Marine pilot killed in plane crash ID'd

The Marine Reserve pilot killed when his plane crashed near the Arizona border Wednesday has been identified as Maj. Brett M. Bekken, 36, of Dallas, Marine officials said yesterday.
His F/A-18A Hornet went down about 20 miles northwest of Yuma during night operations.
Bekken's survivors include his parents, Ronald and Susan.
He was a member of VFMA-12, a fighter/attack squadron from a joint Reserve base in Fort Worth, Texas, and was involved in close air support training with troops from Camp Pendleton's 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
The wreckage of his plane was found Thursday morning in the desert south of Glamis.
