Just thinking about the folks I worked with. Try to forget sometimes, but it ain't always possible. Marines who put up with my sh!t until I got my head right. Some of those guys had a lot of patience. I was an average PFC, then got an attitude and became a ****bird L/CPL. Got a little top heavy for awhile. I remember being a CPL and being the lowest ranking man in the shop. Walked on water as a CPL 4.7's pro and cons. Shop was the best in the Corps for a couple years. Outstanding with no, or else minor discrepancies for three years. Third year, the I.G. himself walked in! Sgt New. Sgt Beach, who later becam a Warrant Officer and went to the east coast. Cpl Frelix, Cpl Williams, Cpl Walsh, Cpl Lesuer, Sgt Radke, GySgt Wright, The list goes on. Capt Reed, Major Walters, the list sometimes seems endless. Folks who were professionals. I sit here and if I turn around and open the door, I can see for forty-some miles, and the sun is coming up. My lilys are fixing to bloom and my lawn is green. Folks around here don't seem to know people like you and me are even around. But we were. We didn't serve for them so much as we just loved the job. But I'm glad these folks sem to remain so innocent. They won't have to see what we saw or do what we did. Ever. I watch the sun come up and light come in the windows, and for now. I am content. Good coffee. I'm gonna get another cup

A cup of coffee can make everything better in the Corps I think. I know if my morning is going bad or just plain tired. Take a break walk down stairs and get a hot cup of coffee and I can lost in another world for 15 minutes that makes it all better.

Drinking French Roast. Always have liked it. I get up in the morning, get ready for work, and spend a few minutes going through my e-mail, then check another Marine site and drop by here. Saving the best for last. Not that I don't appreciate my e-mail. Some good folks seem to like giving me a chuckle in the AM for some reason. It's interesting to watch how folks are interacting on the "new" site, now. Gettin' settled in, getting to know others around here. Some being a little careful in what they post, and others just being themselves. Kinda of fun to watch. Got some new folks running around, and some "old-timers" running around with new usernames. Thought of changin mine, but this is me. That's what I enjoy on this site, not a lot of pretense. Just good people, being who they are. Refreshing. Amost as good in the morning as a cup of good coffee.

Been up since 0400 West Coast time, started the Coffee <b>Yuban</b> four scoops a bit strong, enought for six cups of coffee.

Fired up the new E-machine computer, the other four computers in this house of six women and myself are asleep like everyone else around here except one daughter who I drive to the metro -link every morning before 5:00am.

As I wait for her to get ready, I've read the morning paper, Riverside Press Newspaper and the Wall Street Journal ( I only look at the pictures(LOL).

Well, need to run, daughter started up the van, I'll grab a cup of coffee on my way out.

Help yourselve to a cup, the pot is on the stove.

Later

Been playing with my e-mail and working on my second cup of java. It's been cool at night, here, but hot and dry during the day. Working in the kitchen at a nursing home, oh, I'm sorry, a 'health care facility'. Got a couple of Vets in there. Both VN Vets. One doesn't talk at all to speak of, the other is intelligent enough, but talks too much! LOL Seems to be a good man, though. He's also a certified chef. Makes for an interesting day, at times. I try to do the best I'm able with the time, tools and products I have to put a good meal on the table. Sometimes that's all we can do. Our best. One of the things I like around here. Folks go out of their way to help each other. E-mails, petitions, trips, phone calls and visits to one another. Makes me proud to know you folks. They aren't just words to you. They mean something more. Semper fidelis. About time for that third cup, and a walk through the door to meet the new day.

For the past few mornings I sit here in work, and enjoy reading your post and Cook's..at work. We are all different but one thing I can say is we have one thing in common we are all Marines.
Ellie and I have been up since 0500 EST...the only time her and I can enjoy some quiet time..Her and I enjoy watching the sun rise, and the best are the ones when we are in Florida on the oceans edge.
My day starts before work, reading my email and making a few posts before I get to work..She will finish up any I don't get to till I arrive at work.
I'm usually on my 3rd cup of coffee, with know idea what my day will bring..You see I'm a Field Sevice Tech...Some days I sit in the office and other days I'm on the road, fixing what ever machine broke down the evening before or that day..
So not knowing what my day will bring, I enjoy my quiet time with Ellie, before all our children wake up for their adventure of their day. Well need to go get another cup of coffee , because my day will start real soon.

Up at 0400, had a couple cups. Left the pot on. Hope ya found what ya needed. The Ol Ladies car wouldn't start. Took her to work, then got ready to do battle with the VA. Sh1t, shower and shave, got some clean underwear and socks, grabbed some paperwork, and away I went. Not much of a fight, they actually played nice, except for the fact that everytning's been re-arranged and their admissions procedure is different. Got past that. Got the examine, some X-rays, and a bottle of pills and a new toy! Gave me a lifetime achievement award- gave me a cane to help me get where I'm going! LOL. Are some of those doctors and nurses looking a little young or is it just me? I appreciate you fellers having coffee with me in the morning, good company's hard to come by. Joe, go get 'em Marine. You can do anything, Mister. If you're like me, you most probably have! NamGrunt, I like that Kona private reserve stuff. It's good coffee. Appreciate you sharing it.

Keep thinking about that Kona reserve coffee. Good stuff. I'll have to get some more one of these days. Always tasters like Hawaii to me, if you know what I mean. Good memories and bad, there. It was good duty. It's been nice in the morning here. Gettin up tp 100-109 the last few days. For now, it's pleasant outside. Lilies are ready to bloom any day, now. Lawn looks wonderful. I can see the street lights on the east side of town from my front door. See the lights on the tower at Ellsworth Air Force base, and some on the hangar and runway lights. Always a reminder. Got fellow Marines out there working their butts of, and others around the world living and dying. Those folks are in the back of my mind pretty constantly. I always hope they're doing ok. Even the sh!tbirds! LOL. Sometimes I forget about them, and get irritated with what's going on around me, but when I think of them, my own problems don't seem like so much. They'll be alright, and I can't do much but ask the Boss to do what He can for 'em. Folks forget about us, and it is surely an aggravation, but that's just how well we've done our job. Kept the barbarians so far from the gates, that the citizens take everything and everyone for granted. Innocent , ignorant children for the most part, and we must do what we can to keep them out of trouble. It's a good day. I'll have another cup of joe, and get headed for work. Coffee's on, fellers. Have a cup.

Just poured my second cup. Like that french roast. NamGrunt, I'll be looking forward to that cup of Kona, bro. Thanks. I've been girding myself for battle with the VA. No big deal, just a couple blown knees. Typical, though. I'm supposed to be using a cane full time, but I got to make a living. Not being an office pogue at this time, using the cane is rather out of the question. LOL. Oh, well. That's life. Always full of little inconsistencies! LOL Sun's not up yet. Folks in Deadwood SD have been evacuated due to a forrest fire. Won't go there this AM, except to hope that all the kids are ok. Grandma's and pa's, too. My lilies will bloom any day, now. I'm real curious. Got them from the new neighbor last summer. They were overcrowded in his little garden. Don't know what kind they are for sure, til they bloom. Another of life's little surprises. Got to water the yard today and the flower garden. I get some satisfaction and peace in doing that kind of thing. Never looked into it too hard. Some folks say one thing, and others say something else. A little bit of gardening does something good for my soul, my inner being, if you will. I just like doing it, sometimes. Kinda like cooking good food. Just something about it that satisfies me and brings me a little joy. Hope you folks find something like that in your own backyard. A little peace and a small touch of inner joy never hurt anyone. Coffee pot's full, boys. I gotta get headed for the truck, and get off to work. Sugar's in that jug by the pot, if ya need some.

