phone # was given. I think that it may have been a little too much and when push came to shove, Shaffer pulled the plug.

I dont know smitty and never had a problem with him and he was put on my ignore list. If he got banned or suspended he must have had some harsh words cause me and shaffer had our battles and some nasty stuff was said back and forth, in both the forum and PM, but I was never suspended. If ya dont believe me then ask shaffer, he can tell ya ol troop can be a dickhead when he wants to be lol. But I would prefer he be taken off my ignore list because I have respect for anyone who has the balls to say what he or she thinks, I might always agree with it and if I do I will state I agree with it. Atleast I know that knowledge is gained by the ability to listen.

I don't agree with putting folks on the ignore list. It should be up to each individual if he want's to ignore that person or not.

IMO if someone is too lazy to put someone on ignore than they get what they get. Oh well..I know my role, I'm not a moderator...but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

The Portsmouth post actually, they sent 6 of us from our post, 36 total from our district down there. District 8 and District 5 took the biggest hits as far as sendin manpower in. I still remember listenin to the CB and hearin the truck driver say, someone better tell dem boys down there to stop cause da state boys are rollin in and in big numbers lol. I got sent to a FD down on Charles st or something. I can remember walkin across the practice turf at Spinney field. But like I said, we didnt take over, we was only back up to the Cincy officers, they went above and beyond.

I remember that night well.. I was on duty when the call came over the radio of the shooting.. At the same time that came over was on another call at a hotel where a man was shot.. We were only 1 block away from where it happened and we got there and the individual was gone.. had to get the k9 out that night as well. Never did find the person.. We were told it was a female.. Searched all the rooms, The description of the person didnt sound like no female to any of us..

Yup, down in the hood its a different reality than what the papers print up for the suburbia folk.
Generally we had the "Bigger Thug" principal. 'Justice' was carried out by the bigger thug. Darwinian, harsh, brutal.
We actually had a family meeting about dealing with a cousin's abusive husband. Some were prepared to disappear him. It was finally decided that until she got her sh*t together, she would just find another assh*le to beat her up.

Well of course dope was a part of the cousin's and her old man's lifestyle. She took a bullet in the tricep when one of his deals went bad.
The f*cked up part was that the Canuckistan government has a Victim Services compensation fund. She got $1,800 of tax payer's dollars for getting shot in a drug deal gone bad.

It's my understanding that if you are put on the ignore list..you have been banned from posting because of something that you said that a moderator or administrator didn't agree with. I guess we as members don't have a say about our own ignore list. I don't agree with that but I'm not calling the shots. I don't think it takes much to become a member of the ignore role.

The thing is though, you should not have to walk on egg shells when you come in here. Things that are said should be said in free will and should not be censored. I dont think you should be put on ignore list just for speaking your own opinion.

Who is walking on eggshells?
First I have heard of that. People who normally walk on eggshells are people who know they are doing something wrong or pushing the boundries and people who simply lack common sense.
In either case, if they are walking on eggshells, then so be it. The rules are posted for everyone to read. You agreed to them when you registered. If you don't like it....leave.
This is not directed to anyone specifically. It is simple the way it is. Like it or leave it.
As for censorship, get the F out of here. There is censorship every where you turn in the world. It is a way of life. There is censorchip because of stupid people. Stupid people who think they know everything and open their mouths when they should have kept it shut.

There are all kinds of sites out there like this one. Some have stole content, tools, graphics and tried hard to be like this one. They have been trying for 2+ years. Yet it will never be like this site. The biggest reason being....Yep you guessed it...CENSORSHIP!!!
All the other boards have constant bickering and fighting. They won't censor their boards or follow their own rules. Thise boards are dead...check them out for yourself.

Yes you should be shocked about Boy Scouts! LOL
Altar Boys and Choir Boys fall into the same boat. Despicable(?) currs...and then they become adults, meet girls who drink Jack Daniels and Marines who embellish the English language. They are doomed, never to be the same.

So what is the problem. Marines will be Marines sometimes we are the best things on Earth other times we are downright mean and nasty and very blunt about it. Has to be thing biggest complaint I get from people I know is that I am very blunt and unsympathetic. The honesty sometimes hurts and the sensitive ones don't want to hear it.
