Well, it's still mornin' here! Mornin' folsk! Come on in and set if ya wanta! It's a new day!

Maybe Admin can figure a way to keep from shuttin' down the site when I'm due to fix coffee. Ya think! Seems they do this to me a couple times a week anymore! Then I get to hear about it!Somewhere around 00:30 and 01:30 mountain time they shut her down. I can cruise the internet but I can't get in here! Oh well. Life is. Maybe they're just thinkin' I need my sleep! LOL. I'll sleep when I'm dead, boys! ;) Don't worry about me!

Coffee's coffee, so it don't matter as long as I get some, I guess.

Let's see....what were we visitin' about yesterday....

Oh, yeah...among other things, we were talkin' about Spiderman. I'll save him fer another time. I know you folks are jonesin', so I'll make this the quick way....

I've said a lot of stuff about Marines and honor and such. I believe that no matter how much the Corps hammered one or all of us, we still got those values deep down inside where they just ain'y gonna go away, no matter what we do. I spent a lot of years myself tryin' to forget. Well, it didn't work. Just as well stop fightin' adn realize that what the DI said was true, I guess. "You'll never be civilians again! From now on, you'll be Marines. Once a Marine, always a Marine." He also said something about not seein' our names in the paper under "Ex-Marine does" this or that either, 'cause he'd hunt our raggedy ass down if he did! LOL.

The values are good and true. However much we suffered, those values hold true. They are timeless in their essence. Honor, courage, committment. Take care of your people. Take care of each other. Get the mission accomplished. Take care of your stuff.
Take care of yourself. Teamwork. Self-discipline. Responsibility. The importance of history and it's effect upon our present times.

There is so much to list...God, Country, Corps. Patriotism. Freedom. Liberty. and their cost.....

And if nothing else....I learned how to fold my clothes......

Warm up yer coffee folks! It's a good day! A new beginning! We get new opportunities every day toi get it right....one day we might just take advantage of it and get it all done better maybe! LOL.

Paper's here! I got the comics!

If I wasnt about to put a pork roast into the oven, I'd go into some of this stuff, Bones. It's 1550.

And, I fold my damm clothes when I feel like it.

Mornin' Coffee! Ain't nothin' like it is there! LOL. Bleary eyed, ass a draggin', wanna go back to bed....LOL. I'll stop there! I ain't a mornin' person myself, really!. Spent too much time workin' the swing shift over the years! LOL. Coffee's on folks! Grab a cup before ya fall asleep where ya stand! Find a sit while yer at it! Paper'll be here directly!

Wake up before ya start yer day! Hope ya got things planned out! Hell ya gotta have a plan, even if it all goes to hell when ya walk in the door at work! LOL.

It's a new day, folks. A new beginning! A new opportunity to screw it up...I mean... get it right! LOL. What I'm sayin' is, don't go lookin' fer trouble. It'll be along soon enough! Just make sure ya got a plan to start dealin' with it! That's where beginnings start. That's where you'll find the best opportunities. Right smack in the middle of a **** storm! So when it's lookin rough on ya, that's when ya start lookin fer openings to get yer licks in. Just keep yer head is all. Just like fightin'.

Life is a struggle most of the time in one way or another. Dealin with loss, disappointment, bad feelings...whatever. I've known rich folks that had troubles. Wasn't money fer most, but they had troubles. I've known celebrities couldn't figure a way to get away from it all. It destroyed more than a few I know. It Killed one or two I once ran with years ago. We all got troubles. One thing is hard for one to deal with, it's another thing for someone else.

When ya lookin at someone else and their life, think it all through, step by step....look fer the good and the bad in it. Pluses and minuses. Whether it's pure ignorance or knowing too much without the experience and wisdom to go with it! Whether they're rich and foolish or wise and poor. Whether they're drunk or crazy or a weird combination of all or some of it. It gets hard to judge folks when ya know what they might be goin' through. Sometimes these folks can't see the opportunities in the midst of their distress and hard times. Some are so busy just tryin' to survive, they ain't got time to look up and see the opportunities in front of them.

I know there's somethin' in the Book that says somethin' about that, but I ain't preachin' here. Just thinkin' out loud is all....

We all need to stop and take a deep breath from time to time. Take a look around and see things a bit differently than we did before. Maybe take a minute and just wake up a bit before we start our day. That's why I try to get the coffee goin' for ya in the morning when I can.

I get a semi-captive audience who can't abide not seein' what my next train wreck's gonna look like, and you get a chance to wake up a bit! LOL.

Warm up yer coffee folks! We got another chance to get it right! Hell, if we pay attention to what's goin' on around us, we might even see another opportunity to do it better next time!

Well you have narrowed down me pretty well....I'm that crazy poor guy.....LOL.....but happy......

I don't look for trouble, but you are right it sure can find you....LOL...

I work hard to try to make things right....but I don't get that right all the time....but I never lose hope....I will keep trying till I do get it right in my book.....

Lots of work to do......
Hope all have a good day...........

Mornin' Folks! How ya doin' this mornin' anyway! Coffee's on,folks! Come on in and shut the door! I'ts nasty outside! Got a bit of snow and some wind today. Not enough of either to holler about, but it dropped near forty degrees again! It was over 60 yesterday mornin! Grab yerself a cup of coffee and warm up! Find a seat! get comfortable! Day ain't started yet!

I was thinkin' about somethin' this mornin'. Yeah, yeah, yeah! But what the hell! Ya gotta do somethin' with yer spare time! LOL. Anyway. It might seem a little nostalgic fer some, but I was thinkin' about change. My maternal grandparents were dang near nintey, or close enough as to make no never mind. I think about the changes they saw in their lifetimes now and then. I've visited with other folks as well over this. Usually about all they can do is to shake their heads, look off into the past as if you weren't there in front of them and say, "Yes. It's changed a lot."

Traveling in wagons, trains from the turn of the century, automobiles were a relatively new thing. Politics, society, even the trades that they were once engaged in. Towns became cities, cities became something else altogether. More people in America now than they could have imagined in the twenties or thirties when they were young and just getting started in life. From wagons and mostly horses for heavy labor to men on the moon and computers to give them direct access tothe world's information when an education when they were growing up was nearly optional for many.

Changes. Some hard to endure. Some welcomed with open arms! Who wouldn't like a dishwasher after washing dishes by hand fer a large family for years! Clothes washers and dryers instead of a washer that you have to push and pull and fill by hand and all that went with it. Vacuums that worked! Calculators, though most could do whatever math they needed by hand. Lots of changes. Nearly inumerable in their numbers, scope and impact on us all. Nearly ninety years of such changes.

Some of us have seen changes that we, at times find hard to believe. Some we don't understand. Some leave us scratching our heads! LOL. But what we've got to look forward to!
Cars that don't run on gasoline! Automated cars and roads maybe! Medicine that even now would appear to be magic to those who lived in the 1920's! The future of medicine! Who knows for sure! biomechanical miracles of some sort or another. Nano-technology! Men on Mars!!!! Airplanes that can take us to the moon and back in a day or two! Computers that can be implanted in our brains with the use of holographic keyboards or vocal commands! Ram jets that can take us to the nearest star and back in eight years! What will it be like, the future!

As vast the changes that our parents and grandparents saw in their lifetimes, so much more will the future be for us!

We've paid for it! We fought for it! Let's look forward to it and try not to have it leave us scratchin' our heads, wondering what happened.

It's a new day folks! Warm up yer coffee! We got another chance to get it right! Hell, lookin' back, we'll do it better this time!

Mornin' folks! How the hell are ya this mornin'! Coffee's on! Grab a cup and get some! Paper'll be here directly! I got the front pages and the comics first! Well, hell, find a squat and take a load off!

Middle of the week ain't it? I'll try to take it easy on ya! What's the matter! Did I make ya think too much yesterday! LOL. Surely not! Actually, I don't have much today of any note. Weather's got nasty around here. cold snow, warm pavement, dropping temps...throw in a little snow...It's a blast to drive on though! LOL.

Pretty pictures everywhere ya look! Post card type, ya know. icicles and snow on the trees...dark overcast skies. That flat, grey-blue color ya see sometimes. Then, even as overcast as it is, I can see for miles from here...the city lights have halos around them....sounds are muted.....

There's always beauty around ya if ya take a sec and look for it.
Sometimes we gotta stop and take a look around us, take a deep breath, and see...

It's the middle of the week, when ya might consider stoppin' fer a minute and remembering the beauty on yer kid's face when ya give her that present, or the light in yer wife's eyes when she's lookin' at you and doesn't think you see her lookin'....when ya leave the house this morning and look back over yer shoulder or through the windshield of the car and consider how much it all really means to you. Remember why yer workin' so hard and take a minute to look around you at the beauty of it all. It's worth it. It really is.

Enjoy every minute folks...they go too damn fast if ya don't.

Ya might miss somethin' if yer not payin' attention.

It's a new day, folks! Another opportunity to get it right! We got another chance to do it better this time!

Warm up yer coffee and get yer head sorted out before ya get goin! Coffee'll be here when ya get back!

Hey, thanks for the cup of coffee Bones. Sure am glad ya got an extra cup this morning. Just got back in from the Tarmac on the field. I was checkin out a problem on one of the birds out there. The wind is light but the mist is kinda heavy. Not sure if its mist or just really low fog. I do know it cuts into you like a cold-steel blade. Cuts right through to the bone.

Seems I get colder quicker as I get older. I don't like being cold. I can remember runnin around in a T-Shirt in the snow when I was younger. Not anymore. I wouldn't mind having one of those new butt-warmers around.

The coffee's good this morning Bro. Can ya spare another half a cup? Thanks! You wouldn't happen to have a snack hidden around here anywhere. I hear tell you make a mean cinnamon roll some mornings. NO? Well, maybe next time.

The planes are callin again. Thanks for the break time. See ya soon.

Your Friend.

What!!!!!!! no cinnamon rolls. Thanks for the coffee, better than nothing I guess. Bones, I guess we got the same storm you did. We have about 5 inches of the white stuff on the ground. The nice thing about living here is that it probably should be gone in 3 or 4 days and then its back out on the golf course. I do think you are right Bones when you say its beautiful to look at, especially the warmth of your home. Aging is interesting, seems the body ages faster than the mind. I still think I can do more than I actually can. Well gotta go workout to keep the old ticker moving. Have a great day all.

Morning all... I have stopped in a couple times but basically only had time to check out what y'all put down... Had a 2 day/3 shift weekend. That means I went to work on Saturday at 2:30 pm and came home Sunday at 6:30 am, got a few hours sleep and went back to work on Sunday at 2:30. Weekend went too fast, they always do. Now it's Monday again and I got another one of them doubles coming up this Sat/Sun. Well, it got me some time off over Thanksgiving and some more time over Christmas. It's worth it to be with the wife and kids. Been cold here but no snow. Heard that some of the 'old timers' are saying it will be a snowless winter but just real damn cold. Don't know... Figure we'll get some snow by Christmas. Usually have it by Thanksgiving. Snow sure is pretty but I can live without it too. Nice thing about this area is, when it snows it's off the road by the next morning. I don't mind that a bit! Wife got it right this year. Rather than going through the pain of puttin up the lights outside she put 'em up in the windows. Looks good. Was easy to do and all I had to do was watch! How can ya beat that? Y'all have a great day, Semper Fi!

Morning folks! How the hell are ya! Coffee's on and it's hot! Better grab a cup and get warmed up! It's a good mornin' er oatmeal or cream of wheat as well! It's warmed up a bit! All the way to 3 degrees! Find a squat. Paper'll be here directly.

Got my Christmas lights put up yesterday! The ones that don't work, I leave fer the old lady to fix! Don't worry! I don't put them up very high! Besides. I don't have the patience fer it. If it were me I wouldn't mess with them, but she likes them, so up they go! LOL. She'll ooh and ah over that stuff every time. Come to think of it....maybe I oughta start wearin' Christmas lights....

I guess it all depends on what motivates ya. What a segue, huh! LOL. Any number of ways a man could go with this one! Kinda like me doin' coffee in the mornin'. What would motivate a man to do such a thing....and any number of ways to go with it.We all have our reasons fer doin' stuff. Everything we do has one motivation or another behind why we do it. Sometimes it's not as easy as you think to discern those motivations even, or especially, in yourself.

I do this ramblin' for any number of reasons, really. Most fer myself, I figure. I like to think I do it fer others, but...that's ego talkin'. We all got that fer motivation behind much of what we do in life. Even many of the things we do for others we really do for ourselves. It makes us feel good. Why else get mad when the other guy don't thank us fer what we did for him! There's common courtesy of course, but yet....if we're doin' somethin' fer the other guy as a free gift, it's free, there is no price for it, not even the thanks required by most of us as a form of courtesy. We did it for them after all! Gifts should not have any price. There is no recognition required for it.

I get to ramblin' here inthe mornin', I pretty much say what comes to mind. There's no art in it as far as literature or even good english and grammar to speak of. I just visit fer a bit, extemporaneaously takin' a look at things I wonder about. I do it out of curiosity, wonderin' where one particular path of thought or another might take me. Along the way, if it gets some else to considerin' things they maybe never thought of, or haven't considered in awhile...well, that's good, too. If it helps to get yer day started a bit better than it might have otherwise, I've done more than I expected. I haven't really looked at why I do this. Pure ego I guess! Hopin' that I might be of some little difference in the life of another here or there. Hopin' to...well..that'll get a little heavy, so I won't go there! LOL.

Maybe...maybe I'm tryin' those Christmas lights on to see if they'll light up the dark a bit fer all of us. Hope is a powerful motivation all it's own. That season's on us again. The one about hope. New beginnings. A chance to do it over again. An opportunity to get it right, maybe even do it better this time around.

I try on those lights fer the old lady alla time...maybe one of these days she'll get it....and it won't be a matter of seeing the lights as just something pretty to look at.

I suppose that is my hope here. That I've brought a little light into the shadows for some of you. Maybe a little comfort. Maybe a slightly different way of seeing things. An arrogant thought, but still...one of my motivations....

I wonder if I get naked when I try those lights on fer the ol lady...she might get it then, do ya think? Naw. She'll probably think I want somethin' fer myself!

Well....maybe....

Warm up yer coffee, folks! Set a spell. It's a new day! Get yer head sorted out before ya take off fer work. I'll have coffee on all day. Drop by anytime.

"I wonder if I get naked when I try those lights on..."

Thanks bones, just the visual I needed to come into! LOL

Let's just see where these thoughts lead us today.

Cold here but not near as cold as where you are bones. Still no snow. I'm hearin that snow is should be startin up around mid December. Hope it don't come on too strong... Plannin a Christmas tree huntin party mid month. You know it can't be all bad when all ya got to report on is the weather conditions!

Bones, man, let that ego swell... Ya got it comin'. Ya do brighten the day and this has become a constant - something to look forward to - to help the day get by or, at least, start it off with a thought and a smile.

Thanks man... If'n it ain't said enough... ya got that comin too!

Naw, don't try the naked Christmas light thing, they get hot after awhile. LOL

The large red ribbon that needs unwrapping works though. LMAO

I usually just stick one of those MasterCard or visa card stickers that come in the mail; I take and paste them on at certain places on meself. Women always want to remove those stickers for some reason.

Just received a batch v veterans stickers for Christmas, you know those address labels that come free for a donation. Always feel guilty for not sending in a contribution but cant get myself to just throw them away without using them. But some of those patriotic stickers are pretty good when you play the Star Spangle banner in the background and ask for them to do their patriotic duty.LMAO

I better stop; this may give the young ones here like little Jerry too much to think about.

LMAO

Don't let CAS read this note; she may want to try it for her hubby. LMAo

Giving away too many secrets here...

Thanks for the coffee its always good

Coffee taste great today. Been away for a few days and missed your morning mail Bones.

Stoped off at Lejeune while down south. I do not think we have to worry about the new marines. I got tired just watching them doing all that running to stay in shape. I can not remember anybody I was stationed with that went out running every day. If it did inter my mind I just laid down till the tought passed.

Got the hell out of there early yesterday morning and beat the storm. Had good weather all the way home.

Had a little trouble getting aboard base. Supose to have a sponsor to get aboard. We did a little begging and sure enough it worked. Both Gieger and Lejeune have sure change alot. What a PX. You don't have to go off base for anything.

Had that a long time ago. 0430. Ain't been here in a couple daze - had too many other things around here to attend to. Funny being ADHD, I tend to hyperfocus sometimes.
Bone's even had to email me to see if I was okay.... Damm Marines - always checkin up on things. What IF a guy wanted to be left alone????? Not that it's a bad thing. I aint depressed or anything.

Probally do the tree & lights thingie this weekend. I gotta plug in the 35' Spruce out front, to see how many work this year (why bother takin' them down I say...) LOL
See....... we like doing the tree bit, and all that jazz. The real problem is the cats. We have 3. Now, 2 of them really aren't a bother, but the oldest is. Snookie, being 13 now.... believes it's her mission (all calicos by the way) to just play with everything within reach on the tree.

Fair game she sez. I don't have the heart to put lights down that low.... So..... we buy some cheap-o plastic bulbs and stuff and she knocks them down, we put them back up..... yada yada.

Enuf. Gotta run and get some more plywood to finish the new dog condo. They be hating the old one.

'Mornin' Folks! How the hell are ya this mornin'! Coffee's on! Ya better grab a cup and get yer eyes open! It's gonna be a beautiful day! Paper'll be around shortly! Now I don't have to walk down in the yard to get it! LOL. They gave me a little box for it and said mount it outside. I did! Right at the top of the steps, just outside the door! Hell, maybe the kid's old enough to drink coffee!

Well, after yesterday it looks like I gotta use the words nekkid and electricity together more often! LOL.

Beautiful day yesterday. Got in the thirties, sun a shinin'. Some of the snow melting on the northern slopes. Southern slopes still white with snow. Roads dry where the sun hits them, snowpacked where it doesn't. Makes things interesting going around a curve on the highway at 60 or so.....

I could use that and get real cheesy with it, but I won't. I'll let ya do your own thinkin' on that one fer once.LOL.Hey! I was thinkin' about how Life Is. ok! LOL.

I got to play with the VA again today. Five appointments in two days! Ya think they like my company or what! LOL. I fool them. I bring a book along to read while I'm waitin'. I don't get bored that way. Some of those magazines suck. I will give them this, overall, they treat a person a bit better than they used to and they seem to get ya out a little quicker than they used to...overall....

