Stress cards

The last few years I have heard rumor of this thing that they now issue in boot camp called a stress card. I however have been unable to confirm the existance of any such card. Maybe some of you Marines that have been around the last few years can clarify if such an abomination does exist or if it is just an urban legend:marine:

what??? i swear if the Marine Corps went to stress cards...its time for me to get out and i plan on making a career out of this!! the Corps is my life and if they went to thattype of crap i would be so upset...my dad was in the old Corps and before i joined he was telling me awesome boot camp stories and how hard it was!! I finally got there to Parris Island and thought it was the easiest thing! We are suppose to be the best fighting force and yet you cant even touch another Marine without getting some type of charge sheet wrote up on you!!!
Im always looking for a challenge and well Im hoping when i go to the grunts in March it will be different!!
But with the stress card crap....they havent gave those out, i talk to Marines that have just got out so.....i would really hope they dont start that stuff though!!
The Army hands them out but go figure!! they also have 3 inch circles around there feet when the are in any type of foration and there drill instructor or whatever they call those guys can not go inside that circle! OOH-Rah! Semper Fi, DO or DIE!!!!!! stay Gung-HO!!!!

There is no such thing as a stress card at Marine boot camp. Our DI's told us about the chair force and army getting them, but I talked to one of my chair force buddies and he said it wasn't true. I'm not real sure about stress cards at any boot camp, but there sure as hell weren't any a few months ago. I hope to God that they don't implement them into Marine boot camp. They might as well issue a 12 oz. tube of Vagisil if they hand out stress cards.

For you going into Boot Camp, the cards are available on-line for only $16.95 plus tax.

Below is a FREE sample for 2005 recruits. Just print it out and take it to bootcamp with you.

When you feel stressed out, just hand it to your D.I. and he will provide you with at least five minutes of stress time out.

The cards will soon be available at the Leatherneck mall with my mailing address, where you can send the money.

Wives and girlfriends can buy the new laminated cards with their recruits name printed on the card for only $24.93 and those cards can be used over and over again.

A few years ago I did talk to a new Marine who mentioned the Stress Cards were in use. I could not believe it. If I remember correctly...those cards were put in place for the female Marines. I could see this for other branches of the service but NOT MARINES. Stress is what it's all about.

I am glad to hear that the stress card thing is only rumor, I know that when I was in boot camp if you were stressed then exercise would certainly relieve your stress. We all know that the hats were never short on exercise now don't we. Although I do believe that I will be buying one of those cards from Sparrowhawk, you never know when you might need one. Come to think about it SparrowHawk can you print some of those for my children? I sometimes play D.I. when they are unruly and thrash them until I'm tired. I'm sure that they would appreciate a couple of cards.

I talked with a younger Marine at work that was a DI and he said that stress cards were for real.

He said that he told a recruit, "If you pull that stress card I will show you what stress is all about".

According to him, that ended that! LOL

My Senior Drill Instructor (Sgt Wade P. Gibbs) in 1994 was the best damn drill instructor that ever lived. He became the depot DI School NCOIC as 1st Sergeant Gibbs. In a conversation I had with 1st Sergeant Gibbs, he has never seen a stress card on the depot from 1982-2002. My cousin graduated in 2004. My other cousin graduated in 2003. No stress cards.

Now, unless they were in use before 1982 or after October 2004, I'm saying they never existed.

I have had many Marines under my charge during my time and none of them had one - PI or SD.

No Marine here has ever seen one. They don't exist. Maybe a unsuspecting recruit got a hold of Sparrowhawk's fake stress cards and tried to use it.

I've heard that the recruits go on humps wearing shoes now. So their feet won't get blisters? If that is true that is a crock of s***! My DI's told me in 94 that they didn't care how much our feet hurt we were going to deal with it and move on.

Have a good laugh......... But I have two sources that say for a limited time the US. Marine Corps on a temporary basis did infact try the........... Stress card system. One of these sources came from an E7 that works at a MEPS. in the mid west. And the other came from a close friends son who went thru boot camp sometime in the early 90's. The Gunny I worked with told me the whole thing was a flop from the start.......DAH....!!! Personally when I first heard of it back in the mid 90's I thought it was a joke. And not to funny a joke at that.......... I'm sort of an old corps type of Marine........... The first thing that I thought of was. What the F _ _ K are they trying to do to our Marine Corps....?
If a guy can't handle the stress while going thru boot camp. He sure as hell won't beable to handle stress in battle....Semper Fi

Here to save you with the truth.......

Last year I was talking to a Senior Airman at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio Texas. We were sharing stories about boot camp and when I finished talking about the Crucible he actually said: " You should have given your D.I. a stress card!"

Never hearing this term before I of course responded: "What the hell is that?!" Then he actually got into his wallet and pulled one out!!! It was the size of a social security card and blue.

I was blown away!!! It must be nice to know that when times get tough (or Drill S. 's get tough) you can veto what their doing and take a break!!!

I for one feel thankful that the Marines do not issue these cards,
as I actually enjoyed the pain......it made me and all my friends who we are today.

And MARINE... why would you want to compare BC stories with a fly boy? Of all the branches they are on the bottom or on the top if you are considering Moral Fortitude.

Only one fly boy I ever respected partially was 1st Msgt Parmenter and he got an OH S**t because he transfer out of the Marines to the AF.
