The associate Press picture says Maupin is a Marine?

This web page list him as an Army Specialist.

I all confused, if he was military, wouldn't he be a POW.
Instead of a hostage.
Now, we the question might be what's the different?
if we never declared a state of war on Iraq before, he would than be a hostage.
But by the same rational, what is the status of all our dead in Iraq.
Making me all confused...

Besides it being an interesting picture, at first I thought it was a picture that Cheney had signed, but from reading the photos caption, Cheney signed his shirt.

The story is that Dick Cheney was appearing yesterday, somewhere and the above picture was included in the story, the story was political and that's not part of the post here. The story didn't mention anything about the man or his son, only that Dick Chaney had signed his shirt and that his Marine son was missing in Iraq.

But since then as Millrat pointed out, I've checked it out. the man's son was Army that was executed. in June of this year.

His son became missing a short time after Cpl. Wassef Ali Hassoun, was reportedly kidnapped in Iraq and then realeased. Remember that story?

Just some news stories that catches the mind.

I'm pretty sure Matt Maupin is in the Army National Guard. I do know he is not a Marine. He is still missing in Iraq though. Has been for quite a while.