Get to visit with a few folks here and there as well. That's probably the best part. Yer all in the same boat together when ya get there. Some folks aren't willin' to talk, or they're worried a bit about things. Most'll open up if ya start a converstaion with them.
I've sat and visited with Colonels and combat vets and men and women from most of the wars and such we been involved with as well as every branch of the serivce when I been visitin' VA hospitals for whatever reason. There's a comradeship there if yer willing to break the monotony. Might even lighten up their day fer a bit if ya ain't careful. Hell, I even had an ex-ray tech bustin' up laughin' once, then got the dour middle-aged receptionist to actually smile a bit. Maybe they'll be a bit more willin' to smile and joke a bit when the next vet walks into their area. Ya gotta cover all the angles, ya know! Sometimes., if I ain't real careful, I ferget about the stuff I'm dealin' with fer at least a little while when I'm there. Who knows. Next time yer there, ya might run across an old buddie or somewhat. Hell, we don't all look nineteen anymore ya know! LOL. I've seen it happen a time or two. Can't describe it. Two old war dogs collapsin' in tears in each other's arms....

There's joy to be had in our comradeship. Eat the same dirt. Stomp the same ground, or in my case, breathe the same JP-5 fumes and walk the same tarmacs, work the same hangars. No one else quite fits us like that, but someone who's been there with us. We've all felt out of place in our lives without that comradeship. That brotherhood. Those shared experiences. Shared lives mean a bit more than we sometimes think, no matter how much we try to overlook those times, those buddies, those experiences. Never forget. You can't anyway. Embrace it. It is who we are.

United States Marines.

Warm up yer cup, folks. It's a new day. Weekend's nearly here. Get rested up when today's over with, and you have another chance to do it all better and get it all right next week! We're all in it together. I'm here for ya, Marine.

DAMMIT *pours a cup* My eyes are open. First thing I remember this morning is....... I can't remember. Must be age creeping up on me. Either that or it's this medication I ain't sure LOL.

I got to play with the Friend of Court ( I would change that but I don't want to offend) AGAIN. Man, I took care of that back in April/May. Got rid of the EX once and for all. Or so I thought. But, in their infinite wisdom and knowledge - they send me a letter, on my birthday (which sent me thru the roof) sayin I owed them still. WRONG ANSWER.

This moron atty they have for the 'Referee' now (sees you before you see the Judge - in effort to help expedite the process), and I had a few words last time I was there. I in no uncertain terms, told him I was going to get my due process rights - and that the conversation we were having at the present time, was - in effect OVER. I threw my pocket constitution on his desk, and then picked up my cell phone and called my atty. ( those county atty's HATE THAT) He looked as if he would have come unglued if given half a chance. This was in April.
*Fast-Forward to December*

So, I go in yesterday....... if any of ya know what 'hurry up and wait' means - when it comes to County or State agencies, the Corps holds not a candle. 45 minutes of milling around, I go back to the window. I nicely explain to the lady, that we can rectify this in about 2 minutes. I show her my paperwork. She says, 'you'll have to show this to the Referee, Sir - or you could have contacted your Case Worker". "Well, (I said)..... I tried to contact her, except I can't get a phone call returned, heres the dates and times I called and left messages. Secondly, theres about 50 people standing in the hallway, and 2 chairs. You've wasted 45 minutes of my time so far, and at $47 per hour of my time, thats roughly, $35.00.... whom in your office do I bill for my time?"

She looked at me with a completely dumbfounded expression, and says 'you are number uhh...... 6' - I said "huh - thats funny...... why is my name at the top of your list then, and you are telling me I'm #6? Is this an arbitrary decision on your part, Ma'am? Would that be based on the fact that maybe I stepped up here and attempted to rectify this in an orderly fashion to save time and money? Because if I find out what that procedure is, and I will....... I will be back, only this time, with my attorney".
(I prayed that the Friend of the Court himself would step out of the back - but they know who I am already - I read them the riot act back in April, and they didn't like it LMAO)

Needless to say, when I sat down with my caseworker, I showed her my figures, and facts. She had the gall to say ' I don't care about those'. (man I think they were trying to pi$$ me off) I said... "well Rose, you should, because the office here can't keep it straight, and if you think anyone would have it in order, then it would most likely be me, right?" "Yes" she replies . I sit down with her, and told her my figures were accurate to within a buck.
We combed thru the facts and numbers... turns out I was right and they were wrong.

I was off .44 cents. Only because of an internal accounting error on THEIR part. I paid the next weeks support + the .45 cents and told her I would bill her for the penny.
You don't think they'd bill me? OR YOU????? Ya rite.......

p.s. Cook - I didn't take a page from your notebook. I started this war on my own back in 1988 when my ex-wife took our Daughter and hauled for Arkansas - right after our Son died. She kept her hidden from me for almost 3 years - and the 6 years it took me to force her back, I had a sum total of 11 days of visitation.

You know what happens when you pi$$ off a Marine. So does that Judge. He found out. I spent quite a few days in the GrayBar Hotel.

Not one regret. OOHHHHHH RAHHHHHHHHHHHH

Bones

this is a small town and the VA offices here are really something. So far I have been treated great, a lot better than I have in our local hospital or Midical center. It must have something to do with the people that staff the different offices. Fake a heart attack and see if you get in faster.

Mornin' folks! How the hell are ya! Coffee's on! Better grab a cup! Paper'll be here shortly! I don't kow what the hell yer doin' here. Ya oughta be curled up next to the ol' lady fer a bit longer! It's Saturday! Give her a big hug and a kiss and tell her how much ya love her! Hell, if ya won't kiss her fer yerself, kiss her fer me and tell her I said Hi! LOL.

I ain't been to sleep yet. Been "blowin' out the pipes" a bit. I'll be sleepin' in when I get to bed, so don't be lookin' for me before ten or thereabouts. My time. Hell, you East Coasters get up too damn early anyway! What does an east coaster look like anyway? It's one o those things ya put on the coffee table to keep it from getin' nasty, right? Hell. I thought we were all Americans anyway....

I been thinkin' about Christmas today. Got to playin' on another thread and the thought struck me,"Bones, you don't have a thing in mind fer Mornin' Coffee. What ya gonna visit about anyway?"
I thought, "Hell, I don't know. Might just as well be Christmas! It's early, but what the hell, I'm a man! I can do it. Might get these folks in the spirit."

Well, I was thinkin' somethin' like that anyway....between drinks....and yes...I mixed it with coke! Can't afford scotch. Scotch worth drinkin anyway! LOL.

So that's our topic fer the day, and probably will be fer the next couple weeks. Get ready! We're gonna touch on that religious stuff! I prefer the word spiritual, but fer you organissed types, I'll use the word religious, just so we're in the same neighborhood!.
Hell, if it was good enough fer Thomas, George and folks like that, it oughta be good enough fer you! ;) Besides. I don't see yer name on the constitution... though I see the blood of many a man and woman who fought to uphold it.

We don't have to like the way some folks go about it, but judeo-christian values are what was behind it all. Christmas is a religious holiday. Remember that, will ya! We don't have to like what each other thinks, or believes. We fought for the other feller to believe what he wanted. Whether we like it or not.

Remember.. this isn't a god damn religious or governemt ***** thread. It's about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It's about Christmas. Giving and loving. Think outside yer troubles and problems fer a bit.

Some of you folks SEEM to miss the point of what I often say here. I don't even want you to begin to misconstrue this!

Christmas was originally a spiritual celebration of the birth of Christ. Consider what he stood for before you go spoutin' off outta old hurt and less coffee than ya need before yer BHG is in gear would ya!

Remember what most of those who started this country believed. Christmas is family time. A time of rememberance., of celebration, of hope for peace on earth. A time of giving. A time of remembering the love that was given fer you.

Otherwise, why celebrate it at all.....in any fashion.

Dang. I got on a rant. Sorry, folks. Warm up yer coffee. Think about what ya got. Consider. We'll get it right if we remember why we're doin' it to start with. Hell...we just might do it better!

Coffee tastes good...needs some whiskey, though.....

Morning all... Hey, it's still morning! Bones, if'n ya wanna kiss my wife ya get to keep her too! I'll send her over directly (with the bills!) LOL

Rest of the family went off to Boise for some church, it's a strange set up but we have no pastor, just a tape of a pastor giving the sermon as the congregation here is about 10 people and they need at least 40 to get a pastor. Anyway, today is one of the few days a year that a pastor makes it out this way - so they had to go early. I don't tend to go as I've got a 16 hour day ahead of me and when the wife gets out to Boise, she likes to shop. Well, that cuts into my time way too much. I don't mind the church part so much, but an hours drive there, and hour + for the sermon and an hour drive back. Then you throw in shopping... well, the day is just shot! My mother-in-law is Inglesi ni Cristo (Church of Christ out of the Philippines). Ain't exactly used to it. They dog everyone though. Catholics and prodistants. They think, believe and use scripture to show how they are the one true religion. Thing is, I don't need to hear that, I'm already there so I'm of the mind that I wanna be taught something, don't tell me how you are right and everyone else is wrong. They are very exclusionary as well. Kicked the wife out due to our daughter being born out of wedlock and that she married me, a non-member. Then again, stubborn Swede and Marine that I am... raised Lutheran... It's all good though. Wife and I have started going to a local Lutheran church. Not as many waves cast as I thought there'd be. With the drive to Boise, wife told her mom that we'd only make 2 trips a month out there - perhaps less in the winter in the event of bad weather - and on the days we don't head out to Boise, we'd go to church here. Hell of a mess. Figure it will give the kids a good round view of religion. Let 'em make up their own minds when they're older.

Damn bones, see what you went and did? LOL

Oh yeah, the MIL's churck doesn't celebrate Christmas because Jesus wasn't born in December. Well, it ain't about when he was born, it's that he was born and what he did etc. However, she does like the decorations and the family fun and all the gifts (kid especially likes the gifts). She's been a good sport about it all. She has her beliefs but doesn't ram 'em down our throats - nor do I mine towards her. As anyone can tell you, Lutherans have it made - half Catholic and half Prodistant, which ever is right, we're in there! LOL

Y'all have a great day... been foggy here for some reason, God's way of making us appreciate the sun.

'Mornin' folks! How the hell are ya this mornin'! Coffee's on! Ya better grab a cup! Paper'll be here pretty soon, I think. I got the comics first!

Well, let's see....what were we visitin' over yesterday anyway! LOL. Kinda scared some of you folks, I think! Well, that's me on whiskey! LOL. Ya oughta se me on Wild Turkey! I don't do that much, just a few times a year is all. Thank God, eh! LOL.

Christmas, wasn't it? Well, like it or not, it's that time of year. Family time. Another time of remembering and bein' thankful fer what ya got in yer lives. The love of family and friends. A warm, dry place to sleep. Food in yer house. Clothes on yer back.

A religious celebration. A uniquely Christian celebration. Most all the trappings come from other times and places. Most of them having been borrowed from older "heathen" religions. One person accepts one thing, another person accepts another...as far as those trappings are concerned.

Christmas is to celebrate the birth of a man, whether or not he was born in January or December, who claimed to be the son of God...actually, if you read pretty close, he claimed to be God....Unity. There's fancy words for it, but that's what I'll use now. Unity. Something we know a little about, bein' Marines and all. Working together as one unit. Yeah, I know it doesn't always work that way, but we're humans. We make mistakes.

One thing we see, that we get a small taste of this time of year, is the potential for unity on this earth as he would've liked. Unity among believers, in any case. We know what it is like to be believers as Marines. We have to be believers in the things that this nation has traditionally stood for if we are to do what we are trained to do.

A quick change here, if you will allow me. That's what we celebrate as well during this time of year. The chance to be ourselves. To be happy fer a bit. To be free to think and and to do pretty much as we wish. The liberty to take responsibility for our own actions, words and deeds.

So was this man called Christ. He believed in such freedom. Not all were healed when he was on this Earth, not all were made rich. Not all were made comfortable or fed or clothed or anything else. We were not required to believe in him. We were never allowed to think so. He made some suggestions. Spoke to those who would listen, and moved on when they did not. Nothing was forced. Our freedom to do as we would remained. There is liberty in that Book, and in his life, to do and to think as you will.

Christmas is a celebration of this liberty. A celebration of this love.

When we forget this, we forget all that helped to make this nation great. Much that we espouse in the Declaration of Independence and in the Constitution is based upon this.

Self-determination.

This is why Christmas is special. Many around the world do not get the opportunity to spend holidays with their families, without fear, warm, comfortable, clothed, well fed. We do because of all the things I've listed and more.

Hold your family tight this year. Keep a roof over yer head, but be lavish in your affections, in your giving, in your peace!

Remember our brothers and sisters who cannot be with family this year, for they are doing what some of us once did. Keep this nation safe to believe and to do as we wish. In safety and in freedom.

Remember. We have to let the other guy celebrate his freedom as well. When we forget this, we have taken another's liberty, and replaced it with tyranny. There's no celebration of Christmas in that.

Warm up yer coffee, folks. It's a good day! Sunday! Hope ya had a chance to sleep in! LOL.

We'll get it right one of these days. Might even get it done a bit better if we're not careful! ;)

I can't figure it out. Everyone in the parade is out of step, except me. When you guys are in the Slop Shute, I'm having my morning coffee. When you guys hit Pap's Place for your morning after eye opener, I'm just getting started to rock and roll.

That's been the story of my life.

DID YOU KNOW that when the previous pope died, and, naturally went to heaven, he was escourted past the Marine sentrys at the Pearly Gates by a Marine Honor Guard?

When he was welcomed by St. Peter, he asked to meet the Blessed Mother. He asked her, "Mother Mary. I worshipped you, I prayed the Rosary every day of my adult life, I spent a lifetime learning all I could about you. I have a question."

"In every painting I have ever see of you, you always appeared o be so sad, never smiling, just sad. Why is that?"

And Mother Mary honored him with a wistful smile and said, "Because, to tell you the truth, I really wanted a GIRL".

When I went into the Marine Corp on Oct 30 l955 I became very confused. On christmas eve our DI kept talking about the true supreme being, was some guy named Chesty. For the last couple of months I thought the true supreme being was him.

Art,

The D.I. was right.

I've never read, or heard, any inconsistency concerning Chesty.

And he doesn't have or need a variety of followers giving different interpretations to his words.

And, nobody apologizes to say, "Yes, but the world is different now."

'Mornin' folks! How are ya this mornin'! Coffee's on! Ya better grab a cup. I'm wachin' news right now. Paper'll be here inna little bit. Hope ya had a good day yesterday! Ya got yer eyes open yet! LOL.

It's a new day, folks! A new week! Ya got another chance to get it right! Might even have a chance to do it better next time! LOL. Hope ya got yer week planned out! Hell, ya gota have a plan! Speakin' of plans.....

Have you folks get yer tree yet? How about those pesky lights? Ya got any up? I spent about two hours getting three strings sorted out. Made some progress finally. Two of those strings of lights have been waitin fer two years to get sorted out! LOL. Only took me three hours......I didn't have anything else to do at the time! It's cheaper to by a new string of lights anymore than it is to get bulbs for the old straings sometimes! I cannabalized one string of lights to get two workin'!

I tried that Christmas light trick with the ol lady, too. She smiled fer some reason....Dang lights were gettin hot, by the way. I wouldn't recommend it for any long term romancin'....

That's our topic fer the day. Was wonderin' how many of you folks remember the first time you helped or saw yer parents decorate fer Christmas. Where ya got the tree, carolin', presents for other folks, doin' the charity thing fer someone else. That sort of thing. School programs, church programs. Anything like that.

I remember stringin' popcorn fer Mom one year for the tree. Makin' those paper chains outta different colored paper. A string of those old lights they had back then, plus a splurge. She bought some tinsel. It was her job to put the tinsel on the tree! We had some homemade decorations on the tree. Other stuff like that around the house. A homemade Christmas. We did OK that year fer presents as well, if I remember right. Mom was no Martha Stewart, but she made do. She's still pretty clever that way now with some firty years of doin' things that way...some things I figure she might outdo Martha Stewart anymore. On the other hand....Mom ain't lookin' at a possible conviction and hard time either! ;).

Yep. Christmas memories fer the next couple of days. Nuthin' wrong with that. Christmas is also memories and nostalgia.

Warm up yer coffee, folks! Get yer eyes open a bit before ya walk out the door! Ya got a chance to think about what yer gonna do for the family this year. Do yer job, but think about creatin' some memories fer yer kids and grandkids. Think about the other feller fer a bit.

...don't forget those who are where we once were...and that other set of Christmas memories.....Most of those aren't all bad...even if some of them are pretty tacky! LOL. What the hell. we were young, too. What did we know about scroungin' Christmas decorations fer the barracks!

Yeah, but Martha Stewart is on crack too!! Anyone who has enuf time to take a jig ($38.00 at Hudson's) and crack just the freakin top of an egg to empty it's contents out - scramble them slightly.... put them BACK INTO THE SHELL - and then serve them...... IS ON CRACK!!!!!

Got our tree up this weekend. Got the 35' Spruce out front lit up too (yeah Bones, when ya come..... look for the big-ass Christmas tree on the left side of the road LMAO)
The cats seem to be less interested this year (so far). I think they're planning a flanking maneuver myself. When we're not home of course...

Back to Martha - I think the only reason she's lookin at hard time is because the House didn't want to pin anything on Enron or Worldcom - or the family they took away in handcuffs on TV awhile back.

They went after someone the american public could relate too. Someone who is 'more like you and me' - so to speak.

Our great politicians

Subject: SOCIAL SECURITY AND CONGRESS
This MUST be an issue in 2004. A

Perhaps we are asking the wrong questions during
election years. Our Senators and Congress men &
women do not pay into Social Security and, of course,
they do not collect from it.

You see, Social Security benefits were not suitable
for persons of their rare elevation in society. They
felt they should have a special plan for themselves.
So, many years ago they voted in their own benefit
plan.

In more recent years, no congressperson has felt the
need to change it. After all, it is a great plan.

For all practical purposes their plan works like this:
When they retire, they continue to draw the same pay
until they die, except it may increase from time to
time for cost of living adjustments. For example,
former Senator Byrd and Congressman White and their
wives may expect to draw $7,800,000.00 (that's Seven
Million, Eight-Hundred Thousand Dollars), with their
wives drawing $275,000.00 during the last years of
their lives. This is calculated on an average life
span for each.

