Back in the 60's when I went through Staging Battalion (training) in preperation for deployment to Vietnam we went through a few days of Escape & Evasion. (remember sheep s**t ?)
I was told back then, that this training was as close to the real thing as you could get. The most realistic part of this training was being captured by the enemy, placed in a POW camp complete with realistic means of tourture, black pajama clad "VC" and communist propaganda being blasted at us from guard towers.
In Vietnam we had the "9 rules". But we were never told anything much about the Vietnamese.
That was then.
What about now ?.
Does present day training in the Marine Corps address the possibility of being captured by a much different enemy ?.
Are our Marines classed on the Muslim faith as it relates to the possibility of being captured ?.
Are there classes on the cultures of the Middle Eastern people ?.
What methods are Marines instructed to use when it comes to escaping or evading in the desert ?.