Bones, you have a good day bro !!! And I damn sure can relate to your battle with the VA.....as far as I'm concerned their the enemy now and we have to keep up the good fight !!! I deal with em in Hampton Va every Thursday......they head for cover sometimes when I'm on the way in the door !! LMAO !! I been kicked out of two VA hospitals...well actually Physically removed from one and then asked to leave the other !!! Now I'm workin on the third one !!!
I ain't much on yard work but the bride is and she sure is good at it..and it is peaceful as hell to sit outside and look at what she does with her magical green thumb !!!
Thanks for the JAVA bro !!!

Well, you can say I'm lazy on Sundays....
It's after 10:00 here, and on my first cup of coffee, and been up only 1/2 hr....It's the only day I sleep in.... I do think I deserve that....
Well, we are in the 2nd heat wave of summer they say....I don't like the heat and I hate the cold.......
Not doing too much today, wanted to relax, first weekend off in a few...
I enjoy my Sundays, just getting up, having some coffee and reading the paper....and checking my email... and reading the posts.....and yes I do go to Church some Sundays.
I can't ask for much more.....
Well I need another cup of coffee, and the smell of breakfast is in the air........I sure enjoy my Sundays........

Sorry, boys. running a bit late, this morning. One of those days where you hear the alarm, and hit the ground running. On my third cup of coffee. Lilies began to bloom yesterday. Big orange and yellow things. Look like tiger lilies without the "stripes". Stems about four feet tall, three and four clusters of five and six flowers per stalk. Be impressive when they all bloom./ I'll get some pictures in a day or two.Benn for a little drive around the neighborhood already this AM. Surprising how different things can be from one block to the next. You can see how just a few folks, taking care of things or not, can have an impact on the way things look. Both good and bad. My little piece of redneck heaven, looks ok most of the time. Feel kinda sorry for the neighbors. They got that drinking, co-dependent thing going on....consequently, their yard is full of trash, overgrown...and BROWN! LOL. Like I say, I like my weeds to be green! LOL . Got to take the Ol' Ladies car to the shop today. Don't feel like screwing with it, myself. Been in a weird mood lately. Got the VA thing going on, not too happy at work, the usual mid-life stuff. Working on my project today if I get a chance. Aggravatingly slow progress, there. Details, details, all the time details! LOL. I'm gonna read the paper for a bit. Coffee's on the counter, help yourself, and don't mind me. I won't rattle the paper too much! Hope the folks at Deadwood are doing alright. Lost a couple houses. Evacuated fifteen thousand people. Fire got into town for a bit. Firefighters and surry bombers did a helluva job!

Morning folks, New day. Fresh start. New choices and decisions,. Nice to have a little bit of freedom. Think of all those folks who've been there to ensure that we have it. Colonial Militia, Differences of opinion with various Indian tribes, Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Civil War, Spanish,American War. WWI WWII Korea Vietnam, and a host of conflicts throughout the world. You, and I Marine, have by God earned it. Happy Birthday to our great nation and to you who have served, and fought the good fight. Freedom to mow my yard, weed my flower garden, work on the truck, and play silly games with the VA! LMAO
Freedom to have a drink with the Ol Lady, watch a movie, go pretty much anywhere in this nation if ya want. Just something to consider this morning. Second cup of coffee, looking for my third. Lilies are blooming, grasss is green, and all is well with my little world, this AM. Hope thing are well with you. Coffee's on the counter, Have a cup.

<b>Good morning, Wrbones, NamGrunt68

Stepped outside this morning to get the newspaper and neighbor was pulling out to go to work.

The neighbor on my right leaves for work at 4:45, the one across the street leave, she leaaves at 4:15 am and returns by 10:30.

She then runs and jogs around the neighborhood for about an hour. One of these days I'll join her and lose those extra pounds, after all she is a red head...LOL

The air outside is crisp, lean this morning, and the coffe just stopped brewing. I'll go get a cup.

Got the pot in the office brewing. The guys from my crew who stop in for some each morning are already bummed out about my scheduled moved to a new office. I told them I'd show them how to brew the stuff but they all are javaprepaphobic :D Oh well maybe I'll be nice and stop in here in the afternoons and set the pot up for them. Think it'll take two or three cups to get my head in order this morning. Normally, I can't get along with MYSELF in the morning before the second cup of coffee. Things are going to hell in a basket at work. That's life. Folks want to play games and get irritated when ya play back! LOL. Ought to know better by now. I try to offer respect and dignity to others. Yeah, I tease and fuss with folks. Some times to show 'em a different way of seeing things. Sometimes just to get them to lighten up a bit. Mostly just making a point witjout trying to cause too much upset. Life can be upsetting enough with out playing little games over nothing. I'm often amused at some, especially civilians, who ask my opinion, and then give me that funny look when I offer it. Oh, well. Life is good. It constantly keeps me guessing. LOL. I've done a lot of different tnings over the years. I've been a ditchdigger, a construction worker, been an elder in a fairly large church, Worked landscpe and landscape mainteneance, I've been a biker, Managed businesses, owned a business, second worst mistake I ever made was selling it. Didn't know that at the time. LOL Played biker, was heavily involved in martial arts, tried college before I joined the Marine Corps. Washed dishes and cooked some fine meals here and there, Done a bit of baking, managed a few apartments, and some cheap motels, Worked as part of a street ministry, Studied psychology, adn worked in general aviation. Everywhere I've worked, the company has experienced often exponential growth. The least I've helped to improve profits has been a 25% inrease in their gross income.. I've dealt with celebrities, billionaires, and nationally known preachers, and drugaddicts prostitutes ond drunks. Learned a bit about people over the years, or so I like to think. One thing I have learned, (grinning) is that I'm the biggest damn fool that ever came down the road. The key to wisdom? Knowing that you're the biggest damn fool to come down the road! When you finally realize that the more you learn, the more there is to learn, you begin to realize that you really don't know much at all. That's about the time other folks start thinking you might be worth listening too! Now ain't that the sh!ts! LMAO On the other hand, being a big dumb hillbilly, some fellers don't think I know much at all. What I do know, is that even a fool has something to teach me...if nothing else, I find myself asking,"Just how did he survive this long?" That's my spiel on how to get my head back on track. I recite all the good things I've done that I can think of right off hand. LOL Coffee's on folks, Have a cup, relax and read the paper before you get going. It'll be a good day. Hell, ya ain't dead yet!;)

Good Morning wrbones. Thanks for the nice wakeup. Should be a relatively easy day at work. Us supervisors are putting on a hotdog lunch for the guys today, trying to boast moral. Everyone is nervous and worried about possible lay-offs. No one in grounds lost their jobs in the last round, and all should be safe now, but they worry.

Got my maintenance crew chief half way convinced that he can make coffee :D Got the word yesterday that my new office will be ready to occupy the week of 22 July. I have full confidence that he can do it.