Their cost for this excellent plan is $00.00. Nada.
Zilch. This little perk they voted for themselves is
free to them. You and I pick up the tab for this
plan. The funds for this fine retirement plan come
directly from the General Funds-our tax dollars at
work!

From our own Social Security Plan, which you and I pay
(or have paid) into-every payday until we retire
(which amount is matched by our employer)--we can
expect to get an average $1,000 per month after
retirement. Or, in other words, we would have to
collect our average of $1,000. monthly benefits for 68
years and one (1) month to equal Senator Bill
Bradley's benefits!

Social Security could be very good if only one small
change were made. That change would be to jerk the
Golden Fleece Retirement Plan from under the Senators
and Congressmen. Put them into the Social Security
plan with the rest of us ... then sit back and watch
how fast they would fix it.

If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of
awareness will be planted and maybe good changes will
evolve.

How many people can YOU inform about this?

I did my part

Sparrowhawk
12-09-02, 07:11 AM
Now, they will take a vote to add SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS to their CONGRESSTIONAL PAY!

You shouldn't gone and said anything...

Remember the last time they tried to help ordinary people with the obstacles of life?

'Mornin' folks! How the hell are ya! Coffee's on, grab a cup and get some! Paper'll be here directly!

Well, I got the yard raked up and cleaned out under the deck yesterday! It was 57 degrees here! I put it off, cause the snows we got over a month ago froze the leaves on the trees! LOL. Well, the leaves all came down of course! I waited fer a nice day that wasn't windy and got it done. Sometimes procrastination works pretty well. 'Course, now I got no excuse fer not puttin' up the rest of the Christmas lights.....

I remember...yeah, yeah, but what the hell, ya gotta start somewhere! I remember one winter when I was a fourteen year old kid in Illinois about this time of year, we got a helluva blizzard blow in. Well, earlier that afternoon, I decided to go for a walk in the woods. One of my siblings knew where I was goin', can't remember which one right now, but anyway, it was after lunch ( we called it dinner). It was just a little below freezin' so I got my winter duds on and went fer a walk. Had to walk over a quarter mile to get to the woods there. Got back in amongst the oaks and hickories and maple...and it was beautiful. Fresh snow from the day before. Tracks from all the critters running here and there. Racoon, deer, squirrel, that sort of thing. Snow glintin' in the sun. I got carried away by it all! Just awesome. Now I could live in those woods back then. It was no big worry to anyone for me to be out there by myself. I was something of an amatuer naturalist then. Most folks around there were and still are. I knew how to set a trap. Where to find nuts and roots and where and how to hole up in weather like that if I got hurt.

It started gettin' colder. Then colder still. I was startin' to get a little chilly. I found a clearing and looked at the sky, and yes, it was gettin' darker. By my calculations, it wasn't four o'clock yet! I figured I better head fer the house. I got back on track fer home and then I got kinda sluggish. Well, I thought I was just gettin' cold is all...til I saw this snow drift. It looked real comfortable, ya know. I was warmin' up. Gettin' tired all of a sudden. I looked up and the house was only a few hundred yards away, and somehow the woods were behind me. How'd that happen? Well, thoughts of layin' down in that drift and takin' a nap kinda worried me. I figured I was so close to the house, I just as well keep walkin' fer a bit. That snow drift was an awful temptation.

It was plumb dark out and I knew it wasn't four o'clock yet. A winter storm was blowing in.

I got home, Dad had already gone to town to get a search party to come get me. Mom was kinda anxious fer some reason. Made me strip and wrapped me in hot blankets off the stove. Put my feet in luke warm water. Felt scalding hot to me. Scolded me, but I told her the weather caught me by surprise.

We got a blizzard that night. Dropped three foot of snow on us and blew it into six foot drifts. Found out later the temp had dropped more than forty degrees between two and four o'clock PM, then warmed up the next day. I was out building igloos fer my brothers and sisters that next day. The following day, Monday, my cheeks, nose, parts of my throat and my toes started turnin' black and peelin'. Cold weather still bothers me, and my beard never has come in right. Kinda patchy. Christmas was just a few days away.

That Saturday afternoon was the first time I really looked at death. I never forgot that lesson, or the others like it I've learned over the years. As hard as it is to kill a person, sometimes it doesn't take much...and it can sneak up on you sometimes. Life is precious in it's own unique way...and incredibly fragile.

Christmas is a celebration of life.

Hold yer loved ones dear, folks. Hold them dear indeed.

Warm up yer coffee, folks! It's a new day! We got another opportunity! Another chance! Don't waste it!

We've had a total of 4.5" so far this year. Dryest year in 136 years. My pasture is a piece of brown dirt and we're looking at buying more hay to get the horses through the Summer. Forecast is for rain all this week, maybe snow, but I'm sure hoping.

I certainly enjoy the live today attitude prevailing in this little hangout. The older I get the less patience I have for time wasted. Seems like I want to just enjoy the time and stand clear of disruptive behavior. I understand that it is part of the growing up process - but I'm really enjoying the weekends with my Son hunting the elusive Coyotes. Last Sunday we were sitting in an ambush amongst some rocks. The sun broke clear and both of us thought that a nap might be in order!

Gotta love the life we have - our duty is to live fully in memory of those who cannot. Thanks all - have a superb day -

Mornin' all... been busy 'round here. Not too bad, just stuff. Got about 20 ornamental type chickens from a buddy. He can't kill 'em cuz the kids won't eat 'em. So he put 'em in boxes and I picked 'em up yesterday morning. Wife and mother-in-law spent the day bleedin' 'em out, boilin the feathers off and then guttin' 'em and getting 'em ready for the freezer. Wife had one of 'em in a soup. She said it was sweet. They'd been fed well.

Hey NamNuts... That ain't global warming... It's God lookin after them Packers... Some would say, they need all the help they can get! ;)

I hear ya on the rain, Norton, but part of the reason I moved out this way was to get away from the rain. If'n ya want rain, go to the West side of Oregon or Washington. More'n enough for everyone. Back in '92, the first 2 consecutive days without rain wasn't until the 1st week of August. I know the farmers and ranchers out here need it though. As long as it rains during my work week and not on my weekends - better yet, let it rain at night - I'm okay with it. Good luck with them dogs. I got a buddy who patrols a ranch and says he shoots 'em every now and then. I'm trying to get on with him for a couple a hunts. Got another buddy who is an avid varmit hunter. Takes it real seriously. Camos up, sent, calls - even got himself a digital call.

Seems I get you folks to thinkin' too much inna mornin' sometimes! LOL.Two times to do that kinda thinkin'. Just before ya got to bed, unless yer otherwise distracted fer the evening...and right after ya get up in the mornin', just about sunrise! Don't mean to be bringin' ya down. Just thinkin' is all! I know I don't always get it said right or in proper english or grammar, but what the hell, I figure I'll give it my best shot til someone better comes along. Hell, I sometimes don't make much of an arguement fer anything I consider here! LOL. Just thinkin' out loud....It's all extemporaneous...meanin' I say it soon's I think it! LOL. Might get me in real trouble one of these days doin' that! LOL. But I think that we cover some things here that most don't. Take a look at things both good and bad and see what kinda real meanin' we can shake outta them, if we can. Gotta solve the problems of the world sometime durin' the day don't we! LOL. Just as well be now! LOL.

I don't have all the answers at all. I just think about them. Try to turn some things on their ear and look at them from a different angle, maybe. I'm not much good at describin' the things around me as well as some. I'm not much at much of anything really, but I have some glimmering of an idea of what makes some folks tick. If I can address that, and help the other guy see things, maybe learn something the easy way, then I'm happy. If I can get someone to chuckle a bit durin' the day, or to think a bit during the day about what he's doin and why...I've accomplished a lot. My day is then full and complete. I've done something constructive. I've done a lot of 'destructing' in my time. I still have the temper to prove it! If I can help someone, even a bit, with some of these little abstract bits of thought, I've done some good inna world. Maybe I've sorted a few things out for myself as well.

Like most of you, there's some things I won't share or can't share or don't share ( I'm still waiting on the statute of limitations on some things....;)), and I've managed to ease that load for you for a bit, then I've done something constructive with my day's time.

One of the things Christmas is about...doin' what little ya can to help the other guy fer a bit. Lighten his load. Share a bit of what ya got. Give of who ya are and what ya know to be true and right and just. This is our celebration. Not the outward trappings of lights and trees and shopping, and wrapped gifts, but the inward light...the light that says we've learned something that has nothin to do with programmin' that blasted VCR or firgurin' how a DVD actually werks! LOL. And I know I got my home theater system hooked up wrong somewhere....Every time I try to figure it out, I get to cussin', so I know I haven't got it all figured out yet! I'm just thinkin' out loud is all....

Warm up yer coffee, folks! Take a bit of time and get yer day sorted out before ya get rollin'. We got another chance to get it right! We got a new opportunity to do it better this time! Go out and take that ****ing hill, and make sure they know why ya takin' it.

That's why I keep makin' coffee inna mornin'. I'm takin' that hill.

Hooter's has just opened a new place at Jacksonville, N. C.
I was spending a couple of days at Lejeune last week and we stoped in for the grand opening of the new Hooters a week ago yesterday. A day that will go down in history Dec. 3, 2002.
We also stoped in to Swanpy's to look at all the Marine Corp history displayed there. We were told that we had just missed the Sgt Major by 10 minutes. It would have been great to meet him. That was my second time there and I am still spellbound with what he has accomulated . The bar tender said that he had the place up for sale for 2.3 million dollars. I don't know if she knew what she was talking about.

Still can not get over the fact that marines aboard base are not allowed to drink till there 21.

Mornin all... Kinda forgot to mention yesterday we had a light powder of snow in the morning. It was gon by afternoon. Late in the year for gettin snow. Seems to have rained some last night and warmed up a bit. First day in a long time I didn't have to scrape ice off the windshield. Hell, other than that, ain't a whole lot goin' on. Got work today. Gonna try and get some OT this week and next. Don't much like doin' it but if I can get a few days I might be able to afford a new compuker as mine is dying.

Mornin' folks! How the hell ya doin' today! Coffee's on! You know where the cups are at! Ya better grab a cup before the rest of the gang show up! LOL. Paper'll be here directly. We can see what the news was yesterday! LOL.

Coffee time. I likes my coffee in the mornin'! Can't think at all til I've had a couple of cups anyway! Christmas thinkin'! Good things. Sometimes things we don't always want to think about, but we can handle it. We're tough! Besides, as my Dad says, "It's all in yer head." 'Course, he wasn't the one with the busted collarbone at the time, but what ya gonna do! LMAO.

Christmas....I remember one Christmas, we had the whole family...Mom's side...in the house at my Grandparents. We had a good Christmas. Grandpa hadda cut branches off the tree so all the presents would fit kinda sorta under it. I was just a kid then. Wasn't more than four or five. Opened presents Christmas eve, then woke up before the sun was up and everyone opened the rest of their presents. Folks havin' a good time all over the house. Us kids got to go play in the snow by the creek a few yards away. Snowball fights and snowmen. Big dinner, played in the house. Took naps. The good stuff. We went our separate ways over the next couple days. Just what I remember of it. Great grandma's house was across the street.

Great-Grandma's long gone. Grandma and pa later sold the house and retired. They started travelin' off and on, and became snowbirds! They went out together this last summer, 87 years old, and still travelin'! The way they wanted it, really. Mom and Dad ain't real healthy, but they're still motivatin'. They just went on a trip to Montana to visit family!

Their houses are gone now. There's a tennis court there, they flood it in the winter for skating, and where the neighbors house stood is a museum for the railroad that used to run through just a few yards away. The railroad is gone. Now there's a trail, they call it, named after a dead governor. Across the creek is a small park/playground for local kids. It even has a few hooches fer barbequein' in the shade! That little street is closed off a couple times a year for a carnival and later for one of those little affairs where everyone gets to sell the crafts and artwork they did over the winter. They got some quality stuff there, I ain't ****tin!

People are still having fun and building memories there years later. Kids are still playing in the creek, too. They even put up a few Christmas lights here and there.

Christmas. You can find the good things in a situation...if ya look for them.

Warm up yer coffee, folks! It's a new day! We got a new opportunity to get it right! One of these days, we just might figure what it's all about, won't we! ;)

Mornin Marines. Got a story for you . I'm out riding my tractor last night ,like always to make sure there 's no break in the fence and none of the cattle has gotten out, when I come apon this city slicker. Now I know he's a city slicker cause he talks and dresses funny. Any ways I can just tell he don't belong. Well hes jumpin the fence onto my property. I say "hold up there mister, just what do you think your doin?" he says hes been out duck hunting and he shot him a duck and its landed on my property. Hes just going to claim his duck. I say , hold up , if that ducks landed on my property ,then that duck belongs to me. He says if I dont let him go get that duck , he'll take me to court and sue me for everything I own , plus some. That he's some big city lawyer and even if I did win It would cost me more money then it was worth to win the case. I says no, I dont think your gonna do that , around here we play the 3 kick rule.He says 3 kick rule , whats that? Well I kick you three times , then you kick me three times. We keep doing this til the last mans standin. If its me , I keep the duck , If its you , you keep the duck. He says fair enough, I says ok ,I go first. My first kick , I get him square in the nuts, he drops to the ground like a sack of potatoes. My second one gets him square in the kidneys, and he lets out this god awful squeal, with the 3rd kick I get him in the head , it sounds like i just kicked a pumpkin with steel toed boots. This kick is so hard and direct that he almost passes out and I dont know how he doesnt. It takes him about 5 minutes but he manages to make it to his feet. He says ok motherfvcker, now its my turn. I say na thats ok you can have the duck. Today is gonna be a fine , fine day . Just now drinking my first cup , planning on my days adventures . Plan well and make the best of each and every day. Ok drink your coffee and ponder this one. I'm a bartender sometimes. Dont pay all that great but the bennies make up for it. The other night I was bartendin when this beautiful gal comes in and orders a 7 an 7. I grab a glass ,a hand full of ice and I make her a drink. I set the glass in front of her and tell her that will be 5.00. She says excuse me , but could you make me another drink , only this time use the ice tongs. She says she doesnt like to put anything in her mouth that someones had there hands on. I say sure no problem. So I grab a fresh glass , and I grab the Ice Tongs and fill her glass with ice then I make her drink. I tell her that I'm kinda like her . I dont like anyone touching anything I gotta touch or anything like that. As a matter of fact , I got this string tied to my penis so when I go to use the head all I got to do is grab that string so I dont have to touch it.Then I go down to the other end of the bar to wait on another patron. About 5 minutes go by and she calls me back down to her. She says if you reach in and grab this string so you dont have to touch your penis , how do you put it back in your pants. I tell her ,thats easy, I use the Ice Tongs. Good mornin Jarheads! Semper Fi , Do or Die , Cpl Commie says Kill A Commie For Mommy

Morning all... warmed up a bit here... heat wave even... in the mid 30's. You say yer cold, Sparrowhawk? What is it down there? 'Bout 75... 80? LOL

Last year, the holidays weren't so great around the house. My daughter, who I had never seen, had arrived to our house in mid October and these holidays that she did not celebrate were thrust upon her. She still had close ties with her grandmother (who also lives with us) who did not see the significance in the holidays - her religion does not celebrate Christmas. This year things are coming together a little better. The kid is understanding more and there's more celebrating around the house. New family - new family traditions... and some old. This year I plan to bake the goodies that I grew up with. We'll have Swedish meatballs for Christmas eve dinner (a recipe that came over with some of my great grandparents), some krumekaka (crumb cookie-the first ice cream cone), yulekaka (Chirstmas bread), fatiman (poor man cookie) and for Christmas breakfast I'll make some Finish pancake.

We should be having a great time - hope y'all have a happy one too!

Take care and Semper Fi!

Mornin' folks! How ya doin' this fine Marine Corps mornin'! LOL. Coffee's on! Come on in and grab a cup! You know where the cups are!

Christmas. Bah. Humbug. That's my normal response. Some folks like it. Some don't fer various and sundry reasons. I've always been disappointed myself. I figure I expect too much fer gimmes and too much from others this time of year. I do like the idea, though. There's always hope folks'll get their heads outta their butts one of these days...

Like I said before, lights and trees and gifts and such are good, but they ain't all there is to it. Now don't get me wrong. I been down the road some. I know how people can be, both good and bad. I know how life can be. I like that sayin' I've heard lately. Sometimes yer the windshield and sometimes yer the bug. Lots of folks haven't had the pleasure of bein' the bug is all. Hell, we always act surprised when it's our turn. Good things and bad come at ya durin' the year. If yer lucky, ya had mostly good things comin' yer way. Christmas can be a delight though. It surely can.

I like drivin' around and lookin' at the lights folks put up fer decoration about this time of year. I like the looks on kid's faces at different times durin' this part of the year. Got the Ol Lady some cheap diamonds last year. It was all she got, but she was happy. Look on her face was worth it. She wore them to bed with her every night fer quite awhile there.

Other folks didn't get that much, I'm sure. There's more of them out there than you might think. Folks whose whole life is a struggle from one day to the next, one week to the next...one year to the next. Fer some of you, they're the bugs on yer windshields. Ya might pay attention, cause one of these days you'll be the bug on someone else's! ;) Remember what it's like. Make sure ya do somethin' fer someone else this year. Sometimes the look on their face will be worth it...

Warm up yer cup folks! Saturday's nearly here. We got another chance to get it right, maybe. Might even do it better this time. Every day is an opportunity to get it right next time!

Don't ferget...we got brothers and sisters a long way from home doin' their jobs...makin' sure we have the chance to sit and have a happy holiday with our own families. Tip one fer them if ya can't do nuthin' else!

Busy day today, wife and i have been in charge of the food distribution in our communities for gee I don't remember when, probably since before Santa Claus came along, so it's gona be a busy day for us today.

at 4:00 we gather at the school gym with the Band kids that come in to help and we sort through all the donated canned food, seperating them into differnt table, corn, peans, meat products, tuna, carrots etc. all get their own seperate table, etc, etc.

We'll be out of there by midnight, clothing and toys are piled roof high.

Saturday morning the people come in, over 300-400 families to get their two-three bags of food, clothing, toys, etc.

Like Bones said, some become greedy (bad), others why, seeing the broad grin on a kids face to have food in his belly iand a toy at the same time is a great reward.

So for the next two days we're busy, then afterwards, my wife and I go out to dinner and a movie to relax, and enjoy life and be grateful for what we do have.

Mornin' folks! How the hell are ya! Coffee's on, come on in and grab a cup! Paper'll be here in a bit. You know where the cups are!

