Can you imagine if this presidential race is decided by punk-rockers for Kerry?

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - They may not be soccer moms or NASCAR dads, but kids with Mohawks, black leather and multiple piercings are getting their own campaign tour of swing states.

Justin Sane, lead singer for the group Anti-Flag, thinks the anti-President Bush concert tour kicking off this weekend can make a difference.

"I do believe a song can change the world, because people are inspired by music," he said. "There is a lot of emotion tied up in this presidential race. People are feeling the need to express themselves."

The punkvoter.com tour will hit several swing states, including Ohio and Florida.

At the same time, some of the biggest figures in music - Bruce Springsteen, the Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam and a dozen other acts - will launch their own concert tour next week to raise money for the Democrats.

Punkvoter.com's first CD, "Rock Against Bush," sold 300,000 copies, and the second volume has passed the 70,000 mark, said Scott Goodstein, punkvoter.com's spokesman.

Reminds me of my High School crew. We were big on non-conformity. About 3 of a dozen of our clique, volunteered for service. 1 Air Force, 1 Nat'l Guard, and me, 1 Marine Corps.

The Air Force guy is now a Lt Col, the Guard puke dropped a cement block on his foot before Gulf War I, Me? I waited and waited with no recall order.

Shoot! If I had stayed in, I'd be a Company Gunny or Senior Major, probably in an O-3 shop.

So it goes. I would have done my job and loved every minute of it!