Have your barbques, enjoy the fireworks, enjoy your family and friends and your careers. Show a little appreciation for your brothers today, even if they are jugheads. We're all we got. Coffee's on, folks, be sure ya have a cup, and stay awake, ya don't want to miss a thing on a day like this. Take a nap this afternoon so you can stay awake to enjoy the local shows tonight. Hope yer head ain't too big this morning. LOL Hope ya had a good and fun Fourth. We got a few new faces around, make sure ya say hello to these folks. Looks like a good bunch. You people constantly amaze me. All the different backgrounds, and diversities of knowledge. Just like being active duty again for folks like me. Always someone around who knows what the rest of us don't. Got folks running around here I'd follow to hell just 'cause I know they know what they're doing. Trust them to tell me if they didn't and to trust 'em to finish what they started. That's what it's all about for Marines, trusting each other. What everything else boils down to, I think, Honor, Integrity, Fidelity, Leadership...all based on trust. Folks here always going on trips together to places like the Wall, and such.Someone gets hard down, someone else checksd to see whos close enough to go do something about it. Might be either encouragement or warning to the new folks. LOL When Marines on this site say Semper Fidelis, they by God mean it! Always someone here to give ya the skinny on almost anything. I've got the weekend off, working today. Old folks like my cooking, I still do my best at whatever I do.Whether it's mowing the lawn, or cooking for old timers, or cleaning up my desk. (Well, maybe not my desk. ) But I give things my best shot. Like you fellers. Your best is all you got to give. Part of what makes us Marines. Our best, all the time. Don't know why. Got lots of new folks running around the AO. I like what I see. Good people getting transferred in. Glad to see you all. I'm pretty vocal most of the time, but on occasion, you folks get me to trying to swallow that lump in my throat...must be my sinuses draining or some such. Some kid running around here calling me, of all people, old salt, for example. LOL. I see Marines everywhere I turn. Doesn't matter when they served, or what they did. I see Marines. Even in a venue such as this, it's usually pretty easy tp pick them out. In their posts, in the way they say things, even in the way they ask questions. But to me, what I see, also, is their concern for their brothers and sisters. My Marine Corps. And I'm proud of you. I get off on a couple of the Poolees, Dep'ers and wannabes around here, too. I can see what they might become once they hit those legendary footprints. They're in for a helluva ride, but they'll have a blast, for the most part. They''ll lose a few buddies here and there, they'll save a few others now and then. Most of what they do will go unrecognised. But they'll do it all with pride, honor and committment. They'll do their best, as some of us are still doing and as some of us once did. I think we're in pretty good hands over all. I think we'll be in pretty good hands for some time to come, as far as the troops go. Gotta be careful about some of those officers, though.;) I did know a few pretty good ones here and there. The new guys will learn, as we did. The good news is, we can have a helluva positive influence in places like this. So, for all you Old Salts, be motivated. We get to help bring up the next generation or two of Marines. Hey, so I slept in! Give me a break. I'm an Old Salt, remember! ;) Coffee's on the counter, milk's in the fridge if ya drink it that way, sugar by the pot. Don't say I never offered. Time to go meet the day.

Really appreciate you folks helping me through it. Makes it easier to get up in the morning. ( Hey, I slept in, alright, got my eight!) Keep bragging on you folks, but you keep doing sh!t to brag on!LOL Just like shaffer. Man did a helluva job getting this site back up. Dang near single handed, too. Got BigCat, gylancaster, and Sixguns and folks looking out for the poolees and DEPers. Got folks like Linda. LL CAS and Drifter and Sparrowhawk and others looking out for Marines who might need a hand. Everyone elsse be checking on each other and offering advice and help on a daly basis. I'm proud to know you people. You're not only some of the best Marines I've ever known, you're some of the best men and women I've ever met. Coffee's on. Ol Lady scattered the paper. so you'll have to search for what you want to read. I'm after the headlines, the comics and the want ads. Sports section and business is up for grabs. Kick back day for me. Relax and have another cup of joe. Got plenty in there.

Now where did you hide the Sports section, be damned if i can find it.

Yes!!!!!Jerry did a great job of getting this Site back up. He has made a home for us Marines. There are a lot of Good Marines here(LIKE YOURSELF) willing to help out their Brothers and Sisters. That is what this site is all about "MARINES HELPING MARINES"

Take another cup of coffee, still trying to find that sport's section.

Yeah bones , you are correct - everywhere I turn these day, Marines to my left, Marines to my right. I'm still waitin for the day when some poor SOB wanders into the local watering hole and starts spouting off B.S. when Marines line the bar rail.....
I'm done with coffee, time for a cold beer. It's past noon. Got my mandolin restrung and tuned up, time to do the ol guitar. My brain is stuck on this Doc Watson tune called 'Nashville Pickin'. Better suck this beer down and get to changin these strings.

Slept in again this AM. Gotta go job hunting...again... Kids, don't try this at home! Gonna whine a bit and get it off my chest. Made a few mistakes, years ago. Still paying for 'em. This is mostly for some of the younger folks, hoping you'll learn from some of my mistakes. Maybe some of you fellers who are a bit more succesful might hear something to make you think, too. Missed out on Naval Academy in boot. Too young and stupid, I guess. Wisdom is often hard earned. Offered to me in boot camp on two ocassions. Turned it down, 11 years is a long time to commit when you're eighteen. Plus didn't like the idea of four more years of boot. How I saw military colleges, then. Turned down various officer programs during my time on active duty. I had work to do. Couldn't afford the uniforms anyway. That was my thinking then. Then I got out, well, that's a long story, I won't tell it here. Took me several years to get over it. Still working in it as a matter of fact. (insert wry smile here) Went to see about getting some use out of my GI Bill. Fellers wouldn't let me go for the degree I wanted, got tired of arguing with them. I was trying to survive. My benefits ran out. Time thing. Been working ever since. Construction for a time, did landscaping and such, til my knees wouldn't take it anymore. Managed apartments and cheap motels. Don't want to go there. Ya get enough to keep ya off food stamps, is about all, and gotta work dang near 24/7. Most places ya work are like that. Had my own business for awhile. Know what that's like. Second worst mistake I ever made was selling out my share of it. That's another long story.! LOL be careful in partnerships. Avoid them if ya can. Anyway, most places I worked either couldn't or weren't able to pay a decent wage. No matter how good a job ya do. Several businesses I've seen, the owner didn't own the business...the bank did. Then add in the toys, the big home, and all the dues for various organisations, and taxes and such, man can't afford to pay his help a living wage. You get tired of it, ya go down the road. Make more or less the same wage somewhere else. Business owner can find someone else desperate for a job at the same or lower wage. Never ending cycle. Did ya know that at $8.00 an hour, 160 hours a month, a man and his wife can't get food stamps. at $8.00 hr and 159 hours a month they can. Doesn't matter how much experience ya got, ya always start at the lowest wage the owner thinks he can get away with. That's capitalism. Ya gotta make yer own deals. Understand that. What's the lesson here? Well, could be a few of them. Pay your help enough to live on. Get a college education. Period. Might not get rich with it, but it's gotta be better than not having one. Don't be a damned young fool like I was. Hard work doesn't mean yer gonna be sucessful in life, but I hear that it helps. Find one thing you're good at, and do it. I always get bored after a few years and want to do something else, anyway. If ya run a small business, stay away from banks if ya can, and get 'em paid off as soon as ya can, so you can have more stuff for yourself, and still be able to pay your help a decent wage. Reward good work at all times, and just as soon as possible. Always put yourself in the other guys shoes for a few minutes when ya dealing with him. Make the best deal ya can, but don't take advantage, fair wage for fair work. There's a few other things to consider, also. Don't be too selfish when you look at the other guy. Life isn't always about what you want. Life is about people, and doing what ya can for them if they'll let ya. That's what business is about, fulfilling needs. The best asset any company has is it's people. Then you will most certainly enjoy a good reputation with good customer satisfaction. If your employees aren't happy, your customers won't be either. Read the books on business and customer relations, it always comes down to that. Customer satisfaction always comes down to employee satisfaction. Dang. How'd I get on that soapbox? LOL Coffee's on folks. Have a cup. must be good and strong to get me going like that. Enjoy yer day.

Bones, I know what ya mean.

Yep, been there, done that. Back's shot, so are the knees. I still work in construction, but now I pick and choose what I want (and can) do. Working for other ppl while they wear their Docker's and drive BMW's for $8-9.00 to run a crew of 6 carpenters is a dammed hard way to go. I pay for it 24/7/365. The nice thing about working for yourself, IF you can stay away from the banks (/me knocks on wood) is scheduling your vacations LOL!!!
I aint broke yet either fiscally or mentally. Physically, well.......

Momma always told me, "when it gets tough Son, pull yerself up by them bootstraps and get moving". So, what happens when it hurts to bend over and grab the bootstraps LOL.

