Conservatives and Liberals: Apples and Orgies
Doug Giles

If you're a high school or college graduate and you actually remember your Animal House purple haze school daze, then, more than likely, you learned that the Liberals are the good guys and the Conservatives are Hitler's crazy cousins.

The "historical" record of the 20th century has been shaded by Liberal spin doctors more than Richard Simmons' eyelids, in preparation for a night out on South Beach. The Left's dedication to telling the truth makes Baghdad Bob look like John the Baptist. And God help you if you ever challenge them on their misinformation: they stand by their "hysterical" (or did they say, historical?) record to the end.

Disagreeing with Liberal machinations inside or beyond the Beltway, within the Public School system, in Hollywood or The New York Times, with ABC News' Peter Jennings or The Today Show's Katie Couric will bring down upon you the full wrath of their blathering mouths and trendy Mont Blanc pens. Those who actually have the nerve to naysay the Liberals' endless distortions will be called more foul names than a French tourist who cuts off Dennis Leary in heavy traffic on the I-95.

You've got it: the new thought police of the 21st century have made it as difficult as they can for conservatives to express contrary thoughts.

If you believe in God, that God who has standards for people and nations, that God who holds us accountable, that God who blesses righteousness and curses lawlessness--both in time and in eternity--well, then, you'd better brace yourself.

If you believe in the traditional family, that there are multifaceted reasons why God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Todd, then grab a crash helmet.

If you believe in the Ten Commandments, that a society can function and thrive only where there is a principled adherence to these objective truths and that a society will commit national suicide if it blows off these self-evident verities, then you'd better fasten the chinstrap on your crash helmet.

And if you believe that government isn't there to be your wet nurse, that affirmative action entails an alarm clock, that Islamic radicals shouldn't fly business class post 9/11, that Hillary looks and acts like the Bride of Chucky, that the U.S. is one step away from Euro-socialism and that character, faith and virtue are non-negotiable if this nation is to continue to be Valedictorian of the planet: then you, my principled, nation-loving friend, better finish your preparations and put on an athletic cup because the treacherous left will aim its hammer below your belt.

My ClashPoint is this. There is a big difference between liberals and conservatives. We're not talking apples and oranges, folks, but apples and orgies. In her latest book, "Treason", Ann Coulter puts it clearly:

"Conservatives believe man was created in God's image, while liberals believe they are gods. All of the behavioral tics of the liberals proceed from their godless belief that they can murder the unborn because they, the liberals, are themselves gods. They try to forcibly create 'equality' through affirmative action and wealth redistribution because they are gods. They flat-out lie, with no higher power to constrain them, because they are gods. They adore pornography and the mechanization of sex because man is just an animal, and they are gods. They revere the U.N. and not the U.S. because they aren't Americans--they are gods."

It-s hard for salt of the earth, hard working, hard playing pro-American types to wrap their minds around why their liberal neighbors hate the U.S. so much. But liberals do, and it's a staple of their worldview's diet. They reflexively root for that which will undo our great land.

As far as the liberals are concerned, the battle is joined ... the war is on. We must recognize the primal nature of the contest, the fundamental loathing the left has for virtually everything that conservatives cherish.

Concerned citizens of our amazing country need to be aware of the fear and loathing of the liberals and meet them head on at the polls, through the media and in the public square.

Great article. I couldn't agree more with what this writer has to say about the liberal way of thinking.

Just some partisan bs. Liberals are fighting and dying in the desert too along with their red state brothers and sisters.

No Eddie - the only liberal in the desert just deserted. Now, he might die anyways.

Really, you can ask anyone - there was only one liberal sent to Iraq. I told them it was a mistake -

I gotta admit that was pretty funny (except for the dying part of course). But seriously I would say that about 25-30 percent of the military will vote for Kerry.

Voting for Kerry may not mean that they are a liberal---it may mean that there is no real choice in their mind of who to vote for.

25-30%. Thanks, that stat is encouraging!

