Protests Planned for Bush Inauguration
WASHINGTON — As President Bush's team works furiously to get ready for the 55th presidential inauguration on Jan. 20, events are also being planned in protest of the president's big day.

The election is over. The fight is not.
Elections are only one part of democracy. We need to think strategically about direct action, learn from a rich history of nonviolent activism, and develop new tactics to take on this administration.

Let's start from the start: Inauguration Day.

On January 20th, 2005, we're calling for a new kind of action. The Bush administration has been successful at keeping protesters away from major events in the last few years by closing off areas around events and using questionable legal strategies to outlaw public dissent. We can use these obstacles to develop new tactics. On Inauguration day, we don't need banners, we don't need signs, we just need people.

We're calling on people to attend inauguration as they are: members of the public. Once through security and at the procession, at a given signal, we'll all turn our backs on Bush. A simple, clear and coherent message.

This is where I have learned you have to live and let live. No matter how much it ****es you off, just like I dont get upset at people who vote liberal. I'm not a liberal, but people have fought and died so they can voice their opinion I much rather them be able to voice their opinion than to be oppressed and not allowed to.

there is nothing wrong with voicing your opinion.. but this is taking it too far with what they want to do. This is a time for support.. not only for the CIC but also for the military.. he has one hell of a tough job on his plate.. I wouldnt want to be the one sitting in his chair.

"This is a time for support."

Not too sure about that comment. It sounds like an open door for the administration to do anything they choose and we will support them.

I say that we hold their feet to the fire---always---no matter who is in power.

Out troops need our support. So, if that is what you meant, I agree!

Sour grapes

Nothing but sour grapes from a bunch of whiney-assed losers. Cant even be a good sport about it. Let these pantywastes waste their time and energy. They should be looking for a candidate for 2008, but whatever. The more they make asses of themselves, the less chance they have of ever being represented. I say let them dig their own graves.

Thanks Gunny,

I personally see a HUGE split among Democrats who call themselves liberals.

There is a liberal side that is predominantly black (my parents, relatives, and siblings for example) who are VERY religious. Even my brother currently in Afghanistan (Army) has turned to the Bible, something I never thought I would see. These folks are usually very family oriented, but even in that group there is a split between those that take a great deal of responsibility for their families and believe the government is responsible for their lives and the "white man" is "keeping them down", then there are those that just go out and sell drugs, chase women, stay drunk, and end up on the street again believing that the government or the "white man" is responsible for their situation and should bail them out.

Then there is what I refer to as a "fringe" liberal who is usually white, very socialist, PETA member, ACLU supporter, environmentalist whacko, believes that nobody should be rich, have nothing but vehement disdain for ALL religion and dont ever want to be reminded that Christianity exists, even though 90% of America is Christian.

I've never actually seen these two sub-groups of leftists compare notes, but I would LOVE to see them slug it out. If one got power in this country, the others would have to grit their teeth every time the one in power passed a law or supported a cause. I could just imagine Rev Al Sharpton as President completely alienating the Socialist fringe leftists in this country if he ever won.

But they all seem to vote Democrat. Figure that one out. I really want to see them slug it out. Maybe they'll just beat each other to a pulp much like the Soviets and Germans did before we went to Europe in WWII. HAHAHA

They don't even compare notes with reality or have a clue of what the majority of the American public supports.