Christmas. Bah. Humbug. lol. It's just another day really. Ya got an excuse to overeat maybe. Act like a little kid fer a bit. A chance to relax and enjoy yerself fer a bit. Maybe visit with family or watch a game on TV later on. Don't ferget the kids'll be wantin' to watch those parades after they open their presents. Christmas Eve is ten days away now! Hope ya got your shoppin' done and yer decorations up by now. Is there anything you fergot? Just wonderin'. Don't want to see ya doin' all that last minute runnin' around unless that's one of yer traditions, ya know! LOL.

Now I don't have too many, if any at all, Christmas traditions myself. Some folks do. Good for them. It's all what works for you in stuff like that.

Fer me, I don't really believe in Christmas as it's traditionally celebrated. I go along with folks, and I know that the memories of this time of year are important and mean much in our lives. It really goes back to that one man eatin' meat and the other eatin' veggies thing. One thing fer one feller don't necessarliy werk fer another. Religious freedom provided for in the new version of the Book. ( That's the New Testament fer you folks that don't read much[See Romans 14 I believe]).

Myself, I figure it don't really matter except as symbolism so that it get's thru our thick heads what it's all about anyway. The symbolism in the feasts of Isreal mean more than the 'traditional' holidays fer spiritual meaning and symbolism.

One man eats meat, and another eats veggies......

You can have yer veggies...or yer meat...or whichever one you figure yer eatin'....long as you don't ferget the real meaning of what this holiday is supposed to be about.

Now it hasn't been my intention to get all religious the last few days, but it would seem that in order to celebrate Chrismas in any fashion is to acknowledge the spirtual significance of certain events. Primary being one Man's birthday some 1969 years ago.
To not aknowledge this is to lead me to ask you, "Why celebrate Christmas at all if you don't acknowledge that one event?" Where's the sense in celebratin' somethin' you don't believe in? Kinda like celebratin' the Fourth of July without believein' in Liberty or Freedom. It would seem that those whom we acknowledge on the Fourth of July as havin' originally procured our own freedom did so under the impression that a real Man was once born on Christmas, and that his Daddy was some form of higher spiritual power.

So we have two hoildays we celebrate here, both based on freedom and a Book of spiritual knowledge and wisdom that espouses freedom. Freedom from enemies. Freedom from oppression. Freedom to celebrate. Freedom to become who we will.

There is love in freedom. Christmas is a celebration of that love. Share it with yer familes. Share it with others. Believe. Or why celebrate at all? ;)

Warm up yer coffee, folks! It's a good day. We got another chance to get it right. One of these days, maybe we'll get it all sorted out enough we do it right the first time around! LOL. It's a new day. A new opportunity! Of course it's Saturday, so I reckon some things can be put off fer a bit.;) LOL.

Hey,

You guys talking about Sturgis reminded me of something.

1995, "retireds w/RV" working @ Yellowstone Park. Motorcyle caravans coming through, on their way to Sturgis.

For many, motorcylists meant, "The Wild One" or Hells Angels, or "head for the hills".

Comments I heard, about cyclists stopping off were all positive, all amazement. Stockbrokers, doctors. lawyers, electricians, carpenters, plumbers, computer techs, etc. all heading to Sturgis.

On a day off. we were going from here to there, stopped off to gas up, there was a logbook/sign-in book for Harley owners.

I didn't qualify to sign in, but I read it, and was amazed.

"First Harley was a xx, then an xxx, now an xxxx. Been driving Harleys since ( 50 years)." The page was loaded with comments like that.

I could never understand why they didn't use those log-books as a basis for their advertising and tv ads.

You will get even more unsolicited email and crap than you do already. It writes itself all over your hard drive and into every Microsoft application and program. GOT IT? In other words.... you'll never get rid of it. BEWARE.

So.......... have a nice Sunday. I'll be watchin the Lions get the snot pounded outta them by Tampa Bay, until the pain gets too hard to watch.

Morning

Now you tell me, BarnDog

Heck I was a wondering how come all those new type of emails were now showing up.

And having a date for restoring before adding that feature does not help it at all. It seems like Microsoft left the window open for it to be able to mingle with our systems but others quickly found it and invited their freinds..

bah Humbug....

‘Mornin’ folks! How the hell are ya! Coffee’s on! Ya better grab a cup! Paper’ll be here directly.

Got something’ for ya. What? LOL. Don’t ya trust me? How about a Christmas song or two? LOL. Hell, you never heard me sing did ya! LOL.

LET IT SNOW
Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne

Oh, the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since we've no place to go
Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!
It doesn't show signs of stopping
And I brought some corn for popping
The lights are turned way down low
Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!
When we finally kiss goodnight
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But if you'll really hold me tight
All the way home I'll be warm
The fire is slowly dying
And, my dear, we're still goodbye-ing
But as long as you love me so
Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!

I figured I better put the copy right in there so you wouldn’t go off and try to do yer own Christmas album without payin’ fer the privilege first! ;)

Don’t get any ideas! Kinda funny how one of the best know Christmas songs is also a love song ain’t it!

One of these days we’ll figure it all out. Then we’ll have a chance to get it right. Hell, we might even do it better next time! It’s a new day folks. Hell, it’s Sunday. Go to church. Sleep in. Hug the ol’ lady and kids and tell ‘em you love ‘em. If yer doin’ without that way, it ain’t much satisfaction sometimes. Sometimes it’s short shrift at best, but that’s what ya did it for. So that others might have the chance to spend some time with their families durin’ the holidays. Be happy fer them, ‘cause that’s what ya did it for. That’s what ya did it for. So that others might have a chance at freedom to have some passing chance at happiness without having to worry about their safety in the process. They’re responsible fer burnin’ down their own damn Christmas trees, though! They’re free to do that, if they want, too! ;)

Warm up yer coffee folks. It’s a good day. I get the comics!

Good mornin yourself , I don't know why I think up all this weird sh*t . Maybe Its lack of sleep. I always feel like Its my turn for fire watch. I got caught once sleeping on fire watch. Friday was my girlfriends birthday , so one of the presents I got her was a cell phone. Well today she goes shopping and shes gone for a couple hours. I decide to call her and see if her phone works and if she likes it. She answers and is really excited because I'm her first call. I was driving this truck one day and I stop for a red light. Theres a knock on my window so I roll the window down. Outside is this woman , she says ,hi , my name is Michelle and your loosing part of your load. I ignore her , the light turns green and off I go. I get to the next red light and theres a knock on my window, once again. I roll down my window and this same girl says , hi , my name is Michelle and your loosing part of your load. Just like she had never seen me before. Again I ignore her. This time when the light turns green , I haul butt to the next light. It turns red and I hop out of my truck , I run back to her car , and I make it just about the time she comes to a stop. I knock on her window. She rolls it down and I say , Hi my name is Earle , we are in New York in the middle of a snowstorm and Im driving the salt truck. Yea , she was blonde too. Cpl Commie:rambo:

So I'm full of sh*t most of the time , but I just like to keep a smile pasted on friends faces. This is a pretty funny story , but this one is true. I got this buddy , he was in the Navy , but hey I don't hold that against him. And for the most part he's a stand up motherfvcker. His ole lady (notice I didn't say old) was my apartment manager , he was the maintanence man. I turned him on to Harleys (he was riding Suzuki) ,told him riding a Jap bike was like fvcking a queer. It feels good til someone sees ya. Anyways Dave has a son , at the time of this story ,his son was 15-16 , somewheres in there. So Dave , his son Mike , the neighbor , his name was Dave also , (good Friend) and myself were all sitting around shooting the bull . Somewhere along the line we got talking about jackin off. So I tell Mikie sh*t like you dont have to worry about takin her home to mom , moms already seen her , she never has a headache , she never says no , shes tight , and we went on and on fvckin with this kid , well me bein a Marine and Dave bein in the Navy we fvcked with him for quite awhile. Then I tell him , just do like I do and shoot yer load in your sock and throw it under your bed. Well we all had a laugh and the kid took it pretty good. A couple months go by and the kids mother calls Dave. Told Dave he needs to have a talk with Mikie about sex. Dave says what the h*ll for , what can I possible tell him that he aint learned in school or from his buddies. She says , well the other day I was cleaning his room and I moved his bed , found all these socks under the bed. Dave says that Fvcking Earle, she says , whats he got to do with it? He says never mind , I'll have a talk with him. So he calls me over and tells me the story , Me I laugh my *ss off. So I tell Dave , we need to get Neighbor Dave , Navy Dave , Mikie , and myself together , rent a porno ,then send all the women out shopping. Now before we plug in the porno , we all look at Mikie , then ask , is every body ready and pull out our socks from our back pocket. Then Navy Daves new wife Tammi wants to know what to get mike for christmas. I tell her to make him a quilt with 365 socks. After the years up ,he can flip it over and use the other side. TRUE STORY. This just in
YOKOSUKA, Japan -- A high-tech Japanese warship has left for the Indian Ocean, a move some analysts say could signal support for a possible U.S.-led attack on Iraq.

The 7,250-tonne Kirishima, equipped with a high-tech Aegis missile detection system, left its home base of Yokosuka, southwest of Tokyo, on Monday, with riot police lining the shore.

Never thought I would see this happening.

Geting back to the donuts:

I complained about a hair in my hamburger. They took me back to the kichen. I watched the cook reach into a vat of ground beef, roll a handfull into a ball, shove it up into his armpit, bring his elbow down, and produce a perfectly round hamburger patty.

When I commented on it, I was told to wait, and watch how he made the holes in donuts.

Ok who drank the last cup , and didnt make a fresh pot? You heard the old saying , he who hits it goes and gets it. Well make a fresh pot , before I find something wrong with it. Reminds me of the hidden video shows , where there was this guy going into work each morning and after he punches in he pours himself a cup of coffee. Well the coffee taste a little funny and he thinks one of his co-workers is doing something to the coffee. So he gets a cam corder and points it at the coffee pot. Lo and behold they catch this bung wipe p*ssing in the coffee pot. And they got it on tape. I dont know what you guys would do , but I would give him a blanket party. Probably worse than that , but I would make it his choice. Suggest a few options from the rest of the employees affected by his actions. I bet they could come up with some good ones, let him pick his poisin , and record the event. Then show his boss the tape of him p*ssing in the coffee pot and let sh*t happen. Nice rainstorm came by last night. I've always enjoyed the rain, keeps me indoors and working.

Not that I work much now, since retirement, to me everyday is Saturday.

Will be taking daughter to the train station in a few minutes, our daily trip.

Across the street there is a full moon hanging over the red haired lady's home who will leave for work in about twenty minutes, she's regular as clockwork.

Then at the corner house the guy that owns a 67 VW bug, will start it up, let it warm a bit and I always hear the sound of its motor as it makes its way up the street.

Then a few minutes later my neighbor Dave will pull out his truck, pick up the newspaper, toss it into his garage, and off he'll go. He'll tap his horn as he passes my house.

It's all a daily routine, me? Well, I'll be standing there drinking y fresh cup of coffee looking at he sky and smelling the fresh morning air, listening to sounds of silence in the morning, and if that old black and white cat comes around to do his business in my back yard, I have my pellet gun in hand to tap him a bit.

You all have a Marine Corps day, and as Bones would say, maybe we'll all get it right this time.

Mornin' folks! Blasted server was down fer maintenance! I called and complained. Told them I had an intenational audience here! Told them next time they need to let me know when they're workin' on their equipment! I see you fellers got coffee goin'! LOL. I knew you could do it if ya hadda.....

I don't have much this mornin', myself. It's 34 here. Gonna hit fifty again I reckon. Yep. It gets cold in the Dakotas....can't hardly stand it!

I keep thinkin' of Christmas songs fer some reason. I'm not much fer Christmas, myself. Just another day in the neighborhood to me, really. Well, I worked too many Christmas' and holidays over the years for it to matter much to me to begin with. A number of years ago, I got to thinkin' about it and wondered why we just acted good during a few days or weeks of the year when we oughta be doin' it that way alla time. So, Christmas is an alla time thing with me... as much as possible fer anyone who ain't perfect that is. I don't like all the rimmings, though. Lights and trees and such. A lot of work that could be put to other uses. Not that I'm lazy or anything about that kinda stuff. LOL...Ya give someone what they need if you got it extra. Ya help the next person out when ya can, if ya can. Buy the Ol Lady and family gifts just because. Not just fer holidays and birthdays and such. Try to treat the other person kinda like you wanta be treated. You know. All that sort of thing. I ain't got it quite right yet, but I'm workin' on it.

But this year, I got them blasted Christmas songs in my head and they won't leave me alone fer some reason. I always did like some of those songs anyway. Good music, well written, and if ya got someone who can sing, they ain't bad at all. Some folks who couldn't carry a tune in a big bucket are fun to listen to as well, as long as they be singin' like they mean it! Makes it kinda fun, sometimes.

Yep, Christmas ain't too bad, if ya doin' fer the right reasons, that is.....

Warm up yer cup. folks. It's still mornin'...at least where I', at. Hell, coffee's always on here anyway.

We'll get it sorted out one of these days. Might even get it done a bit better next time, won't we? It's a new day, folks. A new chance. A new opportunity. Take advantage of it.

Bones I hope ya know I'm yankin yer chain. Only because I can, and do - as often as possible. That's so it helps ya keep yer balance. I'd expect you do the same, but I ain't seen much yet.... Is it because theres too much a$$ to move? lmao - reminds me of one mid-day a couple weeks ago when Rat and I were PM'ing Bones - tryin to badger him into chat..... he finally came in - and sezs "which one of ya wants yer a$$ kicked first" .. - I had to step up and tell him my Dad told me "if a Marine ever asks you to fight, you better not decline" - in which I wouldn't. Only because my Dad told me not too.
His standard - my Fathers that is, being the Marine standard of which I am expected to carry. Korea. And believe me, if I get out of line - I get corrected. But, the same goes for him - if he gets out of line, I correct him. That's our relationship. We enjoy that about ourselves. Marbe too much sometimes.

This is a tough one.

Man, I dunno..... ya'd think at 71 he would have learned by now of taking his ex-old lady's back. Hell I don't wanna see him alone either, but theres a point where ya just gotta say ENOUGH. How do ya say anything after you figure you've said it all already? One time we came to blows - he pi$$ed me off and goaded me into takin 'my best shot' (as he called it - I broke his jaw). He laughed, got up and knocked me colder than a mackerel. That was enough of those lessons, we agreed. Stubborn does not fit this old Jarhead.
He has his own definition.

Any suggestions?

A man makes his own decisions. All you can do is all you can do. After that, ya just have to stand back and let him take the hit and the responsibility for it. It's hard to watch, I know. Life is. I don't know what else to bring up about Christmas right at the moment. I got one or two things in mind here for Christmas Eve, though.

It's about family. Ya don't have any blood relatives around, ya might think about swinging by the VA hospital and the 'doms'. Those folks might be a little 'out there', but who ain't. They're still brothers. Just lonely is all. Some of ya got the old folks homes in the local VA hospital. Stop by and say howdy when ya go by. Ya might call ahead and let them know yer comin'. We got a few bros hangin' at the local shelters. If ya find it in ya, drop by there as well. Let's not leave anyone behind.

Tony, I'm here for ya, brother. It ain't easy watchin' folks screw it up.

My first experience with someone like that was years ago when I was a little kid. WWI Vet on one side as a neighbor, WWII Vet on the other side, then Dad was a Korean War Vet. Have a couple cousins who are Viet Nam Vets.

I remember that WWI Vet. Nice guy to us kids. Always put up with us unless we got to screwin' around in his garden. He was about seventy -odd. Lived in a one room concrete block shack. Folks always made fun of him. Mom didn't. Dad would, but he'd do anything for the old guy.

He was drunk most of the time. Some said he'd been drunk pretty steady since the war. Worked on the railroad til he retired. One day, he got himself a girlfriend. She was near his age. They both drank, but they seemed comfortable with one another. I don't remember them arguin' much. "Tuck" Haddix kept his area squared away fer the most part. Last I heard of him he had died in a VA old folks home at the age of 99. He was 96 or 97 before he had to go there, if I remember right. He didn't have much, but it was his. Wasn't anyone who could tell him how to act at any point that I remember. Seems that was the one thing that would really set him off.

WWI combat Veteran. He'd seen the beast. He dealt with it as best he could. His girlfriend did him some good that I remember.

He was always a bit less irritable when she was around. People didn't like them "livin' together". Small town in the sixties, that wasn't acceptable behaviour. She cost him money as well, not that he had a lot to start with.

Mom and Dad always looked out fer him around Christmas and Thanksgiving. He wouldn't eat at our table much, but Mom always took him somethin' later. Mom and Dad watched over him like he was family. Let him do as he liked whether they thought it was good for him or not. They didn't have much choice.

I never will forget Tuck. Other people made fun of him, but I thought he was a nice old man.Wasn't til years later that I began to get a bit of an idea of what he mighta gone thru when he was a young man.

Sometimes it's good to have neighbors. Sometimes it's good to be a neighbor...especially this time of year.

It's hump day folks.Middle of the week and half way from here to Christmas Day! Hope yer ready for it!

We got a chance to get it right this year! Might even do it better if we ain't careful!.

Warm up yer cups, folks! It's a new day! Sit a spell and get yer head together before ya get started, would ya!

Paper's gonna be here in a bit, in the meantime make yerselves comfy and cop a squat somewhere! Yeah, I know, but what the hell! I was tryin' to be nice! LOL.

Seven days til Christmas. What was on yer Christmas wish list this year, anyway? I didn't have but the usual on mine. Win the lottery. Be surrounded by beautiful wimmin, drink good scotch. Live in a compound somewhere in Idaho... the usual stuff, ya know! Well hell, I coulda said peace on earth or somethin' like that! LOL>

Things we all aspire to. Wealth. Comfort. Beauty. Security. Some amount of peace, internal and otherwise. They are just things. Something that we all hope for to some extent or another. The avowed goals of many. The true aspirations of a few. A journey, if you will, towards righteousness. A righteousness that few understand, having nothing to do with externalizations, but the internal means of growth. A righteousness that has at it's heart, the good of our brothers. A goal we may fail in the procurement thereof, but none-the-less a journey worth taking. A journey in which we learn of many things, some frightful and some glorious. Sights and sounds and visions of human glory that will never leave us, nor leave us alone. The journey, with it's losses, gives us much that we would not otherwise know or even become aware of. Keep your eyes open. be aware. Know that the purpose of all things is for us to learn and to grow. Set-backs are a part of the journey and the growth that is to be expected in all of us. The journey is waht is important and how we conduct ourselves upon it's path. We fail, but in the faliure, we learn. We hurt, but in the pain we grow. Somewhere along the way, we are helped and assisted by others. Somewhere along the way, we help and assist others. Sooner or larter we find the peace we sought. Sooner or later we find the wealth, though it is not always what we thought it was. Sooner or later, we see the beauty in others, though it is not always the outward beauty of that which the world would have us copy and hope to find or to become.