I'm just a damned old fool sometimes. LOL. Not working, so I been staying up late in the chat room. Means I get up late! I just enjoy visiting with all you folks so much, it's hard to go, sometimes. Of course, like last night, I often shoulda gone to the rack quite a bit earlier than I did. When I get tired, I can't track on everything that's going on in there. Spent some time with devilpup2b and DevilDog2B and kept getting them mixed up! LMAO. Yeah, yeah yeah, I KNOW they got all the bumps in the wrong places to get 'em mixed up! LOL I was tired alright! Couple good kids overall. Probably have their heads on straighter than I did at their ages. I't's good to have the chance to be a positive force in the lives of kids like that, though DD2B is a young man, not really a kid anymore. After awhle, they all seem like kids, though, don't they. Especially when your own kids are their age or older. LOL. Some things I forget about, when I was their age. Like having dreams of the things to come. World still had unknown possibilities at that age. I think it still does for folks like me, just got the blinders off, is all. A man's gotta have a dream, or what's the point. A man's got to do what little he can for the next feller, or what's the point. I like to think I can be of some support to folks working toward realizing their dreams. My dream was to be a Marine, have a wife, two kids and a dog with a white picket fence in the front yard. Didn't turn out quite the way I thought it would, but I gave it my best shot. I hope to give the new kids a little advice and encouragement towards reaching their goals and achieveing their dreams. If they need the ocassional kick in the seat of the pants now and then, I'll try to do what I can to make sure they know why! LOL. We get the ocassional wannabe in here. Makes us all a little wary, but I noticed they don't stick long. We just need to be sure we can differentiate between the wannabes and the ignorant and the truly innocent. It's pretty easy most of the time. My point is? Didn't know I had one....just rambling! :) For you new folks dropping by, there's a bunch of good folks on this site, but don't take 'em for fools. Never tke a Marine for granted. He's been around. Ain't a game played he hasn't played or seen first hand. Folks around here are straight up and down. They expect something truly unblieveable in return. Only that you be straight up with them. Works a helluva lot better in any case. on this site, and in most cases, in life in general. Gotta get that second cup. Feel like I was out partying all night! LOL You folks have a good one. Catch ya later.

Did ya miss me? LOL. Had a very good friend stop by this morning...I'd just put my britches on. That's better than usual, he often wakes me up a 3 or 4 in the morning! Can't tell what a good man and a good friend this feller is. Webster didn't invent words to descibe folks like Richard "Dick" Kester. Man was a born hell raiser. Funny, though, he's a man of honor, too. Rough as a cobb, tough as an old boot. Heart of purified gold. Won't go into his background much, just a couple things that point out what I'm talking about. Grew up on ranches and timber. Feller was doing that horse whispering bit years before the movie was even heard of...still has folks looking to train their critters for them. When Dick wasn't doing that, he was working in the timber. Man saw to his father "Dutch" Kester the last twelve years of Dutch's life. Pretty much single handly kept Dutch out of the nursing home for near ten years. Dutch only spent about a month in the home at the last. Dick still wakes up at two AM and again at four to give his Dad Meds. Dutch has been dead for four years now. He was over ninety. Doctors expected Dutch to be dead years before he was. Other side of Dick is, he'll always tell ya the truth. If ya don't like it, he'll tell ya all about that, too. Folks who know Dick are still rather cautious of his temper, too. Seems Dick was a bit of a brawler in his younger days. Still has the temper. If Dick thinks yer good folks, he'll do anything it takes to help ya when yer down, too. Anything. The last fifteen years, Dick's been being Dick while suffering from a massive stroke in his forties and living on $500.00 a month SSDi. These are the folks we served for. They're out there, they're as rare as prescious metals, but they're out there. Sorry about the coffee this morning, but ya know where the pot is, shoulda fixed some. I had more important things to do.

Rotor-heads can do it in the dark, too, ya know;) LOL Cooled off a bit last night around here. Grass is looking good, I raised the mower yesterday. Little trick, there. Some grass needs a little left on top to look good and be healthy inna heat. Lilies STILL blooming. Got myself a new job and another interview this PM! Got the VA thing going on...think I'll try to play with my rule book this time. Early in the game, but it seems to be working so far! LMAO. Man's gotta be a little deluded somewhere, or he ain't being real with himself or others...Figger that one out! LOL. Hear we'll have Brothers and Sisters headed back to that "Big Sandbox". Hope you active duty folks are ready...pretty sure ya are. We always surprised ourselves too! LOL. First thought is "Oh, ****! How we gonna pull this one off?" You always do, though. Somehow, someway... that's because we're good. We learn to do anything, anytime, anywhere. Anything you folks need that we can help with here, let us know. We'll figure something out. Time fer a third cup of coffee, and I'm outta smokes. Heading down to the store in a minute. Ya need anything while I'm there?;) Coffee's on, fellers. Sorry I'm late fellers. Did ya find the coffee? Of course, where I'm at it's still early if you're an office worker. LOL. Getting lined up for a new job, I'll be working evenings at a local steak house. That way my mornings can go to the VA. LOL Woke up with a helluva headache this AM. Took some asprin and my vitamins and then a cup of coffee. I can dang near think again. ( Can't give ya a better straight line, folks! LOL) Got a e-mail from a fellow Marine today. He's concerned about an article inna newspaper about terrorists and redeisgned virus'. Hell, I've known about that for twenty years or better. Basically, virus' have an exoskeleton. Very effective on the "darwin scale". Conditions ain't right, they just close up and "go to sleep" and can be in "hibernation" for years, decades or centuries. Redesigning these little beggars only takes a bit of college level biology, some brains and some basic lab equipment. Clean 'em out, put whatever ya want in, and there ya go, a microscopic zombie! Trained to do whatever ya want, good or bad. I was convinced many years ago that whatever the mind of man could concieve of, he could accomplish. I spent a number of years studying various aspects of good and evil, including psychology, sociology, large and small group dynamics, and investigated most of the larger religions out there. I also spent some time looking at history and the rise and fall of different civilizations. One thing I have become convinced of. Without a solid moral foundation, no society will long last. This is among the reasons I try to treat my fellows with a certain amount of dignity and respect. This is why I demand that others be treated in a fashion that will not ultimately destroy them, or those around them. This is why, among other reasons when someone comes along and trashes my fellow Marine, I become as a Paladin ( a Paladin is a type of religious warrior), and go after them in the manner that I do. This is why I give the other fellow the benefit of the doubt as long as I am able. This is why I hang around on this site. Folks treat each other with a certain amount of respect and dignity. We offer each other the benefit of the doubt. We have concern for our Brothers and Sisters. Without such things in any society, all you have is some redesigned thing walking around in a dead husk. Oh. I well realize, that folks aren't perfect, but in my mind, I have my hopes for something better among the family of man...having come to the realization years ago, that whatever the mind of man can concieve, he can therefore accomplish. Enjoy your day folks. See what you can figure out to make us all perfect;) LMAO Have a good one, and don't ever let the bastards get ya down.

They oughta do better next year. I see alot of new names around the site. It's good to see them being active on the forums. I appreciate different points of view, and enjoy seeing the way folks express themselves. Especially their sense of humor. Seeing some names around that we haven't seen for awhile, too. Welcome back! Always a good word for ya when you're having a bit of trouble with something, or just want to sit back and enjoy watching other folks. Yeah, I was waiting for Bones too, but he must be UA. WE (the family and I) made it back from the Festival in one piece. I woke up Sat morning to Bluegrass playin well before the birds were singin. By the time I drug my tired butt outta the shelter half and made lifer juice, they stopped. Only to find out they started again, by the time I grabbed the mandolin and got over there, they were all passed out (drunk) LOL.
Saturday nite was a differnt story. I meandered my way over to the "Happy Camper's" tent.... took the ol' SgtMaj (my pet name for the mandolin) - and tuned up. This guy comes outta the side, oh, another mandolin picker. let's go man... - so off we went.
Here's the kicker - this younger fella - mayber 35-ish happens by with his fiddle - he steps over to me and sez whata ya know brother - I said well, ya know any Bill Monroe tunes? Sure, so he drops the fiddle and picks up his mandolin and we start banging out 'Get Up John' and a couple others, suddenly out of nowhere he sez (right after I put in one of these really cool Bill Monroe licks) ..."what was that?" So, I showed him the lick ..... he says, 'carry on' - of course I reply 'aye, aye, Sir'. He stops again. "Marine?" You betcha I say. I find out he's 6 months out of the Corps, from MCRD Parris Island. Blew out his shoulder, had to retire at 16 years - Gunny.
The Gunny could fiddle.......... funny how things happen aint it?

