When a duo of Navy jets roared over San Diego Bay yesterday afternoon, hundreds of people let out a collective "wow."
And the "wows" kept up as about 100,000 – with many sporting patriotic red, white and blue – watched the military display jets, ships and skills at the Fleet Week Sea-n-Air Parade.
"We try to support anything that has to do with the military," said Jim Meyer, who took a train to San Diego from Carlsbad with his wife, Bonnie, so they wouldn't have to worry about parking on Harbor Island.