This is Christmas. When we learn...when we find it truly, we live it every day of every year. Wealth that can help others along their troubled way. Beauty in the heart of another, no matter their outward features or circumstance. Wisdom and peace from our own journey, that can be shared and distributed freely with others, for though it has cost us dearly, it can never be exhausted by sharing. The peace that comes from knowing, the journey is not over with yet, and will never truly be over, and the knowledge that is gained has no cost that cannot be born.

Well, I suppose that's enough of that fer one day! That might be some thinkin' worth lookin' at a little harder one of these days, but I figger it'll do for now. That kinda got away from me, but life is, ya know... ;)

Warm up yer coffee folks! It's early yet! Get yer day sorted out before ya head out the door. Set a spell and make sure yer eyes are open, would ya! We got another chance to get it right. Might even get it better than we did before if we ain't careful! Hell, it's a new day! A new opportunity! Take advantage of it!

Morning all... Yeah, been a while since I've been in here. Sorry about that. I see yer on the right track with yer 'wants' bones... I'm there too... I'm surrounded by the beautiful womens, I'm still workin on the lotto and when I win it (yes when, as you gots to think possitive) I'll have that compound in Idaho. Pretty much already got the area selected.
Here's what I've been doin to keep me from this wonderful site. Been a busy week last week with a little over-time thrown in.. Sunday we slept and missed church. Monday we went up into the hills with a friend and his family to go Christmas tree hunting. Way the hell up into the hills, past Idaho city. All I know is, we were just the west side of cresting the hill to go to Lowman. It was fun, there was snow and the kids had a great time slidin and sleddin in it and makin snowmen. My buddy and I started trekking up the hill to find a couple good trees. The more we waded in the thigh deep snow the better the trees close to us looked! We cut a couple of 'em and headed back down the hill. Snow started fallin pretty good so we decided not to have our lunch till we got back home. Good thing a ranger type came up over the hill, needed his help with my buddy to shove my van out of the snow. I was pretty well stuck for a while. The damn rig just didn't wanna trun around. The wife is on my side for getting a 4X4 Suburban for the family rig now. We got back down safely and had a good meal at his house, got home around 2000 (8:00 PM for those that forgot) and the wife, MIL and oldest trimmed the tree. Tuesday, my oldest had a Christmas padgent going on and it was very good. Fun watching the kids do things like that. Afterwards I took my wife and daughter to dinner. A Chinese buffet that recently openned and that they wanted to try out. Well, turns out we got food poisoning from 'em. I'm still hurtin. Figure it was the chicken. Hope y'all have a better day than I will. I've still got a bit of the green apple quick stomp.

Take care, all.. Semper Fi!

'Mornin'folks! How the hell are ya! Coffee's on! Grab yerself a cup and cop a squat somewhere! Paper'll be here directly...maybe! Got a new paperboy...we'll see. I'm thinkin' about surprisin' him one of these days......I can't move as quick as I used to, so I'll just have to out-think him, I guess....It's a little twisted, I know! But I do have a rep fer that. I'm kinda proud of that rep, bein' 6'6" ya wouldn't figure I'd be able to sneak up on people the way I do. I do it by accident sometimes, then when they *****, I tell them, "Just think if I'd been tryin' to scare ya!" They get this weird look on their face. LOL. The ol lady *****es when I do that to folks, but she smiles, too. I like bein' able to appear outta nowhere and surprisin' folks! Like I say, ya gotta keep the bastards guessin'! Thing is, ya just gotta think ahead, is all. I've lost my edge, but I still get to surprise people now and then.

Thinkin' ahead.

What a concept. We're gonna have quite a few Marines overseas this year. I'd say a few more than normal. Merry Christmas to you folks! And to your families as well.

Thinkin' ahead.

Might be worth considerin' to figure how ya can help some of those folks when they get back. Maybe get their families ready for some changes in some of those brothers. Might make their next Christmas a bit better. Seems the U.S. might get it's way here with Iraq. Looks like it'll be a bit more than a few pilots gettin' some SAMs fired at them.

Think ahead.

If the paper boy's thinkin' ahead, I wouldn't scare him much, would I? Of course, if I'm thinkin' ahead, he might deliver my paper on time just to avoid me hoppin' up outta nowhere.....

I wonder if there's anything we can do at this late date to maybe make things a bit easier on folks fer next year.

Just ramblin' this mornin' Not much to say, really. I figure Tony or Rat'll or the First Sergeant or someone'll be along after bit and get me straightened out. LOL. It's always good to hear what you folks got to say. It gets me to thinkin'.....

Warm up yer coffee folks! It's a new day! Another day closer to Christmas. Another day to figure how ya gonna do fer someone else. Maybe make their Christmas a bit better. Ya don't want nothin' sneakin' up on ya!

We got another chance to get it right! Another chance to do it better maybe! New opportunities in a new day! Make sure ya take advantage of them!

Bones you got it right now. Lets's hope that it will be over with by next Christmas at least the fighting.

Check this site out. The FBI looking after us.

Coffee's good. Company's good but it has to be with maries talking to marines.

Yeah..... out think the paper boy.. Warren, if ya need a hand with that....... Brother - yer in sad shape. I don't know if it's worthy of sending out a SAR for ya. Maybe for yer Jack Daniels. Course I'm not the Command decision making kinda guy. I leave that to You Rank Fellas.

I'm outta here. No truck for a few daze as we pulled the box off last nite and cut the side off to replace it tonite, and start prepping for the paint.
Yippiee. Nice thing havin a neighbor who does body work. I'm gettin the whole box painted - the insurance claim was to paint the one side that got hit. He needs some porch work.
I like scratching backs in return.

Morning all... I'm feeling A LOT better... Something for y'all to remember.. don't eat half cooked chicken. Well, looks like this is a two day work week with a 3 day weekend, gotta work Christmas Day because I was short 15 minutes of vacation time (due to going to see my grandfather when my uncle died) so I had to turn in my 1 week block. So I requested individual days off. I was denied the 25th but got the rest. So after working the 25th I'll be off until the 2nd of Jan. Not too bad, I get paid my regular pay plus time and a half for just showing up on Christmas Day. Wife says I can have a new compuker. They've got one hell of deal at WalMart and I just can't resist. I've worked enough over time to pay for just over half of it, so we'll put it on the card and I'll see how much more OT I can get, shouldn't be too hard in the next month to get at least 2 more days.

Straighten you out, Bones? Ahhhh, where do you keep them 2X4's? LOL.. no, the long ones. I don't want any shorter than yer reach. And don't worry about me, I can run faster scared than you can mad. LOL

Good on ya there, Barndog, the barter system is always best when you can use it. I know the government don't like it, they can't tax it - but it's good for us normal folks. Got a buddy who's gonna do some work on the wife's rig - charges half the going rate and is a certified mechanic. I'll rest a lot easier knowing she's riding in a road worthy rig - especially with the kids.

Y'all have a great day and I'll catch ya later...

'Mornin' folks! Have some coffee! Y'all know where the cups are! Help yerself! Paper'll be along in a bit. Grab a sit and relax fer a bit. Day ain't started yet! Hell, it's Saturday! Hope ya slept in and and got a chance to laze around with the ol' lady fer a bit.

Christmas! Four more days ain't it? Ya got any last minute shoppin' to do? Better get 'er done! LOL.

Life is funny ain't it. One of the times when we're supposed to be havin' a bit of fun and relaxin' a bit and some folks put off things til the last minute. Now I know some don't have much choice. livin' pay day to pay day, but some folks.....LOL. Folks like me! I waited til the last minute last year and got the ol lady some nice stuff. Waited til the last minute. LOL. Went broke doin' it. She didn't get much, but she didn't mind......

Well, long as we don't ferget what it's all about to start with. The Ol Lady and I have our problems, and they are varied and many, but one thing we don't have any trouble over. When someone needs somethin' and we got it, we do what we can for them. We've shorted ourselves once or twice. Went trout fishin' once years ago. The only real vacation I've ever had. Came back after a week with twenty-three pounds of filets. Three days later we didn't have any fish in the house. The thing is.....we gave it all away! Wasn't watchin' close and didn't keep any fer myself! LMAO! That's probably not a habit ya wanta get into! LOL.

One of the ways I try to remember Christmas year around. When someone has need and I have it in my hand to meet that need, I do what I can. I recognise that some folks can only be helped so much. Others don't wanta be helped. Some will bleed ya dry because they need more than any man can help them with. They've gotta learn to have some of their needs met in other ways than what can be provided by material goods. Ya do what ya can, but with some wisdom. Wisdom is not an avoidance of responsibility for the next feller. but an acknowledgement that we do have some responsibility for our fellowman within the limits of our ability to help him. If nuthin' else, ya help him to figure out how to keep a roof over his own head and food in his own belly and clothes on his own back.

If nothin' else ya know where the money and material goods went. There's no question of how much was used fer administrative purposes.....

Helpin' people is a big responsibility. It can get ya in over yer head if ya don't know what yer doin'. We won't even talk about "counseling" someone who's in dire straights! Once ya go there and make that commitment, yer lookin' at a few years of time ya gotta invest.

If ya read that kinda stuff...look in the Book at First John chapter three, specifically verses fourteen to twenty- four. They don't preach this much in most churches fer some reason.

Ya know I don't go there too much, but it's Christmas and this is all a part of Christmas, whether we like it or not. I just wanta make sure ya know what yer celebratin' and why.

Of course, if we wanta ferget these things....why else become so upset when folks holler about the Pledge of Allegiance, Constitutional rights or any thing else like that? Why do the God, Country, Corps thing at all?

It's all a part of who we are, whether we say so, accept it or not.

Startin' to run away with myself here! LOL.

It's a new day, folks. A new opportunity to get it right. Hell, we might even do it better if we're payin' attention!

Warm up yer coffee, folks! Give the ol lady a hug and let her know ya love her! Get rested up. Monday's comin'! LOL.;)

Morning all... I'm up way too late but oh well.. If Bones can do it, so can I... after all, he's old. LOL

Well, it's my Friday. Sunday we got church (don't plan on sleepin in this time), drop of a rig to be worked on and pick up my new compuker... gonna be a hell of a toss-up to see what I do most of... play with my new toy or watch football on a rare Sunday off... Think football will win out unless they are lame games. Probably will need to get some of that last minute shopping Bones was talking about done as well. Might even work on getting some of them Christmas goodies made up. That may be the priority that wins over all of 'em. LOL Ya ever try to teach a Filipina to cook Scandahoovian food? Don't. LOL

I can't teach a Filipina to cook FILIPINO food. Six years, I buy rice 50 kilos to the sack. I've NEVER had rice that tasted the same two days in a row.

To me, Filipinas are like Mexicans. They screw up their national food. You don't believe me?

Have you EVER had fried beans?

No. They have to go back and do it again.

*belches out the Christmas feedbag hehad earlier* I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!
Now, I know you guys (and maybe some gals) have typical stuff in mind for a Christmas gift. I mean, we exchanged gifts every year via a list of names in a hat, followed by the 'wish list' - not to exceed X amount of $$.
Well, when we got married - we upgraded our kitcken: ie pots n pans, dinnerware, silverware, etc etc. Got some really sweet cutlery - the good stuff. I think my Chef's knife weighs about 5 pounds - balanced perfectly - and it was like $130. I was amazed I got the damm thing when we got married in truth. The ONLY knife I didn't get was a Cheese Plane. For those of you who don't know what a cheese plane is.... it's specifically designed to cut all types of cheeses in block form. A finely serrated edge on one side, the back side of that is razpr sharp - so as not to crumble the softer cheese varieties. In the middle - theres the slicer - in which to slice wedges from. All of which is firmly implanted with a nice thick, well balanced heel and stout grip, and plastic sheath.

Merry Christmas to me. See, I ain't hard to please. Stop by after coffee at Bone's. I'll whip up a fondue.

'Mornin' Folks! How the hell are ya! Coffee's on! Ya better get a cup! Paper'll be here shortly!

Christmas.

Ya tired of me spoutin off about it yet? LOL.This is Sunday! Only three more days!

Matthew1:18

Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit; and her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as he considered this, behold, an angel of the lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary your wife, for that which is concieved in her is of the Holy Spirit; she will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins." All this took place to fulfill what the lord had spoken by the prophet:
"Behold, a virgin shall concieve and bear a son, and his name shall be called Emmanuel (which means, God with us). When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him; He knew her not until she had born a son; and he called his name Jesus.

(Revised Standard Version)

Miracles can happen folks. Ya just gotta believe.

Warm up yer coffee, folks. Set a spell. Relax fer a bit. Plan yer day out. It's a new day! It's a new opportunity! We might get it right one of these days! LOL. Hell, we might even do it better next time! ;) Ya just gotta believe!

'Mornin' folks! Coffee's on! Ya better grab some! Paper'll be here in a little bit!

Kinda scared ya off yesterday didn't I! LOL. Well, I might not make much sense sometimes, but ya know yer inna deep end of the pool when ya hang around me! LOL....what's that smell, anyway.....:D

Two more days til Christmas! I think I'll get the ol lady a pen and pencil set fer her new job. It'll have to do! Hell, I got her diamonds last year. No, I ain't done my shoppin' yet. That's a worse chore than diggin a new hole fer the ****ter to me. It's at least a toss up, anway!

Now, personally, I don't like holidays. I don't like celebratin' 'em. I do like eatin' the food, though! But if that's what other folks want to do, that's fine with me! It's their house, and I try to stay out of that if I can. I put up with it fer the ol lady's sake. Hell, it ain't worth the fussin' and feudin'. I'd rather do fer folks all year long if I can. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Yer better off celebratin' all year round than just a few days a year. Doin' what ya can fer other folks is what it's all about anyway. Well, when ya boil it down. Occam's razor is what it's called. I've cut myself on that one a time or two! Ya gotta be careful how ya apply it. I think I've it used properly in this case. Maybe! LOL.

Christmas trees, lights, reindeer, Frosty and all the rest are not what it's all about, as much fun as they are to play with! It's about rememberin' a gift given by God: who grew up to become a man, who died and rose again..for us.

This is why I say that any Marine who leaves us to go guard heaven's gates will certainly be waitin for us when we get there. We've sacrificed for others, unselfishly, as He did before us.

This is our celebration. And there is great joy in it, however we may feel about matters here and now.

God, Country, Corps.

Warm up yer coffee folks. When I get it all figured out, I'll let you know. In the meantime, we'll get it right sooner or later. Might even do it better one of these days! After all, it's a new day! A new opportunity! Go out and take advantage of it!

'Mornin' folks! Coffee's up! It's Christmas Eve! Grab yerself a cup and find a squat somewhere! Paper'll be here directly!

I ain't got nothin' to say after I got this in a email from that retired squid I visit with online now and then. He usually sends me some of the funniest jokes! LOL. Well, I think they're funny! LOL.This time he sent me a story. I don't know or care if it's true or not, but fer me, it epitomizes Christmas.

It's a good read.

An 1881 Christmas.

My Most Favorite Christmas Ever

Pa never had much compassion for the lazy or those who squandered their means and then never had enough for the necessities. But for those who were genuinely in need, his heart was as big as all outdoors. It was from him that I learned the greatest joy in life comes from giving, not from receiving.

It was Christmas Eve 1881. I was fifteen years old and feeling like the world had caved in on me because there just hadn't been enough money to buy me the rifle that I'd wanted for Christmas. We did the chores early that night for some reason. I just figured Pa wanted a little extra timeso we could read in the Bible.

After supper was over I took my boots off and stretched out in front ofthe fireplace and waited for Pa to get down the old Bible. I was stillfeeling sorry for myself and, to be honest, I wasn't in much of a mood to read Scriptures. But Pa didn't get the Bible, instead he bundled up again and went outside. I couldn't figure it out because we had already done all the chores. I didn't worry about it long though, I was too busy wallowing in self-pity.

Soon Pa came back in. It was a cold clear night out and there was ice in his beard. "Come on, Matt," he said. "Bundle up good, it's cold out tonight." I was really upset then. Not only wasn't I getting the rifle for Christmas, now Pa was dragging me out in the cold, and for no earthly reason that I could see. We'd already done all the chores, and I couldn't think of anything else that needed doing, especially not on a night like this. But I knew Pa was not very patient at one dragging one's feet when he'd told them to do something, so I got up and put my boots back on and got my cap, coat, and mittens. Ma gave me a mysterious smile as I opened the door to leave the house. Something was up, but I
didn't know what.

Outside, I became even more dismayed. There in front of the house was the work team, already hitched to the big sled. Whatever it was we were going to do wasn't going to be a short, quick, little job. I could tell. We never hitched up this sled unless we were going to haul a big load.

Pa was already up on the seat, reins in hand. I reluctantly climbed up beside him. The cold was already biting at me. I wasn't happy. When I was on, Pa pulled the sled around the house and stopped in front of the woodshed. He got off and I followed. "I think we'll put on the high sideboards," he said. "Here, help me." The high sideboards! It had been
a bigger job than I wanted to do with just the low sideboards on, but whatever it was we were going to do would be a lot bigger with the high sideboards on.

After we had exchanged the sideboards, Pa went into the woodshed and came out with an armload of wood---the wood I'd spent all summer hauling down from the mountain, and then all Fall sawing into blocks and splitting.

What was he doing? Finally I said something. "Pa," I asked, "what are you doing?

" You been by the Widow Jensen's lately?" he asked.

The Widow Jensen lived about two miles down the road. Her husband had died a year or so before and left her with three children, the oldest being eight. Sure, I'd been by, but so what?

"Yeah," I said, "Why?"

"I rode by just today," Pa said. "Little Jakey was out digging around in the woodpile trying to find a few chips. They're out of wood, Matt."

That was all he said and then he turned and went back into the woodshed for another armload of wood. I followed him. We loaded the sled so high that I began to wonder if the horses would be able to pull it. Finally, Pa called a halt to our loading, then we went to the smoke house and Pa took down a big ham and a side of bacon. He handed them to me and told me to put them in the sled and wait.

