terrorism can never be defeated. one cell can be destroyed, but another will always rise to take its place.

Many of my generation remember growing up at the height of the Cold War, hiding under desks during civil defense drills in case the communists attacked us. And now, when parents ask me, what should we tell our children - I think about those desks. We
need to reassure our children that our police and firemen, and military and intelligence workers are doing everything possible to keep them safe.

And we need to explain that because of strong American leadership in the past we don't hide under our desks anymore.

Because of President Bush's leadership and the bravery of our men and women in uniform, I believe our children will grow up in a world where today's terror alerts have also become a thing of the past.

Speaking of winning the war on terror, this should raise morale come October.

We are going to need alot more Marines and SEAL types to win. The freakin' Chechen terrorists just seized a school. A school. Iraqis just killed 12 Nepalis. What the heck did Nepal ever do to Islam?

And don't forget two planes blown out of the sky last week. I hope somewhere along the line the rest of the world realizes the threat and we aren't the only country fighting the good fight. Nepal probably doesn't have an army. But sooner or later France, Germany, and Russia will wake up and realize that our fight is their fight. Standing on the sidelines is no guarantee for them. There are only two sides here - those who believe in Muslim extremism, and those who don't. There is no middle ground for them. Everyone is the enemy.

Quote by Russian Defense Minister today after school taken over by terrorists-

Russia's defense minister, Sergei Ivanov, said the hostage-taking and other recent attacks marked a declaration of war against Russia.

"It is a different kind of war, where you cannot see your enemy and where there is no front line, but nonetheless this is an entirely real threat," Ivanov told reporters. "Russia is not the only country that faces this new threat."

No, they're not thwe only country. But still we go it alone. Maybe they will wake up, and the coalition of the willing will have a few more willing countries who understand the risk.

Bottom line is shut the damn borders down and allow no one and i mean no one to enter the united states unless a complete back ground investigation is done all the way back till the day they was born. put towers up just like we have in GITMO every 1/2 mile and man them towers with our servicemen and women, if you cross the fence you very well could be shot. Thats what we did in Gitmo back in 72. America needs to get tough and stay tough and let these people know if you harm us or kill us where coming after you and we dont care what country or planet you live in or on. yes i know it sounds alittle drastic but it would work.

"...every 1/2 mile and man them towers with our servicemen and women, if you cross the fence you very well could be shot." That would be really expensive. Budget deficit for security would be okay if they told us up front. It's the misleading and the covering up where I have big problems.

The 'disingenuous film-makers' would have nothing to say if we were given the straight scoop in the first place.

I don't think Russia is in the same boat as we are. They're having terrorist problems because KGB man Putin ran roughshod over Chechnya. The atrocities of the Russian soldiers on the Chechnyan civilian population has been well documented. That's not to excuse the barbarism of the terrorists, but Russia's problems have in large part been brought on by Putin's own jackboot policies concerning Chechnya. It's a pity the Russian people won't be able to get rid of Putin. He controls the media so much that opposition groups have no way of competing with him and his party.

Ok Eddie - I gotta ask -

Besides being against anything that is against the Islamic Extremist, WHY do you feel our involvement in Iraq was a bad idea?

I don't think we can ever eliminate terror completely. You have the Timothy McVeih's the John Malvo's etc. As far as the the Islamic extremists, President Bush is a lot more briliant than a lot of people give him credit for. By going into Iraq and freeing the Iraqi's , he made Iraq a free for all for all the Islamic Extremists.
They're comming out of the wood work to try to gain control.
We 're fighting them in their backyards NOT OURS!!!

Iraq wasn't a threat to us. Simple as that. The no fly zones had Saddam contained and was a lot less expensive to our county in blood and money than this war that seems to have no end in sight. The PNAC neocons only wanted Iraq as a chess piece in their game of transforming the middle east into their own image. And I'm not against everything. I was with Bush when it came to Afghanistan. He lost me with Iraq. He lost a lot of people when it came to Iraq.

The containment we had over Iraq was slowly eroding day by day. After kicking weapons inspectors out repeatedly, firing on our planes in the no-fly zone everyday, and France, Russia and others deciding to do business with them against the sanctions the UN had in place, we had little choice.

To think that Saddam was no threat is gullible and naive. The U.S. and the Brits thought the same thing about Hitler. Just keep him contained. It wasn't until they brought the fight to our doorstep, that we decided to get after them. By them, millions had lost their lives in torture chambers, prisons, and wound up in mass graves. OH! That sounds familiar doesn't it? Only this time, the brutal dicatator was stopped before he could go any further. He already tried Kuwait, and had plans for Saudi Arabia. I guess we should have trusted him to stay put after that....

This guy would and still will to this day destroy America if given teh chance. We weren't about to let him have that chance. So we MAY have been wrong about how close he was to accomplishing this goal, but tell me, how close do we have to let him get before he's too close?

Then you have the assclowns out there that dispute the connection to terrorism. The terrorists are deeply rooted in every country in the middle east. But you're trying to tell me that they are in every country BUT Iraq?? You're trying to tell me that Saddam was an upstanding guy and didn't want to cooperate with terrorists?

The "Neocons" aren't playing chess. They are protecting our future. Iraq will never be in our image - don't you worry about that! They will be a democracy, but it will be with respect to their culture. Iran could have been the same way decades ago if it wasn't for your bleeding heart pacifist Jimmy Carter.

Wake up and do some real investingating. Put down the liberal rags and conspiracy theory newsletters about how Bush is starting a NWO and playing chess with the world.

Put yourself in the shoes of an Iraqi who is now free. An Iraqi woman who can now vote. An Iraqi child who can now go to school.

Is it perfect yet? No. Will it take a while? Yes. These terrorists will lose battle after battle. The world will turn against them. Those of you with such a gloom future prediction might be better off reading some history. We will prevail.

We're on different sides of the Iraq issue and it will always be that way. We just have to agree to disagree as usual.

But then again gentlemen why Didnt the united states put sanctions on France or Russia if in fact they where doing business with iraq, after the UN sanctions. It appears to me we should have told both france and russia that as long as they dont listen to the UN then we dont allow our goods to come to your countrys or there goods to come here.

I still think about Gen Schwarzkopf sending that whole army group racing towards Baghdad in Iraq I. A 4 star General doesn't move that kind of firepower just to burn deisel. Why did they stop?

I'll have to dust off some old conspiracy rags and do some research.