How was your weekend?

I see you fellers got coffee on. Didn't have time last night. Got me doing the night duty again. I was off last night, but didn't get a chance to put the coffee on. Couple folks needed to talk, so talk we did. Dang. I'm making coffee next time. Tastes like stuff from the SNCO coffee mess. Gonna be hot today. getting lazy....need to put in a sprinkler system. Big Dog, I kinda like bluegrass once in awhile. But I've noticed that some folks around here are like me in that, I've got pretty eclectic and varied tastes. Hell, I even like one song that Kiss did! LOL. You folks brag me up, and I want to let ya know that I appreciate it. I keep saying it's just me being me. The way ya see me around here is pretty much the way I am. of course, ya don't get to see me picking my nose or scratching my butt, so you might be misled into thinking I'm housebroke. LOL. Talking about such like. I'm might be seeing this wrong, but some folks running around here seem to time their visits when we're sitting around shooting the breeze, or having some fun and games on the forums around here. They seem to miss the important stuff, gettin help to one another, or chewing over someone's problems in the chat, or getting the logistics set up for a trip somewhere, or arranging visits to each others AO. Just wanted to reassure those folks is all. Stick around, we're just having a little fun in between doing such things, is all. We have our little problems, but we're family, we get it sorted out. O Lady was up early, she's taking an early nap. You fellers keep it down fer a bit, coffee's getting changed out. How long's that stuff been sitting there, Roger? Keeerist, that's awful....

I'm in a bit of a somber mood this morning. Old friend of mine used to say "You appear to be pensive, today." Meant I was being quiet and thinking stuff over is all. Had to look it up, myself. Feller kept me in the dictionary half the time I knew him! LOL. I do like that morning air, though. It just feels good, ya know. Got a good taste to it. Always does. It's a new day, got potential. Things that haven't been done yet, new things, or maybe doing the old things a little better next time. Don't have to worry, it ain't happened yet, if it's bad. Bad things most certainly do come along. Another test, if you will, of what's inside you. But it's early. It ain't happened yet, so you don't think about it. Just sit and have yer coffee. For some it's another night of discomfort, and sleeplessness. Well, that's another night over. It's a new day. There's always hope in a new day. Just try to relax a bit, take a deep breath, and try to consider the day for what it is. To be molded, or to mold you, mebbe. A chance to grow a bit, learn something you didn't know. It's early. Listen to the birds lettin each other know whose airspace is whose. Watching the sun come up. Always amazes me. I never figured on living this long, myself. LOL. That's just because of having been a damn fool and life in general! LOL. We all get caught up in the pettishness of living, forgettin the important things. One of them being, a good cup of coffee in the morning. And the sweetness of a new day. Paper ain't here, yet, I'll give ya holler when it is. You know where the coffee's at. Have at 'er. Seems like you folks are on top of it. Don't embarass me, now! I been braggin on ya. Tickled the **** outta me to see Nam Grunt callin' us on it, too! Put up or shut up, boys and girls. I figger it's only the beginning. We have a chance to set the standard. Let's do it. Marines helping Marines, doing the best we can...and we know no one does anything better. Otherwise, we just need to keep our big yaps shut. It'll still be a good site, but it won't be special. I figure you folks are special. Ya gotta be to start with, Yer Marines. Some of you don't know it, but I think we got folks all over the web watching our two minor troubles just now, seeing if we're just talkers or if we'll do what we say. Make me proud, Marines. Make yerselves proud. Let's get it done. Grass is green, lilies are still bloomin. Might get some "sweet summer rain" today. "Well, I'm with you fellers" No matter what happens. Coffee's on, paper's by the easy chair, wake up and carry on with the orders of the day. Marines helping Marines. Semper Fidelis.

'Morning, folks. Come on in and set. Been a little thoughful the last few days. The human condition and all that. Saw a juxtaposition today walking the halls of one of the local VA facilities. The hall was empty when I started down it, then a little old vet stepped out of a door ahead of me who must have been on the other side of ninety , and just as I came upon him two young men in Army uniform stepped into the hall coming our way. It worked that we all passed four abreast in the hallway, looking intently at each other, in complete silence. As I passed the older Vet, I said with some respect, by your leave sir, he glanced up and smiled. A middled aged Vet with a cane, an old Vet with a cane, and two young pups looking with some trepidation and yet with commitment in their eyes at what could be their future. They weren't Marines...but it gave me some hope for the future of our nation, and the old man saw and understood without saying a word. There was pride in his eyes. A fierce kind of pride. and a knowing smile. Coffee's on folks. Get some.

Proud to know you.

Alway give old geezers the respect they deserve. When I gets old, I'm gona get me a cane, so that I cans lift up girls skirts when they walk by.

Need some hard hot black coffee this morning. already did a lap in the pool, watered the lawn and I'm getting ready to take daughter to the train station.

Pour in a few drops of this stuff, always gave the coffee a nice seasonal taste to it in Nam.

Cook you are always running around doing work.......
You need to relax a little......Sit for a spell and enjoy your coffee....

Cook and Bones.....
You have said the Key word Respect......
I respect all young and old till they show me another side of them.....
Then I will step back and look at them a different way...
They will have to make the next move....
Then I will decide.......

Well I need to get more coffee......
Now where did I put the bottle of JD...I think I need a touch of it this morning.....

All have a good day.....

It is a little late in the day for "morning" coffee; however, if it hasn't turned to mud in the bottom of the pot, you can pour me a cup. I always appreciate the offer.

Had the chance of working (volunteer) with a retired lstSgt today. It made the day fun. We both treated all that came in with respect no matter branch of service, rank, or status. In our local Military Retired Services Office we get to associate with some very fine people and sincerely try to help in the best way we can.

Thank all of you for your posts and comments. I don't get to spend too much time on line, but appreciate reading all.

Coffee's on fellers. Come on in and get some. Got a chance to visit with two of my brothers and my two sisters today. Been twenty-six years since we were all in the same place at the same time. There's seven of us. For the most part we all get along ok. One of my other brother's a bit of a jerk sometimes, but he figgers I am, so I guess we're even! LOL He's the other Marine in the family. What happens, we were both NCO's. End up trying to order each other around fer crying out loud! LMAO. Go figure! LOL.He's good hearted, though to those he considers friends or family, you need anything, he'll give ya the shirt off his back. Seen him do it. Literally. Still see the Marine in him. You're in his "house", don't screw with him or with his people. He'll tear ya a new *******. "Little Jim" the family call him. Full of ****, teller of tall tales, protector of the innocent, rough as a new board. Did Motor T in the late 70's East Coast, Cherry Point, I think. Okinawa where he was stationed with a Recon outfit, understand that whatever they did in the way of training, he had to do, then to El Toro, then out when his time was up. Think that's the way it worked. He's my brother, we don't get along well, but if he really needed something and I had it, it'd be his. We've always been that way. Kinda like Marines to begin with. Kinda like the folks around here. Don't always get along, but we take care of each other, 'cause we know we'll always be there for each other. We're family. Paper ain't here yet, coffee's on. grab a cup. Let's go sit on the deck and scare the paperboy when he get's here.;) get to listen to the birds, watch the sun come up and mebbe tell some tall tales. Well, grab yer cup and come on! LOL