When he returned he was carrying a sack of flour over his right shoulder and a smaller sack of something in his left hand.

"What's in the little sack?" I asked.

"Shoes. They're out of shoes. Little Jakey just had gunny sacks wrapped around his feet when he was out in the woodpile this morning. I got the children a little candy too. It just wouldn't be Christmas without a little candy."

We rode the two miles to Widow Jensen's pretty much in silence. I tried to think through what Pa was doing. We didn't have much by worldly standards. Of course, we did have a big woodpile, though most of what was left now was still in the form of logs that I would have to saw into blocks and split before we could use it. We also had meat and flour, so we could spare that, but I knew we didn't have any money, so why was Pa buying them shoes and candy?

Really, why was he doing any of this? Widow Jensen had closer neighbors than us; it shouldn't have been our concern. We came in from the blind side of the Jensen house and unloaded the wood as quietly as possible, then we took the meat and flour and shoes to the door.

We knocked. The door opened a crack and a timid voice said, "Who is it?" "Lucas Miles, Ma'am, and my son, Matt. Could we come in for a bit?"

Widow Jensen opened the door and let us in. She had a blanket wrapped around her shoulders. The children were wrapped in another and were sitting in front of the fireplace by a very small fire that hardly gave off any heat at all. Widow Jensen fumbled with a match and finally lit the lamp.

"We brought you a few things, Ma'am," Pa said and set down the sack of flour. I put the meat on the table. Then Pa handed her the sack that had the shoes in it.

She opened it hesitantly and took the shoes out one pair at a time. There was a pair for her and one for each of the children---sturdy shoes, the best, shoes that would last. I watched her carefully. She bit her lower lip to keep it from trembling and then tears filled her eyes and started running down her cheeks. She looked up at Pa like she wanted to say something, but it wouldn't come out.

"We brought a load of wood too, Ma'am," Pa said. He turned to me and said, "Matt, go bring in enough to last awhile. Let's get that fire up to size and heat this place up.

" I wasn't the same person when I went back out to bring in the wood. I had a big lump in my throat and as much as I hate to admit it, there were tears in my eyes too. In my mind I kept seeing those three kids huddled around the fireplace and their mother standing there with tears running down her cheeks with so much gratitude in her heart that she couldn't speak.

My heart swelled within me and a joy that I'd never known before, filled my soul. I had given at Christmas many times before, but never when it had made so much difference. I could see we were literally saving the lives of these people. I soon had the fire blazing and everyone's spirits soared.

(Cont.)

The kids started giggling when Pa handed them each a piece of candy and Widow Jensen looked on with a smile that probably hadn't crossed her face for a long time. She finally turned to us.

"God bless you," she said. "I know the Lord has sent you. The children and I have been praying that he wouldt send one of his angels to spare us."

In spite of myself, the lump returned to my throat and the tears welled up in my eyes again. I'd never thought of Pa in those exact terms before, but after Widow Jensen mentioned it I could see that it was probably true. I was sure that a better man than Pa had never walked the earth.

I started remembering all the times he had gone out of his way for Ma and me, and many others. The list seemed endless as I thought on it. Pa insisted that everyone try on the shoes before we left. I was amazed when they all fit and I wondered how he had known what sizes to get. Then I guessed that if he was on an errand for the Lord that the Lord would make sure he got the right sizes.

Tears were running down Widow Jensen's face again when we stood up to leave. Pa took each of the kids in his big arms and gave them a hug. They clung to him and didn't want us to go. I could see that they missed their Pa, and I was glad that I still had mine.

At the door Pa turned to Widow Jensen and said, "The Mrs. wanted me to invite you and the children over for Christmas dinner tomorrow. The turkey will be more than the three of us can eat, and a man can get cantankerous if he has to eat turkey for too many meals. We'll be by to get you about eleven. It'll be nice to have some little ones around again. Matt, here, hasn't been little for quite a spell." I was the youngest. My two brothers and two sisters had all married and had moved
away.

Widow Jensen nodded and said, "Thank you, Brother Miles. I don't have to say, "'May the Lord bless you,' I know for certain that He will."

Out on the sled I felt a warmth that came from deep within and I didn't even notice the cold. When we had gone a ways, Pa turned to me and said, "Matt, I want you to know something. Your ma and me have been tucking a little money away here and there all year so we could buy that rifle for you, but we didn't have quite enough. Then yesterday a man who owed me a
little money from years back came by to make things square.

Your ma and me were real excited, thinking that now we could get you that rifle, and I started into town this morning to do just that. But on the way I saw little Jakey out scratching in the woodpile with his feet wrapped in those gunny sacks and I knew what I had to do.

Son, I spent the money for shoes and a little candy for those children. I hope you understand."

I understood, and my eyes became wet with tears again. I understood very well, and I was so glad Pa had done it. Now the rifle seemed very low on my list of priorities. Pa had given me a lot more. He had given me the look on Widow Jensen's face and the radiant smiles of her three children.

For the rest of my life, Whenever I saw any of the Jensens, or split a block of wood, I remembered, and remembering brought back that same joy I felt riding home beside Pa that night. Pa had given me much more than if he had given me a rifle that night, he had given me the best Christmas of my life.

There's a biblical story about Christ coming into a town. All of the town folk were out, preparing to stone to death a woman.

Christ said; "Let ye who is without sin cast the first stone.."

An eldery woman made her way through the crowd, picked up a hugh boulder, and splattered the head of the accused woman.

THAT is when Christ uttered his immortal lines; "You know Ma, some days you REALLY **** me off."

Bones: Today you p- issed ME off. You brought tears to my eyes.

It's a bit cold outside, in th e50's, getting readyt o take my daughter to the train station, its her last day at work until the new year.

All five of my daughters will be home tonight. They stay up most of the night, talking, its a tradition they started several years ago.

When they get married and have children of their own they have said, they will leave their kids with their husbands and come home to spend the night and sit and talk with each other.

Me, well, I'll get up early and warm up the tamales and enjoy the morning festivities, and be greatful for another day.

Will someone wake up Bones, and get him out of the fart sack. Where's the coffee?

A Christmas Poem...........

The True Meaning of Christmas

'Twas the night before Jesus came and all through the house
Not a creature was praying, not one in the house.
Their Bibles were lain on the shelf without care
In hopes that Jesus would not come there.

The children were dressing to crawl into bed,
Not once ever kneeling or bowing a head.
And Mom in her rocker with baby on her lap
Was watching the Late Show while I took a nap.

When out of the East there arose such a clatter,
I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash!

When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But angels proclaiming that Jesus was here.
With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray
I knew in a moment this must be The Day!

The light of His face made me cover my head
It was Jesus! returning just like He had said.
And though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth
I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself.

In the Book of Life which He held in His hand
Was written the name of every saved man.
He spoke not a word as He searched for my name;
When He said "It's not here" my head hung in shame.

The people whose names had been written with love
He gathered to take to His Father above.
With those who were ready He rose without a sound
While all the rest were left standing around.

I fell to my knees, but it was too late;
I had waited too long and this sealed my fate.
I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight;
Oh, if only I had been ready tonight.

In the words of this poem the meaning is clear;
The coming of Jesus is drawing near.
There's only one life and when comes the last call
We'll find that the Bible was true after all!

Morning all... Seems grandma and Santa think much alike... They both got the oldest the same thing. So Santa will be heading to WalMart today to fix that little problem. In all this rushing around and such, I forgot to get the wife some little nick-nack women things that I try to get her each Christmas... So, I'll figure a way to do that as well.

I was off line for a couple days. I got that new compuker... wow... It be fast. I couldn't find the CD for the internet service provider I use. So, today, I just went in to the compuker to see what I could do. Turns out, as long as I knew the number to call and had my username and password, it wasn't much of a problem. Go figure!

Now I can send mom the picutures of the kids and such.

Great story, Bones... Drifter, that was a very good peom. Liked it a lot.

Got bunches to do today. Made the yulekake yesterday and today I will be making the fattigman and the krumkake. Good stuff there.

Hope y'all havea great and merry one...

Merry Christmas, gentlemen, and all the best to you and yours.

The morning coffee isn't really working today. My old friend "Jack" and I had a long conversation late last night about toy manufacturers who do not check to make sure all the parts are in the box for the Christmas present. After 2 or 3 discussions, "Jack" and I decided to put everything back in the box and let the parents do it!

My son has the duty today - so let us all send our best thoughts and prayers to those who stand on that well 24/7/365 so we can all enjoy our day.

You guys lookin for me? Ok what did I do or didnt do. Come on , give me a clue . I gotta have time to make up an excuse. No , really , I'm not lyin this time. Had to go see a friend ,who was involved in a pretty bad accident . Figured I couldnt have a good Christmas , knowing he wasnt . So I went to see him In downtown Seattle. A little over 20 miles into the city from here. It was cool , cause I had her (my FLH Harley) over a 100 all the way there. She sure runs good when I'ts cold out. Hes doing great compared to what he was a week ago. Hes still got a few weeks to go in the hospital. He actually asked me to leave. You guys dont think he thinks I'm an ******* , do ya? I mean , I really do believe he was tired and needed his rest. Anyways , hes a great guy and I wish him a quick recovery. At least I feel better , going to see him , he had family there . So my ride home wasn't as fast , cause traffic picked up. Christ , youd think it was Christmas or something. So now I'm off to mooch food off my buddies . You know I always go to my fat friends houses for the holidays , cause they are the best cooks. Well Merry Christmas And A Harley New Years To one and all . 'Mornin' folks! Coffee's on! Ya better grab a cup, I know some of ya gotta get to work in a bit! The rest of us'll sit here and have some coffee and visit while yer on yer way to work! LOL.

Earle, we was just missin' ya is all. I don't see why anyone'd tell you to get lost, Marine! Good on fer checkin' on a friend like that.
I've sit in a VA hospital before and it don't take long to get tired of it!

I like to see all you folks visit us here in the mornin'! Even if ya visit with "Jack" too much when yer puttin' toys together! ;) Now that the holidays are about over, I'll be botherin' folks about that sort of thing. If ya ain't sounded off lately over something, I'm gonna be droppin' ya an email here and there.

I know some of ya ain't up to spendin' a lot of time here, but I sure do appreciate hearin' from ya now and then! Folks like NamGrunt, NamNuts, USMC0311, MrBSox, BadBob...lots of good things these folks and others like them have said that's well worth hearin.' Hey! Cut me some slack! Without a duty roster handy, that's about all the names I can keep in my head at a time! Otherwise, I'll just be sayin' "Hey you!" and if yer lucky, ya might hear, "Hey, Marine!" LOL.

Besides. I need some input so I'll have an idea of what we're gonna visit over. I get the best ideas from you folks!

We could talk about near anything, but I only got so many ideas at once that I can carry around in my head! ( See names^) LOL.

Warm up yer coffee, folks! I think I've given the jokesters enough to feed off of fer one day! ;) They hold less in their heads minute to minute than I do! LMAO! Gotta feed them their straight lines or they get mean on ya! :D

It's a new day, folks! New opportunities! Go out and take advantage of them!

We'll get it right one of these days! Might even get it better if we ain't careful! It's a good day!

Well... Had to work Christmas Day... Got the rest of the week off up through the new year... Go back to work on the 2nd. Can't hardly complain about that.. 'specially when I get to play on my new compuker... damn it's fast... and it don't freeze up on me neither... Will probably take some Christmas goodies over to some friends later in the day.. Wife says since I got the time off, I'll have to clean up my room... Well, 'spose it needs it a bit. But if it's clean, how will I find anything? LOL

Well, the kids had a banner Christmas... Wife did pretty well too. Me, I made out with the permission to work over-time to pay for this compuker. Well, that's one hell of a gift. Also got some ode de toilet - My daughter asked what kind I liked, told her Stetson... She got me something that ran about 3 bucks.. well, it's what she can afford and the wife says it smells good... I guess I'll have to trust her... Now if I can just figure on when to use it. Little bottle will probably last me near 10 - 15 years. LOL Also got a real nice shirt. Well, didn't have a lot of money for gifts.. 'specially after getting the kids their things. Watchin their eyes light up is worth every penny.

Well all.. think that's about it for now. Y'all take care and Semper Fi!

Mornin Bones and the rest of you Moweens !!! I think I am gonna try your advice and keep an open mind and look for new opportunities. I just got a fresh batch of Kona from one of my bro's in Ocean View Hi, and its from a lil local grower he knows over there. I just tested it with a mixture of Jamesons/JD....pretty good ceptin I can't taste the coffee !!!!

I got to call the sheriff this morning cause I locked my keys in my truck again yesterday. I call them out about once every two weeks when I do that. They keep tellin me to get another extra key, but I tell em its too far to drive to git one....besides, everytime they come out I give em some special blended coffee, so I don't think they want me to get a new security key for my truck anyway.....I have CRS so bad that sometimes I go outside and dig a cathole instead o using the head inside !!! LMAO....

Bones, I hope you and the rest of the Marines in here have a good New Year and a safe one. Barndog, if your reading this post I hope you will check on Joe T. Howdy folks! How the hell are ya this mornin! Coffee's on! Get a cup and find a sit somewhere! Paper ain't near to bein' here yet. No. I ain't fergot about scaring the paper boy! LOL. Don't worry. I'll get around to it!

That reminds me of a few years ago. Had a guy bustin into cars and trucks in a small town I lived in who was only stealin gas outta the tank. Cops couldn't or wouldn't do anything. Folks in the neighborhood knew who it was. One day he'd be borrowin' money fer smokes, the next he'd be makin' a hundred mile round trip in his old 4X. That same mornin', one person or another would wake up to an empty gas tank.

He finally got around to my gas tank one day. I told him all about it. A couple weeks later he did it again. I was broke and all I had was the gas in my tank to get me anywhere. I got kinda mad. I couldn't find him, so I told a couple of his 'friends' about it and what would happen if my tank ever got empty again. Seems he was on another hundred mile trip. I caught up with him the next day, though. Told him what would happen to whoever did that to me again. He wondered why I was gonna beat him up. Well, I hadn't said that. I told him what would happen to the guy if I caught him is all.

I laid out on a hill and reconned the parkin lot fer over a month. Time to time, I'd see someone in the parking lot and go down and scope things out. If it was someone I knew and they weren't actin' suspicious, I'd wander over and say howdy. Surprising how easy it is to sneak up on people. Even if they know yer out there somewhere! I did feel kinda bad about scarin' a couple of the older folks, though! Listenin' to the little kids scream was kinda fun!

The feller I was lookin' fer would hit his place about 17:00 in the evening and not come out til around 06:00. Kinda disappointed me, he did. I was short on sleep, in a real bad way, but I had some fun fer a month and a half til I got moved outta there.

I heard it took him two years to start stealin' gas again.....

I hope it don't take the paper boy two years to start deliverin' papers again after I scare him!

Point? Hell, sometimes ya just gotta tell a story! ;)

Warm up yer coffee, folks! Sit a spell and get yer head together before ya get rollin' fer the day! Relax fer a few. It'll still be there after bit. Whatever it is.

We'll get it right one of these days! After all, we keep gettin' new chances to get it straight every day don't we! Might even get it better if we work at it a bit.

The question I have is...will the guy get to be better at stealin gas, or will he eventually figure out that stealin' wrong to start with....I'll try to keep ya posted.

Bones, I got a gas story fer ya thats sort o reversed from yours. When I got out of the Corps, the first job I had was with
"Western Electric", who was later merged with AT &T....anyway I worked the midnight shift with about 20 other guys running cable in the phone main frames......

Well this one guy had bought a new VW and everynight at break we had to listen to how great his gas milage was....it went on and on and on........so we decided to really drive this sumb!tch crazy.....so myself and about 3 of the other guys took turns hauling around a 5 gallon gas can with us when we came to work and every night for about a month we would take turns going downstairs during break into the parking lot and filling the VW up with gas......that sumb!tch went crazy....he just couldn't believe that he had a VW that burned no gas.....he went to the garage and had the tank checked, had them check out his engine. He wrote VW and told em he had a car that burned almost no gas....
We laffed our azzes off for about a month over that deal....then we stopped putting the gas in......
I think we finally told him that VW's don't burn no gas until ya break in the engine and he bought that !!!! There's sum real stupid mofo's in the world......
Anyway, your story brought that ole memory up .....hadn't thought about that in years !!!!

Bones are family has a small commerical roofing co. that is locate right here on our property. Well when the price of gas went through the roof about 25 years ago we found that gas was missing from the service trucks a couple times a week. I did not have the energy to stay up all night so I got the biggest German Shepperd I could find. He turned out to be the best employee on the payroll and no more gas was ever missing. This dog would not even let the other employees back on the property after working hours . During working hours he was find with the people that came on the property but after dark noway. Our account at first said that I could not wright the dog off as an expense until he came up to the business after dark one night. I even wrote the vet bills off after that.

Morning all... Well, we finally got some snow - came down pretty good yesterday. Seems to have warmed up some over-night though and now it's melting off. Don't mind the snow so much as long as the roads are clear.

I used to work at a gas station ... this is where I learned how dishonest people can be. Got to where I'd keep 10 bucks to cover a $3.00 gas can with 2 bucks of gas in it. For my jumper cables I'd hold 20 bucks. A guy once asked me why so much and I told him, the cables cost me 10 bucks and if you don't bring it back, the ones I want run about 20.

Take care all and Semper Fi!

'Mornin' folks! Coffee's on! Grab yerself a cup and sit fer a spell. It's Saturday! Ain't nuthin' goin' today fer most of ya, unless ya got a life! LOL. Time to relax, think about the last year, watch a movie or a game on TV. Spend some time with the family, maybe. Paper'll be here directly. I got the comics and the front page. Don't worry. I read fast! ;)

We get to movin' too fast sometimes, don't we. Gotta take a few to sit down and rest and relax and sort things out now and then. Hell, if ya ain't got the answers, go find them! They're out there. LOL. We just gotta slow down long enough to ask ourselves the right questions, and then to figure out the right answers is all. Sometimes there aren't any good answers, just the right ones.

Now when yer younger, I can understand the impatience at times, but then there's times...when ya gotta stop and think fer a bit. Don't get aggravated over nothin' is the real trick, I figure. Younger folks'll want to go and do somethin'. Most don't care what, just somethin'. I knew some Marines years ago who were recon. Ya wanna know what they did on weekends? They went lookin' fer cliffs to rapel down! LOL. It was somethin' to do! Another bunch went lookin' fer cliffs to dive off into a lake or river somewhere. The higher, the better! Some went lookin' fer trouble, some worked on a hobbie. Others...well we were all young once. Seems most didn't stop and think some things through, though. I know, alliteration again, but if Dr. Suess got away with it, why can't I? LOL.

