What is the process of a Marine getting into the Drill Field, Embassy Security Guard, or Sea Duty? What are the respective qualifications for these duties?
Only once did I see a presentation on any of these fields. An MSG Captain came out and told us more about Embassy Duties. All I can remember, some twenty years later, is that you must have a clean record book.
I am sure that there are some old salts here at Leathernceck that know the straight scoop, and young Marines that could benefit! :marine:

yellowwing,
You can get the straight scoop right from the horses mouth by reading MCO P1326.6D dtd 12 Sep 1999. Access it at www.usmc.mil and go to publications.

I'll tell you what it took when I went put in for MSG orders. The first thing a Marine should do is go to the career planner, and get the package required. On this package will be all the things you are required to obtain. Some of the things I remember are you have to have a class one dental, a full bill of health, you must go to S-2 and put in for a security clearence, have a valid U.S. birth certificate or equivilant to, must fill out a financial sheet, personal bio sheet, No NJP or page 11's within the past year, must have been in the "FLEET" for no less then a year, and must have your Company 1st Sgt up through your Battalion CO recommend you for this duty.
That was almost three years ago and I'm sure things have changed since then. Another good thing to look up for those wanting to become Marine Security Guards, is the Memorandum of Agreement between the Department of State and the United States Marine Corps. In it entails all duties required of an MSG, while on duty.
I hope I've helped alittle bit, and if anyone has any further questions on the MSG program please feel free to e-mail me or you can always send me a PM and I will answer your question as soon as possible.
Have a great day Marines, Semper Fi.

I am currently on a Special Assignment Duty feeling sad for my brothers in Iraq...I have a job to do here though...The qualifications required for the Drill field is a recommendation from your Command and meet the standards as far as Physical training and weight. Attend a demanding school for Drill Instructors...It is really not that difficult but you have to be a good Marine and show leadership for a command to recommend. Maturity is also a big key factor.....I could go on and will have to continue later..The recruits are coming back from chow now......sorry
