Subject: The "Swagger Stick"?

Has anyone ever written anything on the origin, history, and use of the swagger stick in both the U.S. and other military organizations? I can find little on this on the Internet.

What I am looking for is one concise writing on the origin, history, and use of the Swagger Stick, including in the USMC.

I do have some information already, including a good piece of writing by Col Blackie Cahill USMC. I have also collected bits and pieces of info around the Internet--it seems that the swagger stick has also been known by several other names, including cane, pace cane, staff, baton, etc. It has been used as a weapon, an instrument for keeping time onthe march, etc.