25% of the UNITED STATES MILITARY LIBERAL? not ure what units YOU served with, but it sure wasn't that way in my time. I never met even ONE. sure as HECk not during the Clinton years.

Not necessarily liberal but not hard right-wing neocons either. As for not ever meeting one, I know when I was in I never discussed politics with my buddies. I was 18 when I joined and 22 when I got out. The only thing I cared about was getting laid after the work day was over. I wouldn't have cared if a monkey was in the White House as long as I was getting my groove on.

Isn't it interesting that we can place all Americans in either of these two camps...Conservatives or Liberals...what do we do with those that don't fit the mold of either of these two?
Than we question who is Doug Giles...
I was going to post;
"Is the movie, 'A Few Good Men' really anti- the Marine Corps"
Because it depicts Marines as being zealots;
1. One who is zealous, especially excessively so.
2. A fanatically committed person.
One who isn't capable of thinking for his or herself.
Only after Col. Nathan Jessep admits that he ordered a 'Code Red" and the two enlisted Marines are found guilty of Conduct unbecoming and given a Dishonorable discharge, does Cpl Dawson gain the knowledge that they should have shown more compassion toward Pfc Willy Santiago.
Than the only Marine, Major or was it Lt.Col Markison that was going to testify against Col Nathan Jessep takes his own life while wearing his Dress Blues.
Which brought me to thinking should any Marine carry out an order from a superior, even if he or she knows that it might result in a crime under the UCMJ?
A zealot might but an intelligent person might question it in his or her mind.
They might carry out that order with reservation.
So really Americans are more complex than just the two that are under discussion.
Are my opinions more worthy than the opinions of Doug Giles?
Both of us might not know what we're talking about but we both entitled to our opinions.
I think I'm more moderate in my thinking and I will seek an answer before making an decision.
As a child born in the 40's and raise in a household that was mostly Democrat in their way of thinking.
Than spending my boyhood in an area that is to this day most Democrat and union thinking.
Having been a union card member of the steel industry, because that was the only way, you could get a job in the steel industry.
Even than I question, why the union and the leadership were spending more time with the 10% who were always in trouble.
Than the 90% who did their job.
Would that make either of the two under discussion?
Enough said, I hope you can see my point of view, that Americans are more complex...
If you would like to see the story of a Few Good Men before it was made a movie...

Try your stat again Eddie - only 25-30% of the military even votes in the first place. And that's on a good year!

My non-scientifc guess would be about 1 in 25. I knew three in a 700 man unit that would vote for Clinton, but because they were latino and their mother told them to. That was their reason to given to me when asked. I honestly didn't have a response to that.

I do not know any liberal Marines, personally. The Marines I know believe in something, and stand up for it.

OK. Well, the units I was in DID discucc politics, because as infantry Marines, the political leaders of our country could affect of very strongly.

this one is for the Lib's.... Conservative views and morals come from a book that has been making its way around the world for over 2000 years. Others have tried to destroy this book to the point of having every copy burned . Needless to say that didnt work! When diligently studied many can see that the USA was formed from men who shared these views . And as a country blessed for these views being a corner stone . Many of these views that you Libs do not share belief in is no surprise to those of us you call radicals. You see over 2000years ago that was also wrote in our book . So when your on the corners in the streets with your protest b.s. telling us how we need to think like the rest of you, save your flippin breath better yet be like your buddy Michael Moore and put a cheese burger in it.Im proud to be a radical as you have the right to say..... By the way if you share belief in the same book you need to believe it all ! Not the scripts that dont offend you.

There are libs (libertarian in my case) that also believe in God. I just don't ram those beliefs down anyone else's throat. I can't stand libs that try to do the same with their beliefs. As for where morals come from they don't just come from the Bible. Have you ever heard of Hamurabbi's code of laws?

DebSantos

Hey eddif , no I havent heard of Hamurabbi's code of laws. and I never said the lib's (libertarian's in your case ) dont believe in God. I was just letting you know where conservative views were founded. research the history you may find politics and biblical views once went hand and hand sorry if that offends you ,but I didnt write the book!