Goodmorning,

Well they told us our cool front came through we are only going to be 90., really can't tell it's still hot out there....
Done my normal duties, and did get to a few emails, before I left for work...Well the rest will have to wait...
I don't get much time to volunteer my services, my time is spent on here...Well that is volunteering my services...
My job does take me to nursing homes that I do see veterans..
You see I'm a field service engineer another name is electrical/electronic tech...so when one of their systems break down I go and fix them...
When I'm there I have a lot of the folks come up and talk to me while I working..I believe my hat draws some of the folks toward me...Why you ask?..Well I always where my USMC one...
That is how I find out some of the folks are veterans...They tell me about themselves and talk about myself...I really let them talk, because you wouldn't believe the gleam in their eyes when they are talking about their time in the service...Not all are Marines, but who cares we are all brothers and sisters...
So maybe I can say I do volunteer, even though I had no intensions to be going there at the time..
Well need more coffee..........New pot is on............
All have a good day...........

The coffee is always good when you are with family, friends, and friendly new acquaintances, (particularly fellow service people).

Bones, am happy you got to see some of your brothers and sisters. That is a long time between visits. You will have to do it more often.

I would say you do a lot of voulnteering Drifter. You are doing a good job. Keep it up! We "readers" appreciate what you and the others are doing to keep NOMAD'S dream alive. Thanks again.

Think I will have another cup.

Coffee's on, fellers. Have a cup. Got a bit of rain last night. Cooled things off. Might not have to water the yard today. Got a few chores to take care of. Let my desk pile up again, and I'm just about caught up enough to get back to my project. Ya got to have a hobby! LOL
Gardening, hunting, painting, collecting stuff. Have something to do that interests ya. Something ya like. Sex isn't on that list, that's recreation and such! LOL. Paper ain't here yet. Drink yer coffee and relax. Like to read myself more than most anything, 'cept getting on the computer and seeing what I can see; visiting with you folks, doing a little research. Maybe finding stuff some one else is having trouble getting to. Others do it for me, try to return the favor. At least give 'em a direction to look. Some folks like to knit or do needle point. Done some needle point. Harder than it looks. Stuff that's satisfying, ya know? Helpin others out. Holding folks when they're hurting, and such. Stuff that has some redeeming value. Something that's constructive. Hard to describe really. You look close enuff, you'll see most Marines doing something like that. Even after they get out. Most Marine's enter professions where they do something like that. Many, believe it or not garden. Others are involved in their localities as volunteers for one thing or another. Something constructive. Best I can figure is that many were like that before they joined our Blessed Corps. Others started later in order to do something meaningful. Our service was meaningful. We did it for reasons of our own, then, but it had meaning, none the less. Find something meaning ful to do. It's not the same, but there might be some peace in it for ya. Like keeping that blasted dog outta my yard 'fore he ****s everywhere and ruins my grass! Paper'll be here in a bit. Have another cup of coffee. The day's just starting. Another chance to get it right, if ya know what I mean. I'm gonna sit on the deck, and enjoy the smell of the air after that rain. Relax a bit before I get started. Join me if ya want. Well, come on. sun'll be up in a minute. What ya waitin for?

Got up early posted today's dairy notes then went back to sleep. Something I never do. Slept for almost three hours, I can't believe it. Musta been tired.

Just stepped out of the shower and poured myself a cup of coffee. let's see if I can stay out of trouble today.

Ahh, now I member have to put up a couple sheets of drydry in the wall I installed in my garage and then unplug the drain in the downstairs shower. The screws are stripped and that's going to be a hessle. Maybe I'll just call a plummer.

My neighbors are up, I can hear them talking next door and see them on the monitor I have installed that shows all the activity down our street. I can film it from my desk in my office by remote.

Not too long ago I saw Jack one of my neighbors up high on a ladder.

The wind was blowing and the ladder started to sway. I could see this from inside my office and knew I wouldn't be able to run out there fast enought, cross the street and stop him from falling.

So, I clicked on the recorded to film it. Figured I would at least be able to sell it to, "America's Funnyiest videos," But he didn't fall.

Humm, good cup of coffee.

We have had a right nice day here in the Valley. A little warm in the sun, but a nice breeze. I am passing on the coffee but have fixed some ice tea so come and join me, (might even have a few beers in the frig in garage - a Marine with beer???? LOL).

We (my little woman) always start our day with a two mile walk, then my coffee and some breakfast. Mowed the lawn this morning and took four garbage cans of trimings to Lane Fuel for recycling (one was pretty rotten smelling with all that fermenting in the heat. Almost time for gas mask drill.). I use garbage cans because I have a Dodge Dokota Sport with insulated canopy with a rug liner. Easier and cleaner to use containers than going to the trouble of taking the liner out. There you country boys go laughing - I do know what the purpose of a pick up is but don't have much use in hauling junk around. Guess I have turned into a city boy. LOL It being bright red, the "Semper Fi" and "Marine" decals most certainly stand out. HeHeHe

You all carry on. If you get time drop by for a glass, can, or cup, your choice.

Sorry I'm late. I see you fellers got yer own. Coffe's on anyway. Had a couple of small tornados blow through last night. Knocked out the lights. It being Sunday, I slept in after the little bit of excitment. One touched down just a couple blocks from here. Knocked a few trees down, busted up some signs. Far as I know no one's hurt. Knocked over half a double wide out in the valley, it hadn't been put on it's foundation yet. Relatively minor damage. Don't tell the tourists that, though, it was just high winds! All I had to worry about was being in the middle of a conversation and being cut off in the chat room. Sorry folks. When I get rich, I'll do the satellite thing! LOL. All I have to do to get over the tornado is to mulch the leaves in the yard. Gotta re-supply my gear locker. Used a few candles. Romantic in a way, but muggy. Got a little warm in red-neck paradise last night! LOL.Well, it's a new day, a new week. Another chance to get it right. Another chance to learn something new...or see if you learned that lesson right the last time! LOL. Whatever it was! Paper's by the easy chair. I get the front page and the comics. Coffee's on. You know where it is.Help yourself. Relax. Make yerself to home.

'Morning folks. Paper ain't here yet. Cooled off after the storms night before last still about 64or 65 degrees. Got the leaves and such cleaned up and mulched. Couple of neighborhoods did bear some resemblance to a war zone, but wasn't anyone hurt that I know of. Coffee's on, grab a cup, they're above the sink in the cabinet there. Lilies did ok. Just lost the dead blooms is all. figured they'd all be laid flat. They're kinda pretty and don't take any work to speak of. Kinda nice. I like prety, but lazy works, too! LOL. Grass is green. Lawn is the best in the neighborhood, no lie! Seen some folks around the AO need a little spiritual looking after, but it ain't my place, and most be doing OK with it, Marine Corps had the essence of some of that in any case. Gave us some direction, and something to believe in. Gave us the idea of looking after each other. Part of our leadership training, I guess. Always take care of yer men. No matter what.Sometimes I miss the folks on active duty, but I don't know if I'd do it again, much as I sometimes miss it. I always wanted to be a marine from the age of seven or eight, I think. We all had good folks die on us or get crippled up one way or another.. Name gets to mean something more then. We need the rain too - Think we've had all of an inch in the past 40 days or so, and I'm tryin to get grass to grow where I leveled off the yard with the skidloader a month or so ago LOL. Weatherman, although I usually don't pay alot of attention to them, says storms through tonite, sure do hope it happens.

Well stated Bones!

