Just finished Max Boot's " Savage Wars of Peace" . Excellent and appropriate reading for these complicated times . It is an overview of American involvement in " Small Wars " from 1800 to 2001 . Boot refers to the Marine Corps " Small Wars" manual of 1940 and its relevance in contemporary conflicts.
