what do they check for in the blood at MCRD? the same thing they check for at MEPS?

probably. dugs. diseases. alergies. stuff like that i would imagine.

and they take a little DNA sample to keep on file

They conduct about a dozen or so tests on your blood. Cholesterol, blood count, lead content, globulins, glucose, etc.

They'll also pull one vial of blood specifically for an HIV test. This will be an annual thing.

No illegal drug testing is done with the blood.

DNA is actually swabbed out of your mouth and blood from your finger. Used to help identify your remains if need be.

but in the end, just before you get out of Boot camp they test it again.

If its not you're sent back as a re-tread.
