Marines,

Does anyone personally know someone who enlisted for two years under the recently enacted National Call to Service Act of 2003?

Have been talking to my recruiter and a very helpful SSgt. on the ************* website, so I know the ins and outs of the program (its obligations, its limitations, etc), but having a personal perspective would be appreciated.

yours respectfully,
Chris

dont know anyone personally, but my recruiter told me the only people hes seen go in for that program are people who wanted to pay off student loans.

Thank you for your replies ftrmarinemp and HardJedi. Like I said, I really know everything about the program -- the biggest setback for me is that because it's new and limited (less than a 100 slots a year, I think), recruits have *no* choice of occupational field whatsoever. There are a number of limited MOS's offered (MCO 1130.53P W, Ch. 1) -- everything from personnel clerk to rifleman. I'd like to get the latter, I'm worried about enlisting and getting a desk job. :( Every Marine is a rifleman, everyone serves and is important, but we can have preferences, right? Just wanted to chat with someone who's actually done it....

respectfully,
Chris