We all learn at different rates and different speeds. Some will learn this or that faster or slower than the next. Some don't learn the important things till too late, if at all. Love, honour, integrity, respect, freedom and liberty, responsibility, committment, you know, things like that. They take a little time and trouble to sit down and sort out. Especially if ya weren't taught them to start with. Thinkin' that there's nothin' to do...well, considerin' such problematic puzzles as those is doin' somethin'. Somethin' important to you and to everyone you'll ever know. Once you have them sorted out and got them workin' for ya, they tend to shine through whether you realize it or not.

As with all goals you set for yerself, now and then you have to stop fer a bit and check yerself and see if yer gettin' there or not. The MBA's and all have funny names fer all that, but the principle is the same. This is the time of year when we check ourselves and consider such things. A time of year we all have trouble lookin' at, 'cause it's hard to do sometimes. Time to rethink yer progress, re-state yer goals. See if you set the mark a little too high all at once. The money and all , like the professional goals and such, is nice to keep in line and on top of, but the important things are what we all look at this time of year.

Thing is. You gottta allow some room fer imperfection and mistakes and plan some elasticity in yer goals. That way when things do go to hell on ya, ya got some room to allow for it. Be assured. Things will go to hell on ya here and there. If ya done the best ya can. Well, what else can anyone ask of ya. Just don't set yer goals to high, and damn sure don't set them too low!

The important things. What's important to you folks?

Warm up yer coffee, folks. Relax. We got all weekend to sort this out! LOL. We'll get it right. One of these days we'll get it better, I'd think. It's a new day! A new chance! Lots of opportunities! Lets get things sorted out and take advantage!

Hey, I ain't lettin Joe T git away with that Bullsh!t story he laid on you..........Joe T finally after many years of toying around with trying to get "Marine Drunk" did.......he was so drunk that Willie convinced him that he had been called up for the War on Iraq and that the Marine Corps wanted him in Force Recon, but he would have to make a parachute jump first............so there goes JoeT over the balcony screaming ....."Recon".............ouch !!!!:D

It's going to be a bit colder here today, yesterday it was 72 and today its only be 69, might have to put on a shirt or even a sweater... LOL

Got a call last night from a Marine buddy, we served in Nam together. Izzy got hit right off at the start of the battle of Finger Lake and a Marine dragged him out of harms way.

He laid there unable to move, got shot in the back, parazyed his back and legs, he walks with a cane today, but has always felt guilty for not being able to fire back, during the battle.

Sometimes we forget about the pain of not being all that we were trained to be, makes me take inventory of my life and wonder if I have done all I could do up to this point.

As Bones says it, everyday we get another chance to do it right, Coffee time.

I know how that Marine Feels with his guilt......I've been carrying the guilt for over 30 years of not being able to finish my tour after I was wounded......it took me all those years to find bro's to hang with and that has helped me more than I could ever put into words.......I hope he is hooked up with some Nammer's that were there and other Marines to help him.....Tell him I said Welcome Home.............

Good morning Marines and whom ever else is in ear shot. That ought to get a few more , seeing as though I have a Marine voice , and as we all know it carries quite a ways. I got pis*ed off already this am. I have msn as my carrier for my computer , so I go into there game room daily , to play hearts and spades. I'm in there and this gentleman joins my group . He is from the middle east . Now he did not disrespect the USA in anyway , and I did not disrespect him . He was waving our flag pretty much the whole time we played the game. I left him with this message , If you are a good guy , I mean no disrespect , If you are an evil man and believe ,as do Osama , and Hussein in Allah , may you rot in hell. I was so fvckin pis*sed that this guy sat with us , I was boiling over. Am I wrong? Last year , right after 9-11 we had to go to this harassment class at work . My question was , In light of what just happened at the Towers , can we express our anger to those fvckin towel heads. I'm living in Seattle and this place is full of them. Taxi drivers , 7-11 , you name it , there everywhere. They told me that I have the right to feel any way I want to , I just cant express it. What the hell is good feeling strongly about something if you cant do anything about it. Thats my question for the day. I played that game , them promptly exited , with out so much as a , by your leave , give me a reach around , fvck -off Towel Head (I wonder if Towel Head was gonna be a new Harley Motor) blow me , or any of those gestures the Corp taught me. Ok , Ok , I'm done whining. Coffee is Fresh , have a cup or 2 , just dont leave the pot empty and respect your elders. Semper Fi , Do Or Die. Cpl C.Kill A Commie For Mommy :rambo: :marine:

Actually, I like to see what other folks have to say about things. Gets me to thinkin' sometimes. Gives me ideas on what to visit about later on.

Plus, if I tell ya what my point is all the time, ya ain't thinkin' fer yerselves. Most times I got two or three points to make. ‘Mornin’ folks! How the hell are ya! Life is good ain’t it! Coffee’s on! Grab a cup and get comfortable! Paper’ll be here after a bit!

I ain’t got a thing to visit about this morning’. I ain’t been thinking’ about much. Just been reading’ and watchin’ the tube and doin’ a few little chores around the house. Haven’t taken the time to sort anything out of the background noise, ya know what I mean? Well, sometimes it’s good to take a day off and not consider nothing. Yeah, yeah, double negative, but I thought I might get away with it this time! LOL. This ain’t anyone’s English class here! We’re just visitin’ is all! I miss working’ in the garden this time of year. Once ya get things planned out and goin’ on it, you can more or less relax and consider anything that comes to mind with that stuff and yer doin’ something that might make a difference as well. At least pretty things up a bit around the AO. Makes the ol lady and happy. Kinda funny really. Neighbour lady told me she liked the way my yard and garden was looking late last summer. Couple weeks later I saw her ol man fertilizin’ and waterin’ his yard. He didn’t seem too happy about it. I like to keep my hands busy with stuff like that from time to time. Guess some folks don’t.

It’s Sunday folks! Kick back day! Call a brother and say howdy. Go back to bed with the ol lady fer a bit. Go to church if ya gotta. Watch a game. Relax. Be glad ya got what ya got. Enjoy it!

Warm up yer cup and kick back fer a bit. Day ain’t quite started yet! We’ll get it sorted out. One day we’ll get it done better, too!

It’s a new opportunity, folks! A new day. New beginnings and all that! Take advantage of it!

Mornin Marines . Coffee is good this morning , thanks Bones. Been up all night , cant sleep , I've had insomnia lately , dont really know why. Got a couple questions maybe someone can answer. I'm looking for a service manual for my 1943 , U model Flathead , Harley-Davidson. Anyone know where I can find one. My flatty was a military model , at one time. And I know they had some kind of manual for it , otherwise them grunts couldnt figure it out . I was a grunt too , so dont take offense, just fvckin with ya. Anyways I dont know if they made an Army one and a Marine manual . Or just maybe they didnt let Jarheads ride motorcycles. They probably figured that was the sissy way to get around , and said , no thanks , I'll walk. Second question , what happens to the site every Saturday night? Am I missing something? My last question , How come this site will not let me into the Arcade? It hasnt let me in for 3 weeks now. Every time I click on arcade , it thinks I'm tryin to change someones post. Takes me right to forum , then denies me access to that too. I mean whats up , I shower. Thanks guys , Semper Fi , Cpl C.Kill A Commie For Mommy :rambo: :marine:Respect your Elders !

Dammit Earle..... I'll get with my biker buddy over in Hamilton, Ontario. He knows of lots of places to get sh!t like that. In fact, I think the one he bought and resold last year was a 1942 or 43 flathead - the military mail courier version - complete with sidecar.

It had too many things missing for him to restore, so he sold it.

I've had this Flathead since September of 79 . Right now its restored as a civilian model . Its been A couple different versions since I've owned it. I't was a Philippino Chopper when I purchased it in the Philippines in 79 for $1800.00 US dollars . I'm just thinking that someday I'd like to make her a military model again. And just checking around , with the help of USMC0311 , I found out they did trust the Jarheads and let them ride. There is a book entitled Motorcycle Marines. I gotta have that one. Now I'm all hot nuts about these books and just started noticing lately that I have to hold them books further and further from my face. Think I'll be wearing glasses before long . I'ts a b*tch getting old , I mean older. I just had a friend come by the other day with a 1934 trike , this was a 45 , but it would still be cool to own . He was looking for a little bit of money for Christmas. I was too and couldnt afford it. The best one I ever seen , and believe me I've seen alot of them. But this was a sidecar ,that was a flatbed. So if you were riding and you broke down , they could come pick you up. You just pushed it up on the flatbed , tied it down and you were on your way. Well I reckon I've said enough , and I know your ears gotta be hurtin by now. Thanks for listenin. Cpl C.

'Mornin' folks! How was yer weekend! Ya get some time to kick back, or were ya busy all weekend! LOL. Coffee's on! Ya better get some! Day ain't quite started yet! Take a few and plan out yer day! Get ahead of things if ya can! LOL. Paper'll be here in a bit.

I kicked back Saturday and helped the ol lady clean up the place Sunday! Hell, it was her mess anyway! I always pick up after myself! What! LOL.

I watched a movie Saturday. Been readin' on a book I got from the library. Ben doin' a little research on the web. Watchin' a show on the Science Channel right now. It's called intellectual stimulation folks! LOL. Ya gotta learn somethin new every day. Thing is, I can't seem to find just any one thing that really holds my attention! Everything interests me! Well, 'cept fer math and english. Stuff like that, ya know! LOL. I guess I just stay curious is all. Used to get me in trouble when I was younger! ;)

One thing that I find kinda curious anymore is people and new tech, though in all things, I'm just a dilettant. Means what I said before. I just explore this stuff outta curiosity is all. When my curiosity is satisfied I move on to somethin' else fer a bit. I do tend to keep readin' sciance fiction, though. Oh, not that Star Wars, Start Trek kinda stuff, but things that most might find dry or have trouble keepin' up with if they ain't curious about things.

Thing is, most of what we see today as normal or even somewhat amazing, especially to those of us who are still in awe of calculators and VCR's all were first talked about in science fiction sometime or other. The next twenty years are going to make the last hundred look like we were moving in slow motion folks! Ya learn from the past, but can't ferget the present, and ya gotta look to the future.

Stay curious. Keeps yer mind turnin' over on all eight cylinders.

Now why did I bring all this up? Damn if I know, I'm just blatherin' on. I could bring it all together if ya want, I suppose. But I don't feel like it. Ya need to think fer yerselves sometimes! ;)
We need to keep on top of things. We'll be left behind if we don't. There'll always be a need for a rifleman to hold the ground. Always. But the job is going to change in some pretty unexpected ways in the future. One thing that will change everything as nothin has in the history of man since the taming of fire is nano-tech. As one old fart I knew used to say, you can mark my words.

If yer not learnin' have 'em start throwin' dirt in yer face. If yer not thinkin' ahead, well, ya gotta think ahead. Don't let the **** overwhelm ya or surprise ya is all.

Well, that's enough ramblin' I suppose! Once again, I didn't get it said anything like I meant to, but yer gonna have to deal with it! LOL.

Warm up yer coffee, folks! It's a new day! New opportunites are all around ya! We gotta another chance to get it right. Might even get it better this time!

Morning Marines . Cant sleep so I thought I'd come check out my favorite place to be , around my brothers. I say that because I come in , grab a cup , make sure I leave some for the next Marine , respect my elders and try to do whats right. I know your not gonna believe this , but I'm not perfect . There I said it , but when I come to this site I'm not expected to be , I can be myself . I am however expected to treat my fellow Marines with respect , and for the most part I believe I do . Now sometimes I get carried away with my potty mouth , but I'm a Marine and I perfected the art of cussing from my Drill Instructors . My sick sense of humor , well I got that from my brothers . My values and my sensitivity I got from my mom, although I dont show the compassion enough . I know when to sit up and fly right , but if you ask my friends and ex's , they'll all tell you I'm an as*hole . Well I've been practicing to be one for almost 44 years now , I'm not perfect at that either , But I'm a Marine Dammit . So whatever it is that I'm doing , I give it 110 % . Ok , so I know what some of you are going to say , Boot . The rest of you are going to say , someone grab his cup , he's had too much coffee . So with that I'm leaving . Hope you all have a great day .Respect your elders. One more thing , yesterday I was asking about a service manual for my 1943 H-D . Never cared for math, but I loved English because my English teacher wore short skirts and had long legs. I still remember her, sat up front for that class.

I don't remember my English teachers name, but I do remember my art teacher, Mrs. Karen Kuykendale, she told me that I could be and do what ever I wanted to do in life. That I could be pleased with my drawing and abilities. She got me a job painting a mural on the large window of the downtown Bank of America. A life size angel (well shaped, female angel, I recall, maybe I had my English teacher on my mind. LOL). The local paper or our school paper printed the story on the front page and for a brief period of time I was a celebrity on campus.

I'll have never forgotten my Art teacher, but I still remember those long legs of my English teacher. LOL

"Happy New Year, folks! Coffee's on, ya better have some! LOL. Maybe some of ya better make that an Irish coffee without the whip cream! LOL. Paper ain't here yet, so we'll wait fer it together.

I haven't spent quite a year on the site. Barely knew how to turn a computer on when I started on leatherneck.com. I've had some fun here and met a lot of good folks. Some have stuck around and other shave moved on. Life is.

I've had some good times the last year. Some times ain't been so good. Life is! Some folks have liked me, and some haven't. Life is. I've been called some good names, and I've been called some I ain't heard since boot camp! LOL. Life is. I've been poor and I've had my needs met, but I ain't rich. Life is. I've done some good things ( Don't look at me! I don't know how THAT happened!) and I've done some things I wish I coulda done better in retrospect! LOL. Life is. I've said some things that I'm proud to own up to, and others I wish I hadn't said at all. Life is. I've fought city hall and won, and I struggled with the VA. (That's still up in the air right now, so we'll see. LOL) Life is. I've had a Governor listen to what I had to say (and he reads my words pretty often from the Christmas e-card he sent me), and I've had drunks and *****s ignore me. LOL. Life is. I look at the world scene and I'm dismayed and angry. I saw a child next door playin'with his pup and I was encouraged and heartened. Life is. ( His pup is the one been ****tin' in my yard, I think.) LOL. Life is! Lots of things I could get down on myself about this last year, lots of things I could get big-headed about, but I just done the best I knew how at the time. Life is. Sometimes good. Sometimes not as good as I'd a liked. Life is.

Hopefully, I'll do it all a bit better this year.

After all, it's a new opportunity. Another chance to get it right. A new opportunity to do it all better this go 'round.

Warm up yer coffee, folks! Have a bit of the hair of the dog if ya need to. Most of ya got all day to recuperate! ;) LOL. Life is! Ain't it grand!!

Happy New Years, folks! May all good things come to you this year, and may the Lord look upon you and bless you and yours with the glories of his heart's desire for you. May the enemy never know your gates, may you live long enough to see your children's grandchildren be the ones to kneel at your knees for thewisdom and grace that God has blessed you with. May you be at peace in all things. May you become rich in all things. May the Lord bless and keep you.

Just don't ferget to keep yer K-Bar sharp and yer pot handy! ;)

For starting this thread, for settin' some on this site straight, for listenin' when we needed an ear and fer helpin' us to get our sh.t straight when we needed it.

Had a good New Years Eve with friends and family. Bit of a pot-luck with a twist on the old exchange gift system. Made for a pretty entertaining evening. It was a bit short on the alcohol... Not that it mattered much seein how I was drivin... still

Well, y'all have a great day and a better year to come...

Here it is a start of a New Year............Having a cup or two of coffee with friends and Brother Marines makes it all worth it. We have a good place to visit which alot of Marines call their "SECOND HOME."

As the new year begins, so do new challenges of life. With the new year, leatherneck.com will continue to grow. Our brothers and Sisters have made it what it is today.

Yes Bones, I will have another cup of coffee with you and sit down and share what we have.............A Brotherhood that only Marines know and understand............

Happy New Year to all,

Sempers,

virwar:

and others;

Many years ago I saw a documentary on tv. It dealt with a tribe in Africa that lived on the edge of the Kwalahari Desert. They were the "poorest" people in the world.

Their entire system of mathmatics (counting system) was limited to: One, Two, Three, ENOUGH.

Water, food, fresh meat, etc. became a traveling handicap after three days. A hunter or gatherer who brought enough back to the tribe fed his family, kept enough for three days, and the rest belonged to the tribe.

When the tribe was giving, it made sure that each family had their needs satisfied for three days, after that, they were on their own. If they couldn't catch-up, they were gone.

I embraced the philosophy. Let everyone define their concept of "enough". Once "enough" is reached, why be concerned with leftovers.

Like you, I've been to many "Eat All You Can" Smorgies. We fill our plates, go back for seconds, or thirds, and declare "I've had enough!". After we have had enough, we don't care what happens to the rest of the food.

1, 2, 3, ENOUGH.

One house, two commodes, three bedrooms. Would you risk one house to gain another? Do you need two, or is one enough?

1, 2, 3, Enough. I wish "enough" for everyone, and give the excess to someone who is still looking.

And in the words of June Christy, I wish you love.

I'm thinkin of each and everyone of

YOU

...while I nurse this hangover.

Actually it isn't that bad. I believe it was that shot of vodka. I was never one for fermented potato juice.

'02 was pretty good. Of course, I haven't looked into my book keeping yet..... LOL but it was pretty good. I got my Marine Corps mentality out of remission thanks to all of YOU jarhead bastids, and frankly most days - I wish I was still doing it. Only the age and wisdom of the onset of said age, brought knowledge.

The politics of the time when Bones, Earle and I were in - are not even close to as bad as it is nowdays. And, it's about to get worse yet...... Life is.

But now - we know the difference.

'Mornin' folks! Coffee's on! Grab a cup and sit fer a bit. Paper'll be here directly if I'm lucky! LOL. Get comfortable. The day ain't quite started yet! You got a few minutes to plan things out if ya wanta.

