"What, Price Freedom?" Letter from PFC Robert Duncan
My name is Private First Class Robert Joseph Duncan.
I am an M240 Bravo machine gunner with Alpha company 1-327th Infantry Battalion of the 101st airborne division (air assault).
I am writing to address the attitude of some of the American
people and how it has so drastically changed since September 1th.
It seems that so many of you have forgotten of the 3,000+ lives lost that day and the many families broken because of the event. I have not.
Nor have any of my fellow soldiers.
What we do, we do not in spite or for revenge but because
you are threatened.
Because the freedoms you take for granted each day are placed in danger of being taken from you.
It is the duty of my self and my fellow soldiers to defend those freedoms You so easily forget the cost of.
Freedom is not free!
It is purchased in blood and sacrifices.
My blood and the blood of countless others before me and that will never change.
War is not something I dream of, it is not something I desire,
but if the freedoms of the American people are threatened in any way shape or form foreign or domestic.
I will find the threat and perform the duties I have been trained for.
Day or night and in all weather I will fight to protect your rights and freedoms
and if necessary I will purchase them with my blood.
I do this willingly and I do it with out hate, malice or regret.
Strong words? You bet!
It is a stand I take for what this country is established upon.
Read the preamble of our constitution.
Some may still not understand why we do this;
and for those who do not....you probably never will.
Remember that every time you go to the store to buy any type of item, or walk down the street and enjoy the fresh air, or go to a private school of your choice,
or travel from county to county or state to state,
or vote for change or what ever you believe in,
or yes even protest, or you may talk less than favorable about our president, military or government someone died to give you that freedom....
some ones son or daughter, father or mother, grandfather and so on...
yes the price is so easily forgotten isn't it?
Take the time my fellow American and reflect on what price freedom cost?
Do not forget the price of freedom and do not forget what freedom is.
Because the United States military will continue to fight and
die for it as long as it is threatened.
I will fight for my God, my country and for you....the American people.
I will do so until my lungs can no longer draw the breath,
necessary for me to continue the struggle....
but someone will take up my place...
again is payment made for the price of your freedoms.

This letter could have been written by many Americans serving in Iraq, Afghanistan or any where on this planet.
My fellow Americans have rather short attention spans.
Just a few days back the media covered D-Day 6 of June 1944, in every way, shape or form.
Now there's isn't much being said about the Veterans of WW II.
Than the death of President Reagan brought out the evil of Ted Ralls

In another article he writes that President Ronald Reagan should be turning "crispy brown" that when the Nation was conducting his funeral...
Who speaks for the dead, at this late date?
Even if you dislike the man, respect him im death, he is beyond caring what you have to say.
Your words of vemon, only hurt the living relatives of the dead...
Shame on you Ted Ralls.
You have outdone yourself, and as the letter above states...
You right to say those words of vemon were paid in blood by some one in the military...