That storm blew just north of us and hit the "UP" Mackinaw and on through! I watched late last night as the rounds were hittin 5 or 6 clicks north of the wire! Still love watching the show. Never was much for being on the receiving end however! But that in away even got the blood stirring..you know what i mean bro!

As our parents tried to relate to us we trying to relate to these new generations brought up in a country of ME ME ME and I I I. Fortunately the Marines are trying to hold back the flood of very liberal minded(sorry i shouldn't use "mind" in the same sentence with Liberal)young men and women!

Well the clouds are headed your way but they dont look menecing...but then neither did the kid with a bottle of coke!

Ain't hit the bed yet. Folks wanted to visit. I like visiting with folks, sometimes. Makes a feller feel useful and needed. Works fer me. Coffee's up, paper ain't here yet. Cool Morning. Any cooler, it'd be time to turn on the heater! New wannabe got a eye opener last night I think. Changed his username, too. Gave me a little hope for him. Think he might do alright. Dawned on him at last, the quality and experience of the Marines we have around here. Well, as much as a FNG can realize I guess. Hell, we were all FNG's and wannabes once, weren't we! LMAO. Never have forgotten that feeling. Didn't know **** and wasn't gonna let on I didn't know ****. Didn't know then how transparent I was. Tried to cover that up and hide it. Anymore, I try to be as transparent as possible. Not doing a real good job at it sometimes, but I try. This is me, nose picking, scratcing my butt and all. One of these days, if the new guys last long enough, they'll realize there ain't no hiding when it counts, and with a few years and some crap under their belts, they won't have much to hide, either. About that time, they'll make some pretty good Marines, if we're all lucky. Maybe by that ime, I'll be a small bit like MrCobb, laying up awake, worrying over the new guys and hoping things ain't as bad as I think they are. I like that MrCobb. Sets a standard that'll be tough to meet. Real transparency. A Marine's Marine. That'd be an honor. Coffee's on fellers, get some. Dang paper still ain't here yet. Deck looks comfortable. Grab a set and let's watch the sun come up. Tell me some tall tales, til I get used to the idea that I still try to cover **** up. LMAO. New day fellers. Got another chance to figure it all out and get it right! Hell, It's gonna be a good one today, I can feel it in my bones. Things are gonna be good. Birds are singing, grass is green, and the blasted lilies are still bloomin! Y'all have a good one. Easy chair's pretty comfortable if ya wanta watch the news too. Some of us din't have time to become to G.A.F'd out, some of us cared too much. And again, yer right - there aint no hiding a shi%bird in the Marine Corps. They will get sniffed out. Period.
I read something a while back that said ' commanding troops is the greatest privledge an American can have'. Why does it always have to be about Officers? The average LCPL does more than an E-6 in the Army or Air Force ever does in the Leadership department. So, what's so special about Bars and oak leafs and so on?
If it wasn't for us guys, who proudly wore the stripes and crossed rifles, and damm ya to hell if you call me Sir, what would the Officers have to do?

Semper Fi, thanx for the lifer juice.

Barndog

p.s. SparrowHawk - theres a rite fine Marine Corps ball that goes on in Watersmeet, MI - that I go to every year....... pls contact me in yer interested... SF

Thanks for the invite Barndog, but like NamNuts said, thats a ways from this side of the world.

wrbones' quote;
It's gonna be a good one today, I can feel it in my bones.

LOL

Will somebody shoot that rooster!

Just got back from dropping off my daugter at the train station. She took a late train today, so we had a chance to have breakfast before she left at Norm's Restaurant. haven't eaten in one of those restaurants in long time. Used to eat in them all the time when I worked the graveyard shift on the Police force in LA.

I swear those bacon stripes were cooked that many years ago, and the coffee was weak, couldn't wait to come home and just made a fresh pot.

I use the Melita coffee maker, not the weak electric kind, but where you first boil the water in a pan then pour it into the pot.. muuuuummmm good, grab a cup! It's fresh.

Yeah, Bones you're right;

It's gonna be a good one today

Holy ****! I hit that rooster thing with the volume all the way up! LOL. grew up inna country. First thought was "Damn, I gotta go get the eggs fer breakfast!" ain't had my first cup yet. Coffee's brewing, fellers, grab some. You know where the coffee's at. Was a real active day for me, yesterday. Feel like I got a lot done. Desk is an eternal mess, though. I 'bout give up on it. I guess that's just a constant police action, huh? Talked to some good folks here, got a couple headed in the right direction. Saw some good work by other Marines around the site. You fellers always make me proud to be one. Humble me, too. Rough as damn cobbs, but friggin hearts of gold ya got! God be looking for ya when it's time to be transferred out. I can dang near guarantee it. Lilies are about done fer the year. Gonna have to find something to bloom through August and September to make up for it next year, I think. Cooled off a bit last night, too. Down to 65 at one point. FNG's never stick around the chat long enough to see what's really going on, either. Ah, well, they'll find what they're looking for somewhere, I guess. They need to learn how to sit and appreciate a good cup o joe is all. World'll still be there to conquer tomorrow. Just do what ya can today, and cover yer bro's asses the best ya can. Helluva challenging mission right there sometimes! LOL. I know I keep drifter busy! LMAO. 'couse, Joe and a couple others be covering my ****, too....well, hell, I just do the best I can, and hope I'm pulling my weight. Think I do ok, long as I keep my feet outta my mouth! LOL
Grew up that way, I guess, Mom always said, "Just as well say it as think it!" Learned about consequences from her, too! LMAO. Coffee's done. get some and let's go out onna deck and see what the daybreak looks like this morning. Bring yer, cup, we'll wait for the paper boy. Got a sweater in that closet by the door if ya need one. Another day to get it right, feller's. Oughta be fun.

Thanks for the lifer juice Bones, you 'ol so-n-so. Yah, that rooster would make a mighty nice mcnugget - if he keeps ****in me off.
I have a suggestion for the desk Bones - find a big 'circular file' (like them gray one's we had) and slide all of it into the file, then deposit into a closet nearby for a later date. I just caught a glimpse of the temp 54. YIKES. The other morning when I got up at 0400 - it was 81.
August/September bloomers - Mum's the word pal....... big hearty Mum's. I strongly suggest you drawing up an Eagle, Globe and Anchor and then making a bed in the yard...... I'll guide you along. If you really wanted to, you could do the entire Marine Corps emblem - the whole shebang.......... if yer bored that is. LOL
You can put on yer sweater if you wanna. I'm goin out in my skivvies. That's why I put up 50' of 8' tall fence right there next to my deck- for that purpose alone (and so I dint have to listen to the yappin neighbor dog's anymore).

Yawl have a fine day.

That's what my neighbor said to me this morning. His friend drives over every morning climbs into his trucka nd they drive off to work at 4:45 AM.

This morning I'm standing in front of my garage (office door), enjoying my coffee, a full moon overhead. I used to hate mornings like this in Nam. Couldn't make out the shadows on the ground and what was living and breathing and what wasn't.

So, the neighbor sees me standing there and drives by slow, rols down his window and says.

"Everyday is Saturday,"

Naw, I said back to him, today I'm taking the day off. After what Bones posted I deserve to take a break from my retirement.

I'll have another cup of coffee, thank you.

BarnDog we can never keep Bones still.....he is always hopping....LOL
Well, storms arrived last night, but the humidity is still here. They are saying it will take all day to get out of here...Another day of heat....
Yo, guys I invited a young lady over...Hold down boys she is married to a Marine....she is trying to find some buddies for her husband...she tried a few ways and she is at a lost.....Make sure you give a Marine Welcome, and let us see if we can point her in the right direction.....Her name is Andi..Grant.....
Well need another coffee......
All have a good day......
Fresh pot is brewing for all those that come late....