Well, I'm about done preachin' til next time I reckon. We've had a lot to think about lately, all in all. Just about systems overload fer me! LOL. You think it's easy comin' up with somethin' to visit over every day! LOL. I do try to avoid politics as there's always someone around who knows more than I do. Not that I mind. ;)

Been a lot of visitin' on brotherhood among Marines lately. That's a good thing, though. Gives the clueless a clue, not that they'll ever really understand, but they might be encouraged to avoid commentin' on it from a position of ignorance. Not that I've ever commented on somethin' and been ignorant about it myself. I usually know what I'm talkin' about! LOL. If ya believe that, I gotta ten spot for ya til payday! Only be twenty percent! Promise!Uh....what ya got that I can keep for ya til then?

What! LOL.

It's a good day, folks. We're doin' alright. There's some of the best folks around who hang out here. I'm proud to be havin' coffee with ya in the mornin'.

It's a New Year, folks. A new day. We got another chance and new opportunities! Make sure ya take advantage of them!

Been up with the wife and mother-in-law... they got bad news from back home... Of course, I had to share in their misery... LOL

Well, y'all have a grand day.

Hey Bones... it is pay day! I'll take that ten spot... ahhh, tell ya what, ya can keep my wife... by months end, you'll give me another ten just to take her back... Gotta warn ya though, rates can rise without notice... LOL

Morning 'bones' always enjoy reading your grumbings/ramblings. The coffee is ok, sometimes weak and sometimes strong but always enjoyable. Thought I don't post much I do enjoy reading all the comments on this site. There is truth to the saying "once a Marine always a Marine." Reading all the comments on brotherhood always brings back memories of my time in the Corps and the people I served with. Whenever I see a young Marine I feel the brotherhood but in my mind I think, my god how young they look. Must be my age, I know that whatever the job they'll get it done. Have a blessed new year all.

'Mornin' folks! Coffee's on! Ya better grab a cup and get yer eyes open! It's a new day! Paper'll be here in a bit! I get the front page and the comics first!

I been thinkin' again.....Yeah, I know, but I like to practice. Makes me feel useful around here! LOL. I figure if I keep practicin' I might get it right one of these days! LOL. Anyway... I been thinkin'. It's about knowin' people. I ain't really sorted this one out. I spent sone time visitin' with some folks last night and that usually gets me to thinkin' about stuff. If ya ever watch me when we're face to face, I tend to stare off into space sometimes. Now and then, I won't actually be ignorin' ya, ya just said something that made me think fer a bit. Not that I ever been known to ignore anyone, that is. At least not by accident anyway...

You can do whatever you can think of or strategize about to try and get to know someone and no matter what ya do, there just ain't no gettin inside their head. We're separate people. Different ways of lookin at stuff, different backgrounds, different experiences. Different levels of intellect and ability. You can study, learn psychology, sociology, politics, game theory, history, whatever. You can visit with the folks who know that other person. Talk to his family and co-workers...everything you can think of...and there is not any way of really knowing what another person is like, no matter how much time you spend with that person in the flesh. Oh, we get an educated guess maybe. Might even understand somewhat, but true knowledge escapes us. We are not them. We are individuals, capable of only fleeting insight into anothers life and thoughts. You see, we each of us learn and grow every day. Life and it's experiences affect each of us in slightly different ways no matter that we spend a lifetime sharing each minute with the one we wish to know. As a matter of fact, we should not spend each and every minute with another person, no matter how much we may love or respect them. We will lose ourselves in such a relationship, becoming that which is dreadful to behold. A totally helpless person who has lost themselves in that which they can never be or understand. In such a relationship we will lose that which we hold dear. The one(s) we wish to know better.

Shared experiences and knowledge are a part of our society. They are what bring us together and they are what set us apart from each other. We are each of us different. Individuals with the liberty to live free and at the same time within the arms of our brothers and sisters in this flesh.

One place I'm going with this, is of course, to our mutual experience as Marines. We have shared much that no other can really understand unless they've shared the same experience. Our experiences have been life changing. From the first day of boot camp ( or night, rather! LOL), to the last day of our lives. It is an experience without par. A knowledge that cannot simply be understood, but lived day to day. Minute to minute. This is a part of what makes us different and brothers and sisters without peer. It is an experience that words will never be adequate to describe.

It isa hard saying, but friends and family can never, quite, know this. They respect us. They suffer. They share somewhat, if from an outside perspective, what it is we do, what we experience, and what they see of our committment to our mission and to each other.

Many of our friends and family members suffer, for they see us, knowing our sacrifice, and sacrifice themselves, suffering for us in their love...yet they are always outside of what it is we do and always wonder why we do 'it' as doggedly, persistently, and often, in their eyes, as selfishly as we do.

We are each of us who we are, yet we are Marines. Few people can know or understand us except ourselves than almost any other organistion that has ever existed. That's a bad sentence, but I can't figure another way of sayin' it.

We are alone when we are apart.

It is why we are always more comfortable around another Marine than with others...

...unless yer with another Marine of yer own rank, and then ya better see who has time in grade before ya go too much farther! ;)

Extemporaneous talkin' again. Didn't get it said right, but I did it pretty well I think, considerin'.

Warm up yer coffee, folks! Yer Marines. It's my pleasure to have a cup of joe with ya!

It's a new day. New opportunities to get it right! Keep tryin! Who knows. We might do it better one of these days!

I been thinkin' again.....

That hurts, this early in the morning, need two cups of coffee to read what you said and understand. I guess what it all comes to is that comradeship we shared under circumstances the world has never experienced, is what brings us together.

The Corps brought us all together to share a unique experience and then like a women who neglects her children, threw us out into by the side of the road like an abandoned child after she was through with us. Only when we find others that have shared that same experience do we find comfort and feel "at home."

We feel at home in an environment that was not normal it was so unlike the rest of the other military branches, it had its good side and its bad side. Pride and honor reminds us of the good, but when someone says things that remind us of the bad side, we tend to take an offensive and sometimes a defensive position. Our children suffer in silence over this, and only now are my daughters beginning to understand why I am the way I am.

Why I hate Dentist
I realized we suffer from our military experience once again, yesterday when my wife had to have some minor surgery on her teeth. I went with her to the dentist but left her there and asked the receptionist when it would be over so I could return. I left her there, she suffered without my presence. It was on our way home that I realized, the reason I hate dentist (almost as much as I hate commies), because of the dentist in the Marine Corps. They just yanked and pulled and cleaned our teeth without any consideration to the pain they inflicted. That pain embedded in our memories comes back to hunt us, (the reason, I didn't want to be in the dentist office) and others who have not experienced that type of treatment don't understand. My wife didn't understand why I didn't stay with her and my daughters don't understand why I hate dentist, until I explained our Marine experiences with dentists, then she understood and so did my daughters.

Our children suffer because of our Marine corps experiences but then again they also are great kids because of our experiences.

Gosh darn Bones you see what you went and did? Got me to thinking…

I realized, the reason I hate dentist's because of the dentist in the Marine Corps.

I know it's off the subject but Sparrowhawk's comment about Marine Corps Dentist's reminded me of the only time during my four year tour that I needed a Dentist. He tried to drill the tooth next to the one that was giving me hell before I finally set him right. However, the filling he used for my front tooth was silver. Well, I guess he did something right because 35 years later the filling is still there. Thank goodness it's small, but when I smile you can see it shine.

'Mornin' folks! How ya doin'! Grab yerself a cup of coffee and make yerselves comfortable! It's Saturday! Time to take a break, do yer weekend chores around the house, and maybe spend sometime with the ol lady!. Oh, hell, you can avoid her the rest of the week! ;) Make her happy fer a few hours on the weekend will ya!

I don't have much today, just a thought is all. Oh, shut up already! LOL.

Havin' coffee in the morning can be a pretty comforting ritual.

We all have rituals of one kind or another in our lives. With most of us, rituals are present in almost everything we do. The way we do things in a certain order, in a certain way, at a certain time. From celebrations to weekly chores around the house. More than habits, they fulfill something within us all. A sense of belonging. A sense of being a part of something more than we are as individuals. Everything from preparing to shave in the morning, to how we place things in our tool box to what we eat and how. Even in the way we seek our thrills and chills. They offer us comfort and a feeling of security. Life is so full of surprise, uncertainty and adventure for us that we need rituals in our lives almost as much as we need fellowship with our brethern. As in all things, balance is a good thing as well in the type and performance of our individual and group rituals.

But, sometimes...

...a cup of coffee...is just...a cup of coffee! ;)

Warm up yer coffee, folks! Take yer time! It's a new day! Take some time off and spend it with family this weekend! We got another chance to get it right. We'll get it better one of these days, if we pay attention to what we're doin' and why!

Mornin' all...

Well, it is Saturday... Which means, for me, it's only Thursday - ponder that one for a while (here's a hint, I've got Mon/Tue off). I am looking at a long night though - yeah, another trade. But, as it turns out, this will be the only Sunday I work this month - 3, 3 day weekends in a row ain't all that bad!

Wifes' rig should be done bein worked on later today. Don't know how I'm going to get it while I'm at work and her with no ride ... I'm sure we'll figure something out. Could end up being a lot of back and forth driving just to get the rig settled in one place.

Oh, I'm working on a project for a buddy of mine... no, he wasn't in the Corps - he was a Coastie. Turns out, he's still good people! Trust him with my life. Anyway, he's got me downloadin' some music from a site - all bagpipe stuff. If any of you are interested in bagpipes and such, here's the site for you to check out.

Well, if a man can be a man and still wear a skrit, more power to him!

The music is good, they even have a set where they play the Marines Hymn - and they done good with it too.

On that skirt thing... I figure it's like this... It's from the Scots - a land that whenever it was conqured the ivaders saw no point in stayin. A people that brought us golf - need I say more. I just figure their women were a little too slow or too lazy to make their men any pants. My theory, but it has it's points.

I was thinkin of this later this morning. Figured I'd bring up now. Bones often speaks of trackin the behavior of individuals - the enjoyment of watching 'em. Well, the other night I was with the baby and she started cryn. So I'm there comforting her and after about a minute or two of her cryin she stops, looks at the bedroom door and then starts cryin again. She did this 3 or 4 times... until my wife came in. Then she was all smiles! 5 months old and she's gettin us trained all ready! LOL

I got wound up on NamGrunt's thread, "A Call to Arms" It was somethin' USMC0311 posted that got me goin', though. Joe posted that excerpt from a Charlotte NC newspaper. Ya might wanta go take a look if ya ain't seen it yet! That came near to gettin' me agravated. Aggravated is when I startin' huntin' people! Kinda like when I'm drinkin' Wild Turkey! ;) Aboput all i I can do is email people. Don't have the cash to make a trip to DC or places like that. On the other hand I did get a small thing changed in South Dakota awhile back doin' the same thing. COunty treasurers offices all over the state will be treatin' Vets a little better now.

It ain't much, but it surprised me what a little time and a bit typin' and re-typin' would do.

I guess sometimes that littel bit is all it takes to change a few things here and there. I never thought so or really believed it before. It's just a matter of a bit of passion and a little bit of time is all.

I've only got a hundred emails out there on this and this peace rally stuff is a little bit bigger bite than a local elected office, so I got a bit more work to do.

Every page I see that has an email addy about newspapers and peace outfits is gettin an email from yours truly!

I'll start sending them to Congress next. Peace Rallys my ass. They've been shootin at us fer over ten years and then killed near three thousand Americans on our own soil. We're at war. Not at our bidding, but at the behest of those who attack us.

So much fer a nice quiet cup of joe on Sunday, huh! LOL.

It's a good day, folks! Read the paper before ya get rollin off to church or where ever!

You bet your sweet Sgt arse I'm plannin. I posted what was on my mind finally yesterday, then started making phone calls. And, one of the FIRST places I'm startin is the VFW National home...... where a Marine Brother works. THE ONLY Veteran who works there. Imagine that.
He told me (more) stories how these civilians are taking advantage of the Veterans, and families - in the work being done around the 'campus'. Only, in the year he has worked there, he has a list of names. That breaks my heart. He also has access to the schedule of when things are done, and the amounts charged for these 'services'. From what he says, this couple particular contractors are reaming OUR Brothers and their families.
That's where I'm starting.
I will move forward from there.

Its Sunday and taking the day off, when you're <strike>retarded</strike> retired everyday is Saturday!

Taking my daughter to her new school in Santa Barabara this morning. But I'm not worried they'll be back.

When the first one turned 18 I placed one of those notices on her door, like you find in hotels, instead of it saying check-out time is `2 noon, like in most hotels, it said check out time is 18 years. Don't know if Barndog will want to try that...LOL

But it didn't work, all five of them are still living at home. This one wants to venture out one tried it for a year and came back home, the oldest is smart enought to know what good for her and everyone after that just stayed home.

I'm not worried about any of them really moving out, this one will be home on week-ends that's for sure, she'll only be 2 hours away.

Well coffee's good thismorning, got to clean out the small frig for her totake to her drom room, but it seems like she's got a good roommate, we'll see.

You guys in Michigan think you have rough weather up there. You don't know what cold is!

We had a cold snap here on Friday that was so bad that six people died of exposure in their beds.

"How cold was it" you ask?

The following is an exact quote from today's newspaper.

"Unusually cold weather has killed six people in the northern Philippines mountain resort of Baguio, a local health official said Monday.

Baguio's temperature sank to a six year-low of 10.2 degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit) on January 3, weathermen said."

Good Morning to all!!! I'm knew to the site just got lgged in yesterday. Been out of the Marines since 1992. Sure do miss it!!! This is a great site can't believe it took me so long to find it. I'm a deputy with the Monroe County Sheriffs Department. There are 5 former Marines that I work with. I will pass this site on to them. Anyone out there an 0311 from Camp. Pendleton (Horno) Bco 1/1 2nd platoon from 1988-1990. I agree with Montana I live in Michigan and really wish it was 50 degrees here. If it was I would have the BBQ out and the kids in shorts. Semper FI!!!

Y'all complainin' about the weather and stuff (yeah, I know but it's an uncensored word!) I'm with you top - gets chilly in the evening there in the PI - tropical breezes and stuff (there's that word again!) It's 35 here - shorts and t-shirt weather! Goin' with the thought Montana had - it is a dry cold and a dry heat, hell we even have dry rain.

I know it ain't morning but I've been recouping from this damn cold from hell (yes, I back tracked it). It's tryin to kick my butt.

Y'all have a great day, Semper Fi!

'Mornin' folks! Coffee's on! How the hell ya been lately! Ya better grab a cup and cop a squat somewhere! Place is a mess, but I been busy lately!

Got more little family emergencies to deal with and doin' the email thing. Some of those peace rally folks can't think and don't act like they wanta! Maybe thats been my problem all along. I think fer myself and don't believe everything I hear. I wonder if that's why I'm not rich...oh, well, I'm better lookin' than Bill Gates anyway!

There's been a lot of activatin' around here. You'd think we was almost ready to go on a mission or somethin'! Either that or we're startin' to get smart.....LOL.

Well, we had a lot fun on the site awhile back, but there always seemed to be a 'firefight' goin' and a lot of trolls runnin around back then. We didn't talk about much that was serious here on the site mostly. Maybe the site is beginning to mature some. I don't know. I like it all for the most part, just wish some of you other folks would jump in and tell us what ya think of everything now and then. I know some of ya are edumacated and have opinions on stuff! Hell, yer Marines, ya got opinions on everything! LOL. Not to mention the knowledge and experience ya got to help folks out with. ( I and a couple others around here need all the help we can get, but that's another story! )

Everyone's welcome! Hell, I got enough coffee cups to go around, and if I run out, we'll fake it! LOL. Some of you'll be drinking out of pots and pans, but what the hell, we've drank outta worse before! LOl.

I found myself a little hobby fer awhile I think. emailing peace activists and governemnt folks about peace activism. DOn't want to mess with the Bill of Rights, just wanta make sure they don't turn around and decide we can't use them ourselves is all.

Hell ya gotta have somethin' else to do besides work and play cowboys and french maids with the ol lady don't ya... or is that just me....

...anyway...

It's a new day folks! New opportunities out there! Another chance to get it right. Might even figger it out this time...maybe!;)

Warm up yer coffee, folks. We'll get it better one of these days!

Morning all... Getting ready to hit the rack here myself - that cold is trying it's best to keep a good man down - and me too! LOL

Bones, on those who need the help... It sure was good of ya not to go and name Barndog, Drifter, Sparrowhawk and Shaffer directly. Good thinkin' there Marine! LOL

Yeah, yeah yeah... I already know where my name would be on that list... Hell, my name is on a lot of lists - just take a number and wait yer turn!

Got me a bit of a new hobby too. Been "burnin" CD's of music - yeah, I call that stuff music. Course, there be a bit of a trick to it and trial and error tends to render the CD useless - unless ya fork out the extra bucks for a re-writable CD - I only got a few of them for backing up files and such. So far, I'm doin' pretty good.

Now to the more important things that Bones gone and dropped on the deck...

I've read some of those posts ya did with them peace activists, Bones. The one, who implied that he went to New Mexico State does not represent being a student from that university nor being a soldier well at all. If that is a direct cut and past, Bones, he needs to get a little more English/writing/typing skills under his belt - hell, compuker skills at least. Damn things come with grammar and spell check - how hard is it to press a little button? (Yes, I do use my word processor on my compuker for this stuff so only the words I mess up intentionally come through.) It’s called attention to detail. Any way, back to this duffus soldier. He hardly made any point with you other than to show he don’t know jack sh.t about the subject. He even pointed out a situation where some Vet goes off on a complainer and has the gall to say he uses that leadership example - from what he put in that email, he ain’t been nowhere! So what experience does he have to talk about? And, why ain’t he listenin’ to you, the one with the experience? There’s leadership - who’s gonna follow him? Better question, who’s gonna have to follow him?

(Sorry if I rehashed arguments or statements already made)

Well, y’all have a great day! Semper Fi!

No wonder you worked at HAMS, Rat.......... Yer mouth runs like like an open sewer. Kinda resembles the smell of one too... Oh no - I'd didn't come out and openly say that, did I???????? LOLOL

Aren't paybacks hell? Dirtbag......

Interesting day yesterday...... Ended up at the bar (imagine that) and was havin a beer with a couple buddies......(see previous statement) when in walks this guy. Wasn't no question in my mind that he was military.

Found out he is the Fire Chief on the USS George Washington - yup the same one that pulled into port 20 Dec 02. He enlisted in 1977 - (ahem Bones) he's now a WO. Sez they're lookin to go back out by the end of the month, unless the other ship comes back on line first. He also said he's retiring next year. 27 he says, is enough.

I gave him our collective best.

I'm goin back to p!ssin off the masses some more.
