HENDERSON HALL, Washington, D.C.(June 21, 2002) -- It's a beautiful day outside, the sun is shining, there's a slight breeze and what comes to most Marines' minds? A beautiful day for running. But how many Marines pay attention to the flag conditions? How many Marines think about the heat-related illnesses, their causes, preventive steps and treatment?
Everyone knows what's coming next, right? It happens every year, some article on being careful in the sun gets published in the local papers. Of course, they all have great information, but come on, how many Marines do you know actually get to wear light colored, loose fitting clothing while PTing, or on a working party? Not many. So before you blow this article off as another one of "those," read a little further, you might be surprised.