I got booted completely back to my screen saver. Lost fifteen minutes of typing! Where was I? Oh, yeah, coffee's on fellers. get some. Ya know where the coffee's at. Was thinking about a few things. Things about life. Yeah, philosophy this early in the morning. I got be joking! LOL Ya gotta hit the ground running, fellers!
I do, but I ain't fit to live with til I had my coffee! LOL Was thinking about reality and living is all. Grew up in small towns, mostly. I remember watching John Wayne and reading Captain America as a kid. Always thinking about gettin out and having adventures and being the hero and such. Hell, we all had dreams like that as kid, one time or another. Finally got to do it one day. Signed a bunch a papers and a month later I was off. Been a wild ride, ain't it! Been fun a time or two, also! LOL. Got to be a hero in a way. Did the job. Didn't lose anyone on my watch. Other folks did here and there. But that was their watch. Did what I could to give them a running start. Adventure turned out to be a mixed bag. Satisfaction. Knowing I was doing stuff others'd only dream about. I've done a fair bit over the years. Learned a bunch.
Adventure isn't always fun or heroic. Folks be gettin cold, wet, dirty, sweaty, tired, and generally a helluva long way from home. Not to mention yer life being in danger or those around ya. I'd do it all over again if I had the chance, only better this time, I hope. Because of it, I don't have any life long friends, got a few lifetime friends and My Marine Corps. Don't have the big career with the corner office, but most folks like that don't know half what I do and haven't done half what I have. Don't have a real place I call home. Got used to packin up and being on the move. Life of adventure! I wouldn't trade it for the world....although being Bill Gates fer a bit would be kinda fun.....Well, It's nice out there. I'm gonna sit on the deck and have my coffee. Fellers can join me if ya want. Coffee's on, get a fresh cup.

My team always won..hehehe

I wanted to get in the Corps in 64' but family MAJOR problems kept my dream at bay for five more years..but finally made it passed the D.I. and made the BIG team and became a U.S.Marine!

Even after the Corps i spent the rest of my career with Marines as a DoD contractor..gezz i had best of two worlds!

Tanks for the brew and the jawing!

Goodmorning

Reflecting on our life...
Should we have done it different....it depends on what you did..
Did you enjoy it...Would you have change anything...
Lots of questions..but would it be different.....Most would change the bad....but I'm happy with mine.....
When we are kids, we had dreams and hopes....That is growing up stage.....
When I was growing up, I wanted to be fireman, police officer, dr., etc..My mom had other idea's she wanted me to become a priest...now don't laugh..She never knew me.....LOL.
Had to shock poor mom, to tell her her baby was becoming a Marine...Oh well, can't always do what your parents wanted...You have to do what you feel in your heart..and my dream was becoming the best Marine I could be...I'm happy what I did, never claimed to be a Hero...but I did my job and become the best I could be....a Marine with Pride and Honor...
No, I wouldn't change anything in my life...I'm a Marine married to a great wife and have 4 children by Ellie, and 2 from my ex...

Well, feller's, coffee's on! Come on in, you know where the cups are at! It's a new day, folks. Hope yer ready for it. Hope it's a day where ya get to visit with the family, do some chores around the house and such. Just taking it easy. What we used to call piddling around. Gotta mow the yard, myself. Saw a few weeds in the flower garden, guess I'll have to take care of them. Check the oil in the truck and such like. Think I got a match that'll clear off my desk for me! LOL. Yep. Was thinking about what we were talking about yesterday. Didn't mean ta make ya think so hard! LOL.;) But I was thinking this ,morning. Just ...yeah, I know, it scares ya when I get to thinking, don't it! LMAO. Anyway, I was thinking about that and got to thinking about those dreams we had as kids. (I know those younger folks figure this is a waste of time, but they'll be glad they heard us one of these days.) Damn. Can't believe I said that! Sounding like my Dad, fer crying out loud! I got to thinking that dreams are something special...not talking about when ya asleep, but when you think of what you'd like to be or to do. For me it was becoming a Marine. Never had a dream beyond that after I was in. Well, 'cept for winning the lottery or trying to keep some damn fool from making all the mistakes I have! LOL The thought came to mind. What price are dreams. I buy a lottery ticket once in awhile, for a dollar, it's worth the dream for a day or three. With other things, you need to consider just what price are you willing to pay for the dream. Do you go after being a CEO of a big company and as so often happens, compromise your self and everyone around you? Do you endeavor to be the best "free soloist" in the world? Are you willing to be the head of a family and ignore them in order to provide them with the best in housing, clothing and toys? Are you willing to sacrifice friendships, stability and respect in order to follow your beliefs? Is time to immerse yourself in following your dream not a problem? What kind of committment are you willing to enact on your part in order to follow your dream? What are you willing to give up? No matter what your dream, there is always a cost. Always. But there is great reward, too. Satisfaction, self-respect, if you're lucky maybe even monetary reward or public recognition. My own dream now is to encourage others to follow their dreams, no matter what, and to be of some little service in word or deed here and there. Of course, I would like to readjust the world a bit, without becoming the "little corporal" in the process! LMAO. Sun'll be up in a bit, boys. Get some more coffee. Paper oughta be here in a few. Another day, fellers. Hell, we might even get it right this time! LOL

Hey fellers! How ya doing? Coffee's on. Get some! You know where the cup's are at. Just above the sink, the door on the right. Yeah, there ya go.
Drinking that store bought Kona again. "Good enuff for the girls I go out with" is what an old partner of mine used to say. Ol Lady thinks its good. Ya ever had the real deal, ya know what I'm talking about. Although once in awhile I get a hankerin' fer that stuff outta the SNCO coffee mess. Nasty, but if ya put enuff sugar in it, it was almost drinkable. Thinkin' about that brings back some memories. Once in awhile I'd have time to raid their coffee mess at night. I remember one night taking a cup of that coffee with me out on the flight line to check out a jump on the flight controls on a CH-53. While she was warming up, we played around a bit. L/Cpl Boyce and L/Cpl Ayers were out there with me. Ayers was a good kid, a little outta control sometimes, but he tried hard. Boyce was a good Marine when I knew him. Anyway, I was orienting the FNG's on the cockpit. Getting them a little fam time. They didn't know it but I was training them to get their licenses for all that crap while we was waiting for the hydraulic system to warm up. Turned on the spot light and showed them how to light up anything they wanted. Ayers saw a jackrabbit out on the flightline and he was off before I could say anything. Well I was stuck, all I had to do to go flying was to give the throttles a little more juice, and release the rotor brake. Couldn't shut down before I saw him in front of the bird chasing that damn rabbit. Some funny ****. Ayers was built like a brick chasing this damn rabbit all over the flightline. Well, I thought I'd be nice and keep the critter lit up for him. Boyce and I were taking bets on how close he'd get and whether Ayers'd catch the damn thing. Before it was over, Ayers was outta breath, sweating like he'd just humped fifteen miles with a full pack inna hundred degree heat. Biggest damn fool grin ya ever saw on his face. Boyce and I were laughing so hard we had tears in our eyes. "Why'd ya do that, Ayers? What the **** were ya thinking?" I laughed at him. He looked me dead in the eye, still grinning. "Sergeant Bonesteel, I just wanted to see if I could catch him!" he said. Thing is, the damn fool came pretty close a few times! LMAO. Ya gotta have a dream, fellers! Even if it's impossible, you should come pretty damn close a few times! LOL. What are ya looking at? Get some more coffee! Paper'll be here in a bit. I got the front page and the comics! Come on out on the deck. It's nice out there this morning. Grab a couple pieces of gravel and see if we can hit that dog that's been ****tin in the yard lately! Gonna be a good day. Give yer Old Lady a kiss and a hug. Call yer Mom. Read the paper and relax fer a bit. Another chance to get it right. Don't ya just love this ****. It's what we served for. Enjoy the fruits of yer labor boys. Never let the bastards get ya down. LOL. Damn that tastes good. Better then that SNCO coffee, that's for sure.
