We'd play poker at the barracks on the weekends. We called it 'penny-ante', but it wasn't unusual for us to be $100 down or $300 to the good!

There was a Corporal from Chattanooga Tennessee. His favorite saying was, "A show dog pile of money!"

I finally asked him, "What the hell does that mean?"

"A pile of money so high, that a little show dog couldn't even jump over it!"

We'd usually have a few beers with our poke game. But one time this Marine started hitting the Jack Daniels pretty hard.

A few hours later he asked to borrow a twenty. I didn't have it to spare and he got sort of mad, at least I think he was mad. We couldn't really understand his speech by then.

He lunged at me but only managed to fall across my legs. When I jumped up, he just rolled off onto the floor.

Everyone started to laugh and he decided to stagger back to his rack. We had fun with his hangover the next morning! ;)
